Ahem, I believe I called that days ago.

Chersfrozenface · 27/04/2023 13:39

Found my prescient post from 11th April

I wonder if they're ringing round accounting firms who are all replying "We are unusually busy at the moment so unfortunately cannot take on any more work".

It took a while to find because I'm in a field with dodgy mobile internet. There is a river nearby, mind.

The problem for the auditors is it will be their fault that the deadlines are missed. I wonder if it might become easier to appoint auditors after the deadline as it couldn’t be spun that way then?

I would imagine no one will touch them until they’ve been appointed by the electoral commission. That affords various kinds of protection to the auditors - including in anticipation of the SNP being as frank and honest with their appointed auditors as they are being with the public.

I suspect that there may be lots of professional interest in getting a look at what exactly has been going on in the SNP finances once they can’t be blamed for missing deadlines and such like.

I mean… if you were an auditor, it does sound like there might be something interesting to look at when you’re given this job.

SquidwardBound · 27/04/2023 15:35

I wonder what crap excuse they tried to give to get an extension.

Our accounts were left in the campervan cupboard when it got towed away?

FannyCann · 27/04/2023 16:18

We didn't know the auditors had quit because the message was sent to the burner phones that fell in the Clyde?

RealFeminist · 27/04/2023 17:22

AHV LOST MA FANCY PEN SO I CANT FILL THE FORMS IN

SquidwardBound · 27/04/2023 17:46

All probably excellent examples of the ‘justifications’ open to the SNP. Fancy pens seem to be part of the investigation. Maybe they were both stored in the campervan.

Nightlystroll · 27/04/2023 18:11

Ah, @RealFeminist . The best thing out of this whole tawdry crisis is that I've got to read your comments. You do make me laugh so much.

In Davy Jones' locker along with R Vardy's phone, eh?

But the electoral commission won’t appoint auditors for the Short money of the Westminster MPs, only for the party finances?

Boiledbeetle · 28/04/2023 23:17

Oh my!

EmotionalSupportHyena · 28/04/2023 23:28

That’s quite a rainy-day fund they’ve squirrelled away, considering how much it rains in Scotland!

ArabellaScott · 28/04/2023 23:48

FFS! This is why the roads are a state, the ferries are fucked, and the schools are running out of teachers. Fucking idiots. Run the fucking country, as you are tasked to do.

What really pisses me off is they do all of this so that they can claim Westminster are starving them of money.

I presume, I mean why the fuck else would you not spend money you had lying around?

ArabellaScott · 28/04/2023 23:50

Sorry. Sweary.

ThatsGenderwang · 28/04/2023 23:57

So they could have easily solved the ferries crisis, even if they did have to pay over the odds??

stealtheatingtunnocks · 29/04/2023 03:04

Life imitates art…“That money was just resting in my account”

VaddaABeetch · 29/04/2023 06:53

They’re not very good at sums, are they?

ArabellaScott · 29/04/2023 08:17

the ferries have been deteriorating over a long period - as I understand it the SNP administration has just failed to pay the essential sums required for maintenance over the past several years. Why? Fuck knows. So they can lavish cash on their bloated third sector organisations, I guess. To produce more ideologically driven pish that ordinary citizens neither want nor need, and in many cases are having to actively fight against.

All the blahblahblah, while the actual workings of the country are left to rot.

ArabellaScott · 29/04/2023 08:17

Oh, and social media, I suppose. They spend a lot on that. To better control the narrative.
