Judgement in Mermaids v Charity Commission tribunal expected in days

This is the case where Mermaids challenged the Charity Commission's decision to give charitable status to the LGBA.

Don't have any more detail at the moment, but thought you'd all be interested. It's been a four month wait already.

I understand- I was trying to ascertain which bit of the transcript @Carrie40 was referring to as even that poster's reporting that seemed to be incorrect.

If it is the bit of the transcript I am reading, then taken in context there is a full description of how those figures came to be. So I wanted to check we had read the same thing, because it sounded a bit wrong from what the PP said. But I guess they're not bothered about being factually accurate about who even said something, let alone something as complex as 'understanding data in context'.

I cant get over the embarrassing level of desperation required to determinedly leverage the sexual orientation of the LBG Alliance when the whole point of mermaids is to deny that sexual orientation even exists!

They're actually using the vehemently challenged premise of their opposition, to uphold their own position 🤣

As the bottom of barrels go, it doesn't get more scraped.

If they define a lesbian as someone who identifies as a woman and is sexually attracted to other people who identify as women then I'd be surprised if the figure was as high as 7%.

Maybe they are waiting to see if they survive this court ruling before appointing a proper CEO. The acting CEO seems to be keeping her head down very quietly, which is probably quite wise in the circumstances.

Have you got anything to support your claim? Quite frankly, it seems ludicrous to me.

Or perhaps anyone considering the position has made it clear that any decision to accept the post won't be made before the ruling.

Fundamentally, the outcome has a significant impact on the job description in terms of a potential requirement to restore organisational reputation and credibility (beyond that already needed).

It's just one of the scripts trotted out. Like the 'there's only six of you' one, and the 'most lesbians love hetero sex' one. There's never any evidence, just the hope that if you say it enough it'll stick with and influence the very gullible.

I think it was Rachel McKinnon who wrote an entire thesis on this.

I seem to remember too a photograph being shown that was supposed to show how very undiverse the LGBA was.

When it was pointed out that the photo showed a diverse range of ages, race, ability, sex, the complainant (I seem to remember it might have been LoJ or the fox botherer?) said it was the lack of adult babies and people with obvious gender identity signals such as costume/drag/blue hair that was the issue.
