And her clicky pen!

FannyCann · 08/04/2023 10:02

Do the police normally bring bulk supplies of tea for a long day searching people's houses? Bit cheeky to assume use of the kettle? Surely not. (And a lot of houses you wouldn't want to risk even thoroughly boiled water for your own mug....)

Tea/coffee supplies seems ok but I would have thought they should be made/drunk in one of their tents and not the house itself. But even running a cable out to a tea urn/kettle seems a bit off.

You slattern. DH cleans inside every week and the window cleaner does the outside every fortnight. I'm not sure that you deserve fruit cake.

If she dont deserve fruit cake, I shall slyly pass all the cheese on, and tunnocks.
I may have done the same experiment with windows but for 8 years.

Shrug, cant see the polis or sausages or green sausages or the barbecue under polis tents through my windows. Sure that counts as a win.

Also it was used to be believed that hares laid eggs. As far as I remember, because hares would lie down in hollows and another bird laid eggs in hollows ... I mean hares aren't birds ... hold on ....

And let's not forget the geese that laid barnacles

The Bird that was a Fish

Birds have feathers and fish have scales, right? So how could people have ever thought that a large black and white bird came from a crustacean or some strange form of fish? But, amazingly, just a …

Can anyone explain this image from one of the DM articles, of police with a crate with bumper bags of tea and cartons of milk?
Did the police bring supplies for a long day or is this "evidence" being taken away?

Hiding kitkats in plain chocolatey sight.

Maybe they have a generator in one of many vans for charging laptops/phones/boiling kettles/plugging the iron in etc?

My apologies for not responding sooner but I have been gathering and weighing evidence before reaching my carefully considered decision. The relevant point is that I have never cleaned a window in my life and am in no position to criticise anyone else. @Boiledbeetle You are not a slattern and you do deserve fruit cake. Cake

Good woman !! Now hand me that Tunnocks caramel log I can see peaking out your pocket.

Never?!! How have you managed to lead such a charmed life? Sticks cake in pocket for later.

I remember watching older generations literally down on their hands and knees cleaning the doorstep and washing the windows every week and I remember thinking fuck that!

Boiledbeetle · 08/04/2023 11:22

I'm enjoying all the articles about beliefs people had about certain animals. It's fascinating!

I think that must be going IN because the evidence crates coming OUT are green.

A relative of mine once had the police tea tent right outside her work after a major incident. They had their own hot water urns, presumably powered by the generators they had for lights and stuff.

After the appearance on this thread of a specialist in basement construction it's quite clear that the polis are only there to help establish the feasibility of construction. What does it cost to add a basement anyway?

And why would anyone want to risk digging out a basement if the house isn’t on a terraced street in an area where land is super expensive?

That seems like quite a good metaphor for the SNP.

Just a quick warning that the Contempt of Court rules in Scotland are very strict so speculation about the case should be avoided. Stick to reported facts or the thread will have to go.

On a less serious note - isn’t it lavender season yet?

What do you mean with reference to 'Lavender season'?
What an embarrassing thing to say. What business is it of yours the private circumstances of anybody, assuming you're being 'ironic' . FFS

This might be the most confusing post on this thread so far.

And, that’s saying something, since it’s been about hares laying eggs, tea making facilities in police tents, pressure washing slabs, Peter’s barbecue sauce and how long you can go between washing windows before your neighbours will stop talking to you - all because speculating on details that might be relevant to the case is not allowed.

Lavender season seems a weird one to be getting upset about.

Shelefttheweb · 08/04/2023 13:21

Just checked; Lavender harvest season is July to August. With a slightly later harvest for oil than if you are drying it.

I remember having lavender cake at a lavender farm once. I couldn’t get past the association between lavender fragrance and soap. I have steered clear of lavender in food since then.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 08/04/2023 14:41

Urgh, lavender in food is just wrong.

SquidwardBound · 08/04/2023 15:07

Garlic in food doesn’t evoke grandmother’s knicker drawer like lavender does.

So you appear to get the lavender reference but also dont get the lavender reference?

Which bit do you need explaining.?

It's school girl level, thinly veiled homophobic bullshit. Not sure why that's complicated. Tiresome AF.

I've never heard of lavender season and still don't get what it means
