This is the case where Mermaids challenged the Charity Commission's decision to give charitable status to the LGBA.

Don't have any more detail at the moment, but thought you'd all be interested. It's been a four month wait already.

The LGB Alliance had the audacity to question the concept of a singular "LGBT community" - that's what people didn't like. I still don't understand why being gay automatically makes you part of "a community", because then people in that "community" can judge others in "the community" for doing the wrong thing. Good on LGBA for saying "there is no community"!

There are so many more LGB pp on Twitter wanting to separate from the T than there used to be.

Pretty sure it's Stonewall that's full of straights now. Ones desperate to be interesting by declaring themselves "queer" and/or through creating new, indecipherable terms by glomming the Q-word to the front of any old thing, to be more specific.

This.

Everything to the right of the B is just straight people.

EmotionalSupportHyena · 18/04/2023 12:33

Nope. You must be confusing them with another org, Mish?

https://lgballiance.org.uk/facts/

Obviously that's mostly hetrosexual - if you also believe people can change sex, you can believe anything.

nilsmousehammer · 18/04/2023 16:52

MishyJDI · 18/04/2023 12:27

Lols. Isn't the LGB alliance, mostly full of straight people membership?

Shall indeed be an interesting decision. Many suggest they are not what they seem, but I doubt that will be provable at the tribunal.

No. It isn't. Lols.

🙄

It's largely full of pissed off homosexual people, like the elderly lesbian protected by Christian Fundamentalist men ffs, from an 'LGBT' ravening mob attacking her.

nilsmousehammer · 18/04/2023 16:52

Thanks OP, watching with interest. This has been a hell of a long time coming.

Datdamndamp · 18/04/2023 17:10

Hopefully we'll then hear from the charity commission on their investigation into Mermaids.

BoreOfWhabylon · 18/04/2023 17:34

Thanks OP.

TheClitterati · 18/04/2023 17:38

thanks for the heads up. I watched the tribunal live and nervous-citedly await the results.

Zo6789 · 18/04/2023 17:46

Thanks OP. Yes, let’s have the CC investigation results and Cass next!

CriticalCondition · 18/04/2023 18:08

Thanks OP. I watched it live too. So many important cases over the last couple of years. Tenterhooks again.

guinnessguzzler · 18/04/2023 18:58

Very much looking forward to the result on this one.

heathspeedwell · 18/04/2023 18:59

Really looking forward to this. The more sunlight the better. Lots of people still haven't really considered these issues so every single bit of media coverage is helping people to realise that trans ideology is inherently homophobic.

FannyCann · 18/04/2023 20:17

Thanks OP. Looking forward to this one.

Doyoumind · 18/04/2023 20:18

Thanks for the update. I was thinking about it at the weekend, wondering if I had missed the outcome somehow.

No, that 7% was based on mailchimp subscriber data where the tick box options given to subscribers were not clear and many subscribers hadn’t answered at all. It was the only available data during Allison Bailey’s court case but subsequently a much more robust survey of subscribers showed that the vast majority were lesbian, gay or bisexual.

'After our October conference, we surveyed our attendees about their sexual orientation.

Of those who responded, 41% indicated they are lesbians, and 84% in total are lesbian, gay or bisexual.

It is no surprise to us that such a large number of our supporters are lesbians!'

Kate Barker said this in this tribunal?
I can find in the transcript where other people are referring to a figure that Kate Barker collected - do you mean this?
