I can understand the police’s concerns about the rape alarms frightening the horses if they were set off as protest during the procession, but I cannot see why they couldn’t just ask the special/official volunteers to wait until later to hand them out. Why arrest them? The right arm evidently did not know what the left arm was doing.

Anyone else seen the rather torrid responses PM seems to elicit from Conservative men of a certain age? There's some full-on, Vic Reeves trouser-rubbing going on below the line on the Times and Telegraph.

I mean, I thought she looked great and did well (authoritative, appropriate dress, good arm strength) and as a fellow 50-year-old with a weight lifting habit and menopausal belly I should be pleased to hear she inspires such a reaction, but... er, really? The same peanut gallery was pretty loudly unfavourably comparing Liz Truss's sex appeal to PM's when they were competing for the leadership. (Because that's the most important thing in a female Tory leader...?)

I don’t like some of her views, but Penny M looked awesome and did a great job. I was pleased to see this recognised by Emily T (who I’m also not that keen on usually). It’s good to see politicians behaving with civility and pleasant words to the other side. Good for them both, they’ve gone up a notch in my estimation.

I’m gonna give a shout out to Liz Truss too - I genuinely loved her dress (but I do have quite idiosyncratic taste when it comes to fashion 😬).

I’ve actually rather liked some of Theresa May’s past looks too - usually the ones she was mocked for in the tabloids. Was surprised at how ‘in disguise’ she seemed yesterday (especially as she can deffo now hold her head high as not-the-worse-former-Tory-PM on that particular pew!)

I am absolutely sure she does! And I expect her humour is like her father's and can only imagine the comments she makes at home. Apparently in the US many think of her as a badass (I think approvingly).

re the Met seizing the rape alarms, this was at midnight before the coronation had started on any protestors had arrived. They are a group supported by Westminster council who go out every eveing. Surely the local police must be aware of this service. And even if they thought the volunteers were going to illicitly hold onto some of the alarms to give to protestors, a check could have been done on the day itself.

Town & Country magazine (not my usual read, admittedly) have described Princess Anne as looking ‘like a boss’ - a statement I cannot disagree with!

Lets hope Charles continues to recognise the talents of his little sister - Anne inherited a fabulous mix of their mother’s sense of duty and service and their father’s dry sense of humour and lack of tolerance for nonsense (without the pomposity that makes her brothers so difficult to warm to).

Astounding that all those years ago Anne declined royal titles for her own children despite being dedicated to the family business - the complete opposite to Harry who took the titles for his kids but doesn’t want to do the work.
