I'm not sure if he mentions his battles with GC women in it because the review doesn't mention it but I thought some people here would like to read the review. The reviewer doesn't think much of it and that is putting it mildly :)

Gail's is a (small) chain. One opened near me recently and a friend and I tried it out last week. Very nice but ridiculously expensive (£4.80 for a sourdough loaf).

That said, DD17 was very impressed with the Christmas bun I carted home for her. If it annoys the fox killer I might treat her to a few more.

"Sedentary topplers" what a great description for the outraged of Dulwich, foregoing their sourdough and pain du jour.

They are rather expensive, but the baked goods are yummy

I offer you this, dated a month prior, back in November 2019. The baseball bat and his wife's kimono turn out to be recurring characters. One does wonder why he does not have his own dressing gown. He can't be that impoverished.

There something rather Freudian about a garment that falls open in the front very easily. And indeed about a long wooden club.

I'm reeling from Jolyon admitting he's not very good at something (not a good shot, by his own estimation). I'd rather got the idea he thinks he can do anything. But thank God for the being a bad shot, anyway.

Now I have the phrase ‘Jolyon’s Apricot Plops’ going round and round in my head like a particularly insidious advertising jingle.
