Tickle vs Giggle

For those of who are aware of the Tickle vs Giggle court case in Australia, Sall Grover is looking for some gardening to be done to support her defence. The deplorable response of politicians and the press in Australia to the Let Women Speak rallies, only emphasises how important this case will be.

Just search Giggle crowd fund - she has set up her own site to avoid any potential censorship by the established sites

Is this true? I hope so, the financial pressure Sal is under must be enormous. JKR said something about having “fick you money” and using it to say “fuck you”. But it’s the mail, so, who knows?

TheSandgroper · 20/01/2025 02:39

@stealtheatingtunnocks please see my point on the last page including a link to Sall’s tweet about the personal toll.

scrabblie · 20/01/2025 06:42

The fact that he's cross appealed his win to get a better win just boggles the mind at how much this speaks to what sort of self entitled, self centred selfish person would be at the centre of this ridiculous case

Justme56 · 20/01/2025 07:34

Sadly it seems like the Australian Lesbian Group who were appealing the decision to hold lesbian events (without males) have lost.

Of course - Australian women don’t have rights unless they are not biological females…

Snowypeaks · 20/01/2025 10:42

Haven't read it but only 20 comments on the DM article about JKR's involvement. Epitomises the problem Sall has been highlighting - nobody knows what's really going on.

Bloody hell!! I felt sure the court would see reason on this issue.

It would seem that Australian legislation and courts are no friends to women.

That's awful news.

But it at least makes clear how much of an ass the law can become when it abandons basic facts and the established meaning of words.
Valuable, but way too expensive in terms of money and the emotional cost to Sall Grover, who must be exhausted and very disappointed.

It also shows that UK/English courts/tribunals are more amenable to protecting rights on the basis of the actual law, not passing fads. A little ray of sunshine on Terf Island..

Thank you to Sall for taking on this important fight, and so sorry it hasn't gone your way this time.

Snowypeaks · 20/01/2025 14:40

Sall isn't part of the Lesbian group's challenge, but it's the same law - the SDA - which abolished biological sex when the Gillard amendments came in, which is destroying lesbians' right to associate without male people.

Britinme · 20/01/2025 17:13

I think a PP has said Sall expects to lose the first round but is hoping that a higher court will see the constitutional conflicts involved.

Edited

It's not enough for women's rights to be undermined, they must be comprehensively trounced.

Ramblingnamechanger · 21/01/2025 10:06

So in Australia does the judgement mean that no women can meet without men, ever? Or just lesbians? Wtf is going on?

I think it's definitely the case in that particular state that no women can meet without male people who claim to be women.

The CHAPerone law

Gillard's changes to the SDA actually brought it in line with what the courts were ruling already.
LesFest was shut down in 2004, I think (it became an invite only event, but lost all funding and opportunity to advertise publically unless they were willing to accept male attendees who identified as Lesbians - that was a VCAT ruling from circa 2004)

Snowypeaks · 22/01/2025 12:02

Interesting.
And then the Gillard Amendments put these rulings into effect in federal law by corrupting the SDA, I presume.

I'm delighted these men have been banned but I don't see how it squares with all the other stuff going on in Australia

Wow. I am incredulous this has happened in my state.

borntobequiet · 28/05/2025 15:02

The body acknowledges the pair “exhibit superior stamina and physique” in a statement explaining the ban.

Well goodness me, blow me down with a feather, etc.

FeralWoman · 28/05/2025 15:27

I was just coming to post this. Hopefully this is the first step to sensible changes happening here.

Love that they got Sal’s opinion.

FeralWoman · 28/05/2025 15:29

Before anyone calls me racism, being Māori is important because they are all built like a brick shithouse. Never a jockey to be seen. One shoulder slam from one of them, and you could be damaged for life.

Absolutely. Pretty sure plenty are employed as security guards and bouncers!

Codlingmoths · 29/05/2025 01:28

Not a word in the Age. I assume someone saw it and thought that’s a very sensible decision, our readers will think it’s sensible, and we don’t like to support such transphobia.

it is just these players, the rules are still fucked.

TheSandgroper · 29/05/2025 01:38

@Codlingmoths I’m reading it now via Newsbank. It’s on page 4.

IcyPlumOtter · 29/05/2025 02:04

I like the player's comment that the publicity is without the player's 'consent'.

Pretty sure the other teams did not consent to play against a former men's league player...
