I suppose at least we never need worry about Rishi absconding with a six grand bathrobe - he’s probably already got several at home.

ThatsGenderwang · 30/04/2023 13:16

Liz Truss ran off with the luxury bathrobes from Chevening??! Well blow me down.

That's about as weird as Antony Worrall Thompson and his wine & cheese nicking episode.

Is it all for the thrills?

Shelefttheweb · 30/04/2023 13:29

To be fair, it was likely her guests rather that Liz herself.

AIBU to think my guests were CF and should pay for the bathrobes themselves?

Nightlystroll · 30/04/2023 15:13

I don't understand what Peter Murrell has to gain having his £107,000 sat in the SNP account when they've got £1m coming in. Surely when he knew of the bequest, he'd have been on the phone asking for his money back? What am I missing? Is the problem just that he didn't declare the loan soon enough? Or he shouldn't have loaned to them as he was CEO? Or that he's loaned for nefarious purposes?
And how can it be difficult to follow the accounts? Surely you have money going in and money going out so you can see where the has money gone. How does it take a team of forensic detectives to go through the accounts? Surely that would be only necessary if they were extremely complicated which implies deliberate obfuscation.
I just don't believe they're up to anything illegal, why would Murrell put his own money into that?, but how can anything straightforward be so difficult to explain and illustrate?

Yes you were BU as you should have realised that guests consider bathrobes to be a gift from the hotel host and you were very foolish to furnish them with such expensive robes.

The loan was apparently necessary because there was no money left. I guess without it the SNP would have hit the buffers and people would have asked ‘where has the money gone?’

It's weird isn't that the loan went in to the SNP's accounts just a few months after the luxury motorhome, valued by the media at roughly the same amount by some co-incidence, appeared on Ma Murrell's driveway.

Ah well, ours not to reason why and all that.

Nightlystroll · 01/05/2023 00:36

So he lent the money to stave off questions about there being no money? They've received £1m in bequests since his loan and yet he's not got his money back. So where has that all gone? He's lost his money in effect. So he's either upto something much bigger than £107,000 or he's the most totally inept CEO not getting his money back from a million pounds of donations.
And he's now got no job and no money! And this was the party running the finances of a country?

You are all so far ahead of me. I'd never put these things together. I hope some time in the future someone does a YouTube vid for dummies for people like me to explain how the money got moved round. Do we think it's in a horsebox in Islay? 🐎

Boiledbeetle · 01/05/2023 02:06

OK I'll be honest I lost track of the SNP news in the past week.

What level of batshit have we reached now?

Has it gone completely into la la land couldn't make this shit up? or are we still on track for a rather iffy ITV drama verging on just about believable?

SquidwardBound · 01/05/2023 04:54

Iffy ITV drama is the best this shower can manage.

We’re not getting HBO-budget intrigue. 🤣

Boiledbeetle · 03/05/2023 12:07

Ooh I wonder who the lucky company is? (Unless it said and i missed it)

It doesn't say.

It could be a special new accounting arm of the SNP for all we know, set up hastily as a limited company with a PO Box on the Isle of Man.

Or it's a real firm, charging £1.4m for the job.

Or ... who knows? Any more guesses?

You know they really thought it through when the image they chose for the diversity and inclusion page looks very much of the standard ‘white, male accountant’ mould. 🤣

😂😂 But it all sort of fits with the shambles they're about to be emerged in. It looks as if their mutual ineptitude will suit each other.

anyolddinosaur · 03/05/2023 15:41

You transphobes and racists. The apparently white male accountant could actually be a female who has transitioned and who also identifies as black.

IcakethereforeIam · 03/05/2023 15:45

Perhaps the accounts could identify as trans, then they can submit any old nonsense.

Is that you Ryan(f)?

Perhaps I'll change my username to femaleRyan.
