The Irish need to keep the pressure up. People power. The tide has turned. People are having no more of this nonsense.
Next step reverse the GRA.

@1Week yes but they're still not women so should not be allowed access to women's spaces. It's ludicrous. Why are their feelings overriding biological women?
Their should be no penises in women's spaces end of. I really do hope the government reverses the GRA it is of no benefit to biological women.

In that notorious interview on Morning Ireland about the Athletics decision, one of the TRA interviewees stated 'we need to find a balance between fairness and inclusion' . Unchallenged.

It said it all. Trans inclusion (in sport, in changing rooms, on shortlists etc etc etc) is unfair. Particularly to women. Any belief system whose core argument is that fairness should be compromised has lost.

Hooray for rank-and-file Gardai who won't have to tell rape victims that the person who stuck a penis into them was a woman.

Penny Mordant seems to be a woman who will support her brothers no matter how dodgy thay are. Mary-Lou seems likely to support her brother. BUT our political parties (none of whom are Tories), have to work within a system that is democratic, and they know it.

Bláthannabuí · 06/04/2023 09:55

@DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry I really feel that now is the time on the back the world athletics decision, what happened in Scotland & what will potentially (& hopefully) happen in the UK that the parties here will have to revisit the GRA act which is not in the constitution & can be revoked or abolished.
It's not working in women's favour. Men's kinks & demands are over riding women's..

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 06/04/2023 10:20

Women are in the constitution, they've revoked and abolished us easily enough.

If her brother became a property developer, we'd be all over her to make sure she didn't advantage her brother and everyone else's expense.

The Gript have a video up on Facebook of a huge protest from parents in Swords North Co Dublin today if anyone can post the link here? Huge well done to all the parents interviewed! The pushback is huge!

11 minutes of a video well done Gript 😊😊😊 Radio silence from RTÉ, more parental pushback. I'm from Co Meath I'd have gone had I known!

There's been a bit of a backlash against trans rights over here but on the whole most people don't agree with anti -trans activists. There's a lot of healthy scorn for all these weird outdated conservative types and fingers crossed the support for all rights will continue.

I guess I'm a weird outdated consevative type so!
Actually I'm not religious, a left-wing middle-aged mother, and I think you underestimate how many people are waking up and realising the damage that's being done to women and children. I support trans people but their activists have pushed for too much now and they are doing serious damage. Every one of my friends are equally horrified by what's been going on without us realising.

And I think a pp is right. Once the schools started being affected people really started noticing. Belong To is doing programmes in my DS's secondary school (all boys). His class were re-designing hypothetical inclusive toilets the other day. (I did not know this in advance.) He came home and said they'd decided that anyone trans could use the ladies. I said, well, it's of course very good to organise things so trans people feel comfortable but I'm afraid women mightn't like the solution you've come up with, and mentioned religion, women affected by DV etc too. And how women sometimes need their own spaces to feel safe.
And he was so shocked - and none of that had even been considered or discussed in class. It was all completely one way! And he's 12 so I don't expect him to intuitively consider things from a woman's POV but this is NOT how we should be educating our boys. This is wrong.

Yup @Dishwasherdisaster it's the one way direction of all of this that's so concerning. You simply can't change policy and law wholesale in a way that half the population are left worse off, and not expect resistance. If an acre of land gets rezoned you have recognised pro and anti sides. We've every right to be concerned, how dare anyone say we don't?

Bláthannabuí · 06/04/2023 22:52

It's not education with our government & their hidden agenda. It's indoctrination.

Dishwasherdisaster · 07/04/2023 00:35

I think the problem is letting outside agencies with a political agenda come into the classroom to 'teach' in such an unbalanced fashion in the first place.

I don't know. I'm sort of baffled by how all this has come about. Especially as there is such a focus on teaching kids about the importance of consent nowadays (a real change from when I was a teen). Yet there was and is absolutely no consent asked for by this ideology which allows males who identity as women into women's spaces or sports. None at all, and threats and cancelling and name-calling if you object.

Yeah, I guess I just find it difficult to reconcile how so much emphasis is now placed on teaching consent, and at the same time non- consenual access to women's spaces has become accepted as a right by many. I suppose it's back to TWAW, but I don't think most Irish people accept that. Very happy to accept they're TW but that's it.

Bláthannabuí · 07/04/2023 00:45

I've been letting my TDs know that I would fully support the Countess coming into schools to empower girls. They are a fantastic organisation.

Wondering, could you explain how support for all rights will continue, when trans rights (eg for males to enter women’s spaces) are in direct conflict with women’s rights (eg to single-sex spaces)?

Dishwasherdisaster · 07/04/2023 02:11

Yes, I'd like to know the answer to that too please.

Bláthannabuí · 07/04/2023 08:50

RTE still haven't reported about the book being removed from the curriculum. Disgraceful silence for them considering how many parents have welcomed the move & how many hundreds of thousands of children will benefit.
