This is the case where Mermaids challenged the Charity Commission's decision to give charitable status to the LGBA.

Don't have any more detail at the moment, but thought you'd all be interested. It's been a four month wait already.

Thanks for the link to The Times Janice Turner article. I agree with her.

ResisterRex · 08/07/2023 20:06

Some people seem hell bent on taking down the LGBA. No means no. Sex means sex. There are charities whose aims I don't agree with. I wouldn't make it my business to try and remove them from society.

BBC note purported to have said the LGBA doesn't do interviews...good grief:

So pleased for Allison Bailey.

That seems to me to be potentially quite an explosive story. Someone inside the BBC using shenanigans to effectively censor their output. Presumably the point is to pre-empt editorial staff who might be inclined to interview them.

Helen Joyce has already spoken of being "blacklisted". Is the way it works?

A database which purports to be (and probably is for most people) a reflection of their contact details, willingness to appear and areas of expertise - and you just mark down all the people who you don't WANT to appear as "unwilling to appear".

Sounds like an audit might be in order.

SpringLobelia · 09/07/2023 07:15

Oh i misread your last sentence as 'sounds like an adult might be in order'.

That works too, though.

Does that Kate have a GRC? Cos if not, even if we're going by the Haldane interpretation of the Equality Act, they're not same sex attracted, so don't come under the LGBA's remit.

Could they FOI that to find out who circulated the lie?

Glinner mentions this often - the younger flunkys who actually book the interviews will claim the other side’s voices aren’t available.

Understand some dislike his style as it’s quite emotional and confrontational, but he really turns out to be right most of the time.

It was like the first responses to Beira.

"Here is the one and only available women's refuge charity exclusively for biological women who want and need an exclusively single sex service to be able to access these resources since men now own and dominate all the others"

First responses on twitter "I'm a biological male, what will this service do for me?"

Ideology based on lack of grip on reality demonstrates... issues with having a grip on reality.

You really have to wonder what the BBC and Peter Tachell have in common. 🤔

I just laugh as the BBC constantly promote their fact checking service and anti-fake news credentials, and yet in real time prove their bias over and over again by their addiction to to the propaganda of Tatchell.

Needmoresleep · 09/07/2023 12:47

Isn't this the sort of journalism we used to expect from the Guardian.

Something, which rather than be lectured to, we can nod along in agreement and be pleased that our media is articulating the issue for us.

bd67thSaysReinstateLangCleg · 09/07/2023 12:52

Observer is the sister paper, Sundays only, same website but different editors.

FigRollsAlly · 09/07/2023 13:53

That piece is by Sonia Sodha who has been brilliant on this. She is on the Sky News paper review regularly and always puts forward the GC case where relevant, including the other night when she managed to include all the points made in this piece.

RealityFan · 09/07/2023 16:19

The more the likes of legacy MSM won't interview LGBA, Helen Joyce etc, and GBN does, the more the latter will pick up viewers.

I'm always laughing when I read Ian Dunt and Byline News etc call GBN far right and stoking division and culture war, when other outlets won't even touch GC voices.

I absolutely hate that's how society is being represented, I railed against Trump's fake news attack lines. But the BBC, ITV, Sky etc prove this unpalatable truth as every day goes past.

RealityFan · 09/07/2023 16:21

Same in US...MSM won't touch Abi Shrier, Kara Dansky, Riley Gaines etc...but Fox does, and willingly.

Any Questions didn't have any questions about sex and gender, rather it concentrated on various political issues of the day, on which India appeared ill-informed and inarticulate.

India was, as always, ill-informed and inarticulate.

I think that's fixed it.

RealityFan · 09/07/2023 16:27

Even if was a virulent TRA, the last person I'd want fighting my corner is the racist, and woefully misinformed and underprepared, and frankly incoherent, IW.

For those reasons, may she, Katie Montgomery, Peter Tatchell continue being invited on to speak.

GrimDamnFanjo · 31/01/2024 01:01

Bump! Anyone got any idea on progress?
