Just posting this as on a thread elsewhere I made some disparaging remarks that the debate will be shuffled off to some small committee room.

But they must think that more than a few MPs are wanting to take part as I have just seen it will be in Westminster Hall.

Will be interesting to see which MPs are willing to state views about the reality of biological sex in public!

Event will be broadcast live.

The woman the gender pointer gave way to talking about dsds, she underminded her point by pointing out two relatively common types. One which affects women and one which affects men 🤡

Yes it is (astounding) that Phillips has finally come out (ha) but the real kudos will always be due to our Rosie who has been steadfast through. Thank you Rosie.

WarriorN · 12/06/2023 18:45

Purple top woman isn't making the point she thinks she made 😆

If someone can dress up as a gas meter person and enter a property to offend OF COURSE someone can pre tend to be trans to offend

CriticalCondition · 12/06/2023 18:45

It's obviously very hot in there. They are fanning themselves like crazy, jackets coming off, glugging water. Temperature of the debate has been pretty moderate so far. Hope it stays that way.

chilling19 · 12/06/2023 18:45

SunnyEgg · 12/06/2023 18:46

How’s he still going

Fuck off with your dog whistle, you’re a dog whistle

SunnyEgg · 12/06/2023 18:46

Who’s this

PronounssheRa · 12/06/2023 18:46

I'm pleasantly surprised at how well informed the tories are on this, I thought that apart from a small group they were probably just enjoying using it as a stick to beat Labour with. But the range of impacts they are aware of is really good.

Labour, meh, but for a couple of notable exceptions they are a bit amateur hour, so far

Slothtoes · 12/06/2023 18:47

Agree with you seahorses
it’s about women’s rights (which always includes transmen of course)
it’s a debate about biological sex

Boiledbeetle · 12/06/2023 18:47

?? dont know

I started at the end of Eagle and am just at the start of Pollard. I skipped most of Nia Grifffiths. Jess Phillips pleasantly surprised me, I kept waiting for the other shoe to fall. Bottomley had given those books a good coat of looking at, they were falling apart.

What time is it expected to finish?

Loads of post it notes marking important passages! Love it! Old school research xxx

whereaw · 12/06/2023 18:47

Why is it the trans 'community'? Are we the women community?

They haven’t used it as a stick once

Whereas Labour, all the TWAW have is the stick

God all these men understanding what women go through. who'd have thunk it. where have they all been for the last ten years

Boiledbeetle · 12/06/2023 18:48

does anyone know who this man is?

WarriorN · 12/06/2023 18:48

I feel like she's maybe been given the green light from somewhere. Paves the way for Starmer on the campaign trail perhaps. Rosie unfairly still seen as 'controversial' but he can point to Jess as a 'voice of reason'.

The argument has been carefully worked out to avoid controversy.

She's also distracted any further criticism by pointing out whatever the next debate was re some sort of funding for domestic abuse things.

It's good though as her point is exactly EA friendly; separate provisions needed for women. And other groups.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 12/06/2023 18:48

Jonathan Gullis

birchtreeglow · 12/06/2023 18:49

Can't remember who, but they were quite angry claiming that trans women are being made out to be predators. - I liked the near miss analogy. I do hope that someone points out the stats I've seen on here regarding % of trans women convicted of sexual violence compared to general male population.
