ICO threatens Gender Clinic with court over Mermaids involvement .

The Telegraph is reporting that the ICO has threatened GIDs with court action for denying that they have records about their involvement with Mermaids. A courageous parent who was concerned about the inappropriate influence Mermaids had on GIDs issued some FOIs. The Trust claimed that it "did not hold" emails or minutes of meetings .

Mermaids previously accidentally published emails between Susie Green from Mermaids & Tavistock staff that led to the ICO fining Mermaids for a data breach. In the light of this, the ICO doesn't believe the Trust's denials and has ruled that “on the balance of probabilities” they do have relevant emails. It's a criminal offence to hide, alter or delete information requested via an FOI and it looks as if the ICO are prepared to throw the book at them

Tavistock gender clinic threatened with court action by watchdog

NHS Trust has until May 5 to provide a new response to parent's FoI request or ICO could write to High Court

GIDs just keep on digging, don't they?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 30/04/2023 23:03

Wonder why they're trying to hide a relationship with the paedophile scandal hit children's sex change charity?
Hannah Barnes Book, Time to Think, has a lot to say about the excessive influence that the adult charity Gendered Intelligence has on the health care of children at GIDs as well.

I just came to post this hopefully this will come through before the charity commission finishes it investigation into mermaids

MrsOvertonsWindow · 30/04/2023 23:10

There's a lot of dots that need joining up about what's happened to these vulnerable children. The role of adult trans activists in influencing the medical care of children despite an absence of medical, child psychology, safeguarding, parenting or any other expertise in relation to children needs exposing.

'Tis the season for Court action it would seem what with parents threatening to sue the Government/DFE regarding the way children are having their gender changed at school without parental knowledge or consent.

I hope this leads to the end of charities such as Mermaids having such an insidious level of influence.

Finally it seems people are sitting up and taking notice of what is/has been happening to children due to this ideology.

Soontobe60 · 30/04/2023 23:17

Ive heard Suzie Green talk about how she supported families at GIDS appointments, coaching them on how to get treatment, what things to say. She was given free rein on interfering.

Caught in a web of lies

To sound all mother like "I'm more cross at the fact you lied about it, then what you did" *

*Even though we know she is still really mad at that.

Boiledbeetle · 30/04/2023 23:21

I have to say 2023 is much better than 2022!

FannyCann · 30/04/2023 23:38

Some of those emails have been archived on a certain farming site. I saw them at the time if the data leak. There's plenty of correspondence between GIDS/Polly Carmichael and SG.

FannyCann · 30/04/2023 23:39

I'm delighted the ICO is taking this seriously.

Helleofabore · 01/05/2023 02:33

More sunlight.

MoltenLasagne · 01/05/2023 05:49

Good news. Very glad to see this is being taken seriously.

Rightsraptor · 01/05/2023 06:44

That was very good news to wake up to this morning.

@FannyCann tells us some of the emails have been archived by the fruit farmers, but I'm wondering if they would be legally admissible?

But anything that rattles GIDS and Mermaids's cages is very good news indeed.

How come The Tavi is still operating given it was told to close? Does anyone know how that is enforced?
Well done that parent!

ResisterRex · 01/05/2023 07:25

And what of the ERHC emails? From the original story:

16 June 2019
Parents’ anger as child sex change charity puts private emails online

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/c7abd38e-8fa0-11e9-9b18-a1967b748a67?shareToken=583642e2d849c64a2abcb89c250b00eb

"The emails also show co-operation with the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), another official body with a public stance of neutrality in the transgender debate. In the correspondence, the EHRC appeared to seek trans test cases against schools and service providers."

A cursory search for "mermaids EHRC" found this, with Mermaids and Gendered Intelligence quoted. About schools:

5 Nov 2017
www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/our-work/news/transgender-children-failed-system-warns-equality-chair

"Amongst other subjects, the guidance will address: different gender definitions, effective safeguarding, tackling bullying, appropriate language, uniforms, pronoun and name change, toilets and changing rooms, sports classes, parental concerns, and single sex admissions; and will be discussed at a leading roundtable held by the Commission tomorrow."

Florissant · 01/05/2023 07:34

Good for the farmers.

That's a very good point ResisterRex. I think it shows just how extensive the capture of our institutions by extreme trans activists was at that time. Just as the CPS (of all organisations) had to withdraw their appalling school guidelines rather than face legal scrutiny about advice that accused girls of a hate crime for not welcoming boys into their changing rooms and toilets, the EHRC were similarly captured with activists looking for schools to target for daring to safeguard children.
More recently the DfE's trans activist senior civil servant was sacked, there's been a welcome departure of activists from the EHRC with hopefully more responsible adults in post who recognise that safeguarding children should be society's priority, not the oppressive demands of a powerful minority?

Thats fantastic news.

I wonder if FOIs could be done the other way round- for Mermaids to GIDS?

LizzieSiddal · 01/05/2023 07:48

Apologies excuse my last post, there’s no point doing that if they have already requested the emails from GIDS.

ResisterRex · 01/05/2023 08:21

Looking at the UN / WHO thread, it seems unlikely we can think this will in fact ever end. It needs to be roundly countered, yes. It seems sensible to work on the basis that those who harm children might only give the impression of stepping back. They won't go actually away or stop.

I'm guessing it's because the replacement services are not ready yet. This report says it was meant to close in 'spring'.

I think FOIs can only be made to public bodies. Charities are exempt along with other organisations such as Private Hospitals (who really could do with being held to account).

ValancyRedfern · 01/05/2023 09:49

This is great news. Lots of testimonies about Mermaids' over-involvement in the Hannah Barnes book. Bring on the sunlight.

Annaissleeping · 01/05/2023 10:20

This is good news. I am reading the Hannah Barnes book at present and can't believe much of what I'm reading (not literally, I'm just appalled things were such a car crash)
