Is going through her peaking journey in public late at night on Twitter. She will get there eventually but the mind twists she is having to go through are excruciating to watch.

Be kind y’all - but hmmm maybe not in women’s sports and safe spaces. Ooooook Kirstie. So we are kind sometimes but not all the time? That’s cleared that up then.

She is doing a ‘Keir Starmer’. The fence sitting is hurting her nether regions.

Kirstie should do us all a favour and be a true ally of the transmen: identify as a man and demand the peerage that's going to her younger brother. Let's see all those TRA misogynists fighting for the women for once.

Ah yes! She is the living embodiment of being asked to support the benefits for ze menz, whilst being strictly forbidden to use it herself.

I wonder if this is significant in forming her thinking around all this. From birth she must have been immersed in the understanding that she was a supporting player, that her role was secondary because of her sex. Male is trumps, every time. So if a man says he'd rather pop on a skirt and join the queue for the ladies' loos at Ascot, the girls move up and think he's a jolly brave sort for trading in all that power and privilege. Poor chap for not being quite manly enough to cut it with the big boys (though he'll still get the title and the estate.)

Annaissleeping · 21/04/2023 13:56

I think with women like this, if they can't see it, they go down in my estimation so much I just focus on other people and barely glance in their direction ever again. I wouldn't watch her on tv or read anything she writes because of this and I have a craft business so have watched her crap Christmas crafts shows before - but why would I now when she's happy to dismiss the serious and legitimate concerns of others? And while I'm sure Kirstie doesn't care what many random women think about her, for some of us, this is all we will think about in the future when we think about her legacy and achievements. Because it cuts deep to see another woman dismiss these fears.

I am just grateful that so many other women DO get it and have worked so hard to protect people more vulnerable than themselves.

Yes, that's a good point. She's been conditioned her entire life to be a service human. Why stop now.

This is really profound and I think you are onto something.

It must be well weird growing up in a class system where women and girls are still officially second class citizens, where your annoying little brother is higher up the family pecking order from the moment the placenta hits the pedal bin onwards, and no matter how hard you work, no matter how clever you are, how talented, how accomplished, you will never ‘win’ the family title and all that goes with.

Kirstie went to posh girls schools and while those schools look pretty luxurious from the outsiders point of view it’s also obvious that they are less prestigious than the boy’s equivalent and I doubt that will ever change much because posh, rich men don’t need their future wives to be academically accomplished and capable of earning half the family income 😬

The stuff up thread about Kirsty going to lots of schools reminded me of Jan Morris’ daughter, Suky Morys. Neither Jan nor wife Elizabeth were not landed gentry but Jan had had the aristocratic boys education (boarder at a public school followed by oxbridge degree) and they had plenty of cash so Jan and Elizabeth’s three sons all went off to boarding school.
Suky’s education seems to have been afterthought at best and maliciously disrupted by her father’s behaviours at worst).

Bit of a tangent but…
I’m rather fascinated as to what senior school Princess Charlotte will attend, seeing as the Royal Fam are now more modern than their aristocratic cousins when it comes to primogeniture and Kate’s side of the family clearly had a middle class, upwardly mobile sensibility when it came to educating girls?
Obvs, money is no object and as long as Charlotte isn’t completely stupid her parents will be able to get her a place at any school they take a fancy to… (and even if she is stupid, it might not hurt, Harry went to Eton despite clearly not reaching their usual standards!)

Celebrated writer Jan Morris was a monstrous bully claims daughter

While Jan Morris (pictured) was feted around the world for her courage and conviction in embracing the 'real Jan' in her pioneering transition from male to female - at home she was rather different.

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 21/04/2023 19:54

I think its because she can afford to have luxury beliefs not only when she is safe in the knowledge that it has no inpact on her, but she isnt the one who has to implement and take responsibility for the fantasy.

When sharron davis asks how she intends to protect the vulnerable women and allow any man to self id, she said - "Honest answer, I don’t know. But if we consider each place in a sensible fashion I’m sure we can work it out."

Thats not answer, thats continuing to live in a fantasy world fluffing up cushions and letting everyone else live with the consequences of her privilege beliefs.

