How much do you know about Radical Feminism? Not too many of us here would adhere strictly to radical feminism either. We will have certain common views with RF but won't be completely bound by it's ideology either. TERF was dreamed up as a slur based on the fact that some of the first people to raise alarms about trans ideology were radical feminists. But it was very, very quickly applied to anyone disagreed in any way with the ideology, not just radical feminists, not even just feminists or in fact, not even people who want to 'exclude' trans people.

It was a way to scare people into shutting up but as it's not a slur with a long history of being used to abuse. It was very easy for people who believe in reality, to shrug and say, 'sure that's what I am,' when called TERF. It's why Dave Chappelle can declare himself Team Terf, or why GC people or anyone else who understands reality can call ourselves Terf. It's the easiest to reclaim slur in history because the first that most people heard of it, was when they realised that they are one and the people calling them it are batshit.

I wish there was some better discussion with the trans-activist side than having to explain to them that beliefs aren't wrong just because a "bad person" is in agreement with it...

Oh I'm damn fucking excited about Trump's stance on this. Not because I care what Trump thinks. None of us have a clue what Trump actually thinks about anything, tbh. But because Trump has a canny team around him that knew how to make this figure of fun into the American president. And if they have decided that going full on against trans ideology should be a big part of his campaign for re-election. Then it is because they have done the research and assessed that it's something a very significant cohort of the American population feel very, very strongly about.

I don't care about Trump but I do care about what it means.

Hitler being a vegetarian doesn’t say anything about the ethical stance of being a vegetarian, but if someone on a vegetarian board posted “Hitler was a vegetarian!” excitedly, people might have some questions!

I do think it’s amazing on this board the deference men with truly awful views, behaviour, and histories get for agreeing on this one topic, vs. the ire thrown at women. I don’t believe TW should be in prisons, shelters, sports and I disagree with other women who do think so, but I’d still take most of those women’s collective views over the kind of men who get praised on here for hitting the lowest bar.

I’m not praising Elon or celebrating his agreement with my views, I’m saying having him agree with me doesn’t make me change my mind about this issue.

I said that - or at least something like ‘I don’t think he’s an arsehole’.

My reason being, I haven’t been scrutinising him, though I heard a lot of predigested opinions, as though I was supposed to think he was an arsehole. My personal belief is that it would be hard to find a billionaire who isn’t thought to be an arsehole. There’s nothing like success to get all the mean-spirited, judgemental gossips crawling out of the woodwork looking for dirt to dish. So much easier to complain about what other people are doing instead of doing something yourself.

I hugely appreciate what he’s done for Twitter and insodoing, done for the world, done for democracy and done for free speech. At first, I was suspicious (after all - isn’t this guy supposed to be an irredeemable arsehole?), and I was so delighted that he took the risk, taking a huge financial hit for himself and his investors, for purely ethical reasons. He knew there was something within his power to do and he did it.

I also appreciate that he wants to help AI from being a threat to humanity.

Anyway, someone who does something ethical, of great benefit to the world and at a personal cost, to me, makes them not an arsehole in my opinion.

I would love to have some bot to trawl through all the personal decisions his haters have made, get them all up in the dock, put them on trial, and we can decide whether they are arseholes or not. I wonder how many would be found guilty?

I said he's intelligent in response to someone saying he's not. And the thing is, I'm not a reality denier. Elon is clearly highly intelligent in a number of forms of intelligence. Anyone saying he isn't, is just bursting with cope. Not liking him doesn't change the objective reality of the fact that he is indeed very intelligent.

His IQ is reckoned to be about 155, but I reckon he'd test higher.

I think some people think some of his ideas are stupid and, to them, that the person behind the idea must also be stupid.

I come out with some incredibly actually stupid stuff on a regular basis. I am however not actually stupid.

For me, it isn’t his smarts that are his best feature, it’s his audacious vision with the work ethic to realise it. So inspiring.
