Emily Thornberry
Got to say it, Penny Mordaunt
looks damn fine! The sword bearer steals the show. #Coronation
https://twitter.com/EmilyThornberry/status/1654811459673640960
(apparently PM had to do wieght training to undertake the role of sword bearer!!)

And Princess Anne (the best monarch we never had) chatted to poor Harry stuck in a back row and wore an amazing hat before leaving early to jump on her horse to help guard her brother against possibly rowdy republicans

Sorry for anyone who thinks it inappropriate to be frivalous on FWR and / or about the Coronation, but the rain has cancelled my plans and am just catching up with the events earlier today which I forgot about!

I was never keen on Penny Mordaunt but think she did a fantastic job in carrying out her difficult role, which was one that needed a lot of endurance, and she looked truly wonderful.

It crossed my mind too that Princess Anne conveys authority, presence, leadership and duty. What a tremendous rider she is too.

Colour scheme seems familiar…

I thought she was trying to channel Britannia. She did look very striking.

TooBigForMyBoots · 06/05/2023 20:34

Emily TWAW Thornberry and Penny TWAW Mordaunt are well suited.

IwantToRetire · 06/05/2023 20:35

Some online commentator thought PM constume had been paid for by Poundland as those gold bits are like their logo!

I did enjoy all the toing and froing with the sword and screens and it was great that her previous expertise as a Magician's Assistant was being put to good use.

No experience is wasted 👍

Curlymoomoo · 06/05/2023 21:33

I think she might have made a better PM than Rishi, TWAW views excepted.

Neverplayleapfrogwithmrpipes · 06/05/2023 21:42

I loved her outfit but this tweet made me chuckle

It's possibly poor form to quote a poster from another thread, but 'King Buckaroo' me chuckle:

At one point earlier it was like king buckeroo. They just keep piling more and more stuff on him...

Truthlikeness · 06/05/2023 21:54

Politics and the monarchy aside, I enjoyed watching women carrying out such significant roles in the coronation with poise and dignity. Mordant carrying the sword which symbolises royal power and Princess Anne as Gold Stick in Waiting, the king's bodyguard.

She really wouldn't. She's a consummate liar with hard TWAW beliefs and reality denier. My fear atm is that the Tories will get rid of Sunak following their catastrophic losses in the LEs and she will be his replacement.

She is the worst of both worlds.

EmmaEmerald · 06/05/2023 22:01

I fancied Penny today and I'm straight!

morningtoncrescent62 · 06/05/2023 22:10

I thought Penny was magnificent. I couldn't take my eyes off her when she was on screen: such self-control and poise, not a single wobble. I'll never vote Tory, but all respect to her.

I also loved Floella Benjamin's appearance.

AutumnCrow · 06/05/2023 22:15

Mordaunt's extreme gender ideology views are odious to me.

IcakethereforeIam · 06/05/2023 22:16

Was just thinking of my pp, Penny as Britannia, totally missed a pun there, then throw Poundland into the mix....!

MaybeWednesday · 06/05/2023 22:18

Didn't watch today but have just spent 20 mins on Twitter searching for pictures.

Thought this was quite amusing.

Oh no, that would be awfulTooBigForMyBoots.

It is a worry though that as she looked so vimpressive today they might think she’d be an election winner.

Namechange828492 · 06/05/2023 22:23

I just want to know where I can buy a similarly magnificently supportive bra.

AuContraire · 06/05/2023 22:28

Princess Anne is so fucking cool.

She looks totally comfortable in the most ridiculous clothes and situations.

AnythingToSay · 06/05/2023 22:44

Politics aside, she looked spectacular. Her outfit was truly beautiful and she stole the show.

puffyisgood · 06/05/2023 22:45

I'm no fan of her politics but she absolutely nailed the sword-bearing Valkyrie routine, perfection.

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/05/2023 22:47

Politics aside (🤮), yes, Penny looked glorious.

Boiledbeetle · 06/05/2023 22:48

I honestly don't know how Penny did it with that sword. Love her or loath her, she did an amazing job with it. I'd have dropped it about 20 seconds in. Assuming I'd actually managed to hold it upright in the first place!

Boiledbeetle · 06/05/2023 22:49

And how do they all go so long without needing a pee?