Yep she is still going. Digging deeper and deeper. They will turn on her soon though. One TRA has already got suspicions that all is not as it seems! Doesn’t she get slightly suspicious when so many people are saying that finally they agree with her on something. She will be losing all her followers that previously agreed with her and picking up a whole load of new ones that will turn viciously on her suddenly. Kirstie knows that TW are not women. She just wanted to be a bit kind that’s all. This will all come tumbling down soon.

It looks to me that the TRAs played a better PR game than the GCs. Kirstie could easily have become more GC but instead, as a result of the responses she got, she has swung towards the TRAs. I presume lots of people here will say, yeah we don't want her anyway because....and i think that's very reflective of the GC movement

ApocalipstickNow · 22/04/2023 09:13

Reflective on what?

That some people look into facts before spouting their opinions whereas others just listen to emotive sad tweets?

If she’s blocked anyone presenting facts and is only listening to those who are clapping her ego then what she’s saying is just background noise.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 22/04/2023 09:22

I think somehow GC feminism will survive without Kirstie’s support

If you're saying that they're persuading her using emotion while we're using facts, you're probably right that this is more effective for someone like Kirstie.

I wonder what will happen when she realises that nothing other than full agreement is enough for the TRAs? She'll have to agree with men in women's sports, prisons and changing rooms. She'll have to chant the TWAW mantra. Will she be prepared to do this or will she decide that women should have rights too?

That's only because having learned that their ideology is batshit that no one really accepts, they are treading very carefully with kirstie, and allowing her to say that she doesn't like to be called cis, and no to men in women's spaces like sports or prisons.

If they continue to accept that, then that's something of a significant gain for the gender critical argument, wouldn't you say?

Absolutely a win. I'm not sure that JKRowling said as much initially and was piled on with hate and death threats.

Stripeybluetop · 22/04/2023 11:41

Yes that's a very good point @Datun.
I'm still a bit sad that we didn't harness a popular person who could have spoken up about these points. Instead she has decided we're hags

Not only is the night is still young, stripey, but she can decide what she likes, as long as she gets TRAs to say no to cis, sports and prisons

Datun · 22/04/2023 12:11

I mean, we'll think that you can't be anything other than completely compliant with trans ideology, on pain of threats of rape and death.

I'm very much looking forward to being proved wrong.

It's a win/win.

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 22/04/2023 12:20

The problem with her position - lets have a women lite option for some men, is that while it sounds both inclusive and pragmatic it is anything but.

She's imaginging laws where she can giggle with dylan Mulvaney while they both do their make up in a lovely public toilet, but exclude isla bryson from following 15 year old girls in a more secluded space.

She's also imaginging that we have the same line, and that the men who dont meet the standard are going to be happy stay out of the spaces. Also that we are allowed to even talk about where the line is, because to acknowledge the line is to acknowledged that these men arent women at all.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 22/04/2023 12:27

She didn't innocently wander into the debate by accident and get shouted down. The whole thing started because she chose to rebuke us all for not #BeingKind to Dylan.

And her subsequent responses tell me that she was never up for a respectful debate.

CampervanKween · 22/04/2023 10:40

Absolutely a win. I'm not sure that JKRowling said as much initially and was piled on with hate and death threats.

I wonder if it's because JK Rowling, being something of a global megastar, immediately attracted the attention of the batshit crazy US-based TRAs, the massed ranks of the furries and liberal university people.

Kirsty Allsopp, by contrast, has by and large only been attracting the attention of people who know who Kirsty Allsopp is.

But give it time.

Although what a thing to become better known for - trying to give away women's and girls' rights. She thinks she's Kofi Annan and I just see another Jolyon Maugham type with some glittery pine cones.

EmotionalSupportHyena · 22/04/2023 13:03

😃

‘Jolyon Maugham with glittery pinecones’ is my new favourite description of Kirstie, knocking ‘Rip Van Allsopp’ down to number 2.

Kirstie's latest ill judged tweet -

twitter.com/KirstieMAllsopp/status/1650137672789229570?s=20

Given the fear I've seen on various platforms from people in abusive relationships, scared that their hidden phone would be revealed, the addition of the laughing face emoji seems particularly unpleasant.

Allsopp is right wing. Funny, I thought TERFS were all right wing, while the righteous woke lefties were the supporters of trans'women'.

Why on earth would you think TERFs gender critical feminists are all right wing?
