It's school girl level, thinly veiled homophobic bullshit. Not sure why that's complicated. Tiresome AF.

Is it?! News to me!

EmotionalSupportHyena · 08/04/2023 15:53

Lavender is such a disappointment. Looks so nice in a photo and fresh from the garden centre but soon becomes a nasty looking twiggy snaggle.

SquidwardBound · 08/04/2023 15:53

If you add homophobic to the search you get some stuff about ‘the lavender scare’ which seems to have been some US policy.

not sure what any of that’s got to do with tent city: uddingston.

It’s also got nothing to do with my post. Why would I be referencing a US policy in a post about Scottish people. The world doesn’t revolve around the US.

Lavender in food is a definite mistake.

EmotionalSupportHyena · 08/04/2023 18:37

I don’t think I’ve ever had lavender food but I do like Parma Violets 🤷‍♀️

Feckedupbundle · 08/04/2023 19:07

It deffo isn't lavender season yet. I ordered some last month and it won't be despatched until May.
I love lavender but will never put it in food. I was once given some lavender biscuits and they were foul. And I'll eat practically anything barring tofu.

EmotionalSupportHyena · 08/04/2023 19:03

I keep looking at various alcohol things with violet in. I'd love to try them. But I'm scared I'd like them!

I've eaten four packets of Parma Violets since taking that photo. That's your fault that is.

Well yes. That was kind of my point. If you try to squint at it and find the basis for the complaint, all you can really find is some 1950s American policy. Which is surely utterly irrelevant. Even if it actually related to the phrase ‘lavender season’ itself rather than just something including the word lavender.

Given that poster seems to be offended by discussion of lavender in a thread loosely about Nicola sturgeon’s garden, I wonder what she made of me saying she’d picked up some nice pansies from the rack outside Asda.

I totally agree that lavender in food is a mistake. I’m not a Parma violets fan.

I’ve got a big bag of spogs on the go (the blue and pink bobbly ones from liquorice allsorts).

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 08/04/2023 19:15

@SquidwardBound
Yes you’re right it’s hard to see the link. I need some bedding plants too - it appears even gardening is a minefield.

Chersfrozenface · 08/04/2023 20:09

I need a pile of petunias. They seem to do well in my beds.

These are my favourites.

Jebus you have all the foodstuffs. I'm coming to yours for Sunday dinner, I bet you send peeps home with tons of leftovers. Like I send my son home every Sunday with half the contents of my cupboards, even though he really doesnt need it.

Ourladycheesusedatum · 08/04/2023 20:19

Ha, my cuppa earlier. I guessed I'd need a permanent reminder.

Those petunias are gorgeous.

Ourladycheesusedatum · 08/04/2023 20:22

And now I'm taking over the thread, I bought a shit load of pansies for some new to me planters today. I shall take a pic tomorrow when I've put them in the planters.

Fun fact, it's literally all I got from my birth father who died recently. So I've joked they are now heirlooms.

Sunday lunch can be a bit of a faff since I got rid of the cooker. But who needs actual food when you can eat sweets
