For those of who are aware of the Tickle vs Giggle court case in Australia, Sall Grover is looking for some gardening to be done to support her defence. The deplorable response of politicians and the press in Australia to the Let Women Speak rallies, only emphasises how important this case will be.

Just search Giggle crowd fund - she has set up her own site to avoid any potential censorship by the established sites

@Codlingmoths I’m reading it now via Newsbank. It’s on page 4.

Any key terms? I only have digital access, did a search

Oh sorry I meant the netball! I read those. I snortled at the Rudd reference.

TheSandgroper · 29/05/2025 03:51

According To the Age, this hasn’t happened. Not a word all week on the subject. However, in the Herald Sun, it certainly did happen.

The HS also has a story (two in one edition!) about a trans woman being convicted of fraud and imprisoned after claiming various government payments including for a stillbirth. The name given is male but “she” is used throughout so it’s hard to know what’s what there.

And the Herald-Sun has Mark Knight, too.

I must watch Insiders on Sunday to see if this gets an airing in Talking Pictures.

I'm delighted these men have been banned but I don't see how it squares with all the other stuff going on in Australia

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/netball/2025/05/28/two-transgender-netball-players-banned-flattening-opponent/

It is fucking nuts. I wish I could hold out hope that this would indeed make changes. However, I suspect it will remain an isolated ban for those two players. It may not even be permanent bans.

We have already seen this with Mouncey. And the Flying Bats.

Maybe though people really will push to find out how many teams are fielding these men? And how many have multiple men? Maybe then as people realise it isn’t ’just a few’, the sporting associations will start protecting women.

But seeing those pics reminds me of a video that was going round a while ago of a woman showing how her brother or mate could just flatten her in rugby as a display of the power differential. She was no small woman. But the guy just flattened her like she weighed nothing. When you see the videos of these male players like Mouncey or the Bats or these netball players, I keep hoping it will start falling into place. But nothing …

The Māori bloke has had a say in the Daily Mail and then the DM spoke to Sall Groves!

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/othersports/article-14757061/Prominent-womens-rights-activist-breaks-silence-two-transgender-netballers-BANNED-local-league-Australia.html

Before anyone calls me racism, being Māori is important because they are all built like a brick shithouse. Never a jockey to be seen. One shoulder slam from one of them, and you could be damaged for life.

Wtf? Not every Māori is "built like a shit brickhouse". Holy flippin lazy stereotypes, Batman 🙄

TheSandgroper · 29/05/2025 05:55

@334bu ooh. How about that?

FeralWoman · 29/05/2025 06:15

The woman quoted in that ABC story - that’s a man, right? Peta Guy is a guy?

TheSandgroper · 29/05/2025 06:23

@FeralWoman this would be him https://timesnewsgroup.com.au/ballarat/news/meet-the-new-breaze-president/

Thank you. Interesting idea that it is ok to have a quiet , private discussion about somebody who is obviously a danger, because he is a huge man but heaven forbid you make a simple rule excluding men. Male feelings outweigh female concussion.

for gods sake, the average Māori, Polynesian, and pacific people are bigger and heavier than the average white person. The Australian rugby teams are packed with them. As someone who grew up in those areas I was the little white runt. Here’s the nz data figure.nz/chart/aEdOrnLnoXo9ZoUp

TheSandgroper · 29/05/2025 06:23

We don’t have any information that Peta is trans and I wouldn’t jump into random speculating.

@Codlingmoths have a look at the photo.

That photo isn’t enough for me. A woman with that background is unlikely to present as particularly feminine. Look at their linked in. I don’t like Mumsnet going on witch hunts.

You grew up "in those areas". What, areas with brown people? So did I. My school was half brown. I was hardly a wee white runt in amongst them. 3/5 of my siblings are partnered with people with Māori heritage. No brick shithouses to be seen.

Your helpful graph does not support your position that Māori are hugely bigger than your average white Joe. That particular Māori netballer is definitely a big fulla however, and should never have been allowed to play on a female team.

That graph shows averages, it does support my position. And why assume I am so stupid I vaguely mean some generic brown person who could come from just about anywhere? I specifically mean in Melanesian and Micronesian countries (with some Polynesian population)
I don’t defend the use of brick shithouses, that’s uncalled for. But they are, on average, using the precisely accurate meaning of average, larger than your average white Australian or kiwi. Which is a large part of why there are so many in the rugby teams.

Deeming’s financial backer is determined to get the money from Pesutto and his backers.

https://archive.md/ZBrSH

Fundraiser is at $207k.

lcakethereforeIam · 31/05/2025 13:21

Mr Gudgeon seems, in this case, to be a good egg. Jeff Kennett though

Mr Kennett told The Australian on Wednesday that he was not concerned by the threat from Mrs Deeming’s lawyers to recover court-ordered costs, but said the Victorian Liberal Party was facing an “extraordinary implosion” over the internal crisis engulfing the opposition. “I have no worries about it all because my army training taught me you salute the uniform and support the leader, so when John (Pesutto) was under pressure, very early I made a token donation as a public gesture of supporting the leader,” Mr Kennett said. “After that I had no idea or involvement in the conduct of the court case. It was a token donation.”

A variation of the 'only following orders' defence. Ironic really. If he's so unconcerned why take the trouble to stress it was 'a token donation'. We've all been there, you get approached by a chugger and you just give them what's in your pockets. Presumably using the hand that isn't saluting the uniform.
