Boycott New Zealand

Let's hit the state sanctioned violence against women where it hurts - in their pockets.

Off the top of my head:

Wine - Oyster Bay, Villa Maria, the Ned, Wairau Cove, Brancott Eatate, Cloudy Bay
Lamb - check the label to make sure it's British
Manuka honey and ordinary honey - M&S stock quite a few.
Wool
Allbirds shoes
Canterbury clothing.

Have I missed anything?

Also write to the PM: [email protected]
Minister for trade: [email protected]

And tell them you're boycotting and why. There's no point if they don't know you're doing it!

Just checked the Tesco lamb I plan to eat for Easter, it's British!

Why anyone boycotting is buying M&S honey is beyond me, they have Queer ideology boundaries breaking changing rooms.

I do buy the odd item there I can't buy elsewhere, they have lost a lot of my business.

So sort of boycotting so long as it's not an inconvenience?

3littlebeans · 27/03/2023 08:42

Whaeanui thankyou for posting. And I and no idea the statistics were that bad. That's shocking. A point where male violence towards women has become so normalised other women aren't recognising it?

sashh · 27/03/2023 08:44

Is anyone else amused by us being called 'colonisers'? In English? By people in the south pacific?

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 08:45

@TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand solidarity sister! Kia Kaha! I know, she shamed herself calling women and Maori women here colonisers!

ShimmeringShirts · 27/03/2023 08:46

@sashh oh don’t spoil it, it’s funny to see them trying to use that one. It’s almost as if they have no concept whatsoever of their own history.

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 08:46

FYI the elderly lady we saw punched in the face twice hasn’t been located by organisers yet so I hope she is ok. One of the stewards has a broken foot. But sure, there wasn’t any violence…

Flounder2022 · 27/03/2023 08:48

FordCreek · 27/03/2023 02:02

Or you could get him to do his own domestic chores! Hmm

He does know how to work a dryer, right?

Yes. Let’s separate all the chores to make our point!

Is anyone else amused by us being called 'colonisers'? In English? By people in the south pacific?

That bit was amazing. Er, yes - the people still over here in Europe are definitely the colonisers, and not the the people of European descent in the place that was colonised.

FOJN · 27/03/2023 08:49

And this thread only makes me even more ashamed.

The only people who need to be ashamed are the TRA's who perpetrated violence, the lying media who fanned the flames and the people defending both.

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 08:49

@sashh well I’m Maori so not amusing for me but I get your point! They are clueless to their own part in this. Still. Like… do they realise they’ve directly benefitted? That the land wasn’t given back and all the poor Maori she sees are a direct result of that. It’s so nice her life in NZ is so perfect while Maori have the worst health stats and live in cars…

I am in the USA, I wonder what products are well known over here, other than NZ Lamb? Anyone have ideas?

People obviously like to visit NZ due to LOTR being filmed there. Who would have known the country really was full of Orcs?

😂😂 I love this comment. Who indeed would have guessed that NZ really is full of Orcs. They’ve completely proved it with the gross scenes we’ve been treated to. Orcs indeed.

Hey I held back, I was going to mention the flag too. And they still have a king don't they? Oh and two national anthems. Remind me what they are.

@Whaeanui thank you for your contributions.

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 08:53

I tell you what always bothered me about those dumb LOTR & hobbit movies… orcs were the parts Maori got and any good roles by kiwis were pakeha. Plus of course Hobbits law sucks and Peter Jackson is an interfering rich white dude who bought the Wellington mayoral election so he could prevent Maori from selling land for housing when he wants it for a museum about his dumb movies. I have always boycotted the Hobbit because of hobbits law, now I boycott anything touched by Jackson. He’s a jerk.

NZ woman here. Currently feel very safe, thank you very much, as do all my female friends. Yes, we are urban, educated women, but from all sides of the political spectrum. Feel very proud that we stood by our transgender sisters, and can't help but laugh at how much this has caused the UK to froth: why are you so concerned about us? Focus on your own country, and the climate of fear in which you are living. We are absolutely fine, and proud to be leading the world in female rights again. Mumsnet does not represent the way the huge majority of my friends feel, and Posey Parker most definitely does not speak for me: the coloniser arrogance...

boycott away!

Our transgender sisters😹

that person in the ill- fitting pink dress who pours liquids on people who don’t share ( insert relevant pronoun) views? You are proud to stand beside that?

Blimey.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 27/03/2023 08:54

I don't think the "It's just like Afghanistan" hyperbole is helpful, because it conceals the true risk to women in NZ. Yes, it's true that women in Kabul and a few Afghani cities had freedoms in the 70s that they have since lost, but that's because those freedoms had never been embedded in the country as a whole.

NZ is not going to fall to a Taliban-like theocracy. It's far more insidious than that. You can see from some of the comments from Kiwis on here that they are unaware that single-sex spaces and sports have already been removed from women there. Given the media bias, that's not surprising but it's worrying. We have already seen this in liberal states in the US, like Oregon. Women did not see what was happening until it was too late.

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 08:54

@sashh well we have a Maori King but it’s not who pakeha call their king, no, that would be Charles. The women who first sung the anthem in Maori still cries today because of the way NZ reacted, with pure unadulterated hate.

PatientZorro · 27/03/2023 08:57

My apologies @Whaeanui, I was drawing a comparison with the violence and hatred of women that we witnessed on our screens, I had not considered the cultural implications that you described above and I’m sorry to have offended.

KittyAlfred · 27/03/2023 08:58

Bowlofporridge · 27/03/2023 02:30

Shame on you for making the logical leap that I support violence against women. The biggest perpetrators of violence in NZ are male partners against their partners. I do not support any violence against women, be they cis or trans.

Also, lesbians do not have the right to meet without males?? What on earth are you on about? That's just absolutely ridiculous…

How sad to be so scared. I am happy to live in a city that has spoken out loudly for inclusivity, rather than prejudice.

Feel free to speak your piece on any forum, NZ or otherwise. But don’t you proclaim that you speak for all women, or that anyone who doesn’t support your views advocates violence.

There’s no such thing as cis. Just thought I’d mention that.

magicthree · 27/03/2023 08:58

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 07:53

Oh do get over yourself. I would be very surprised if anyone on the feminist boards visited NZ

SOME OF US ARE KIWI! Don’t come here attacking this board. They can boycott who they like. And tourism is in big trouble in nz after covid so I don’t think people relying on it would appreciate your attitude!

I can attack whoever I like on this board - after all, attacking all and sundry (i.e. all those who don't fit into your rabid feminist coven) is a specialty of those on these threads.

You sound like a broken record. Boycott away - do you really believe that everyone on this thread had plans to visit NZ in the near future and has now changed their mind. You are deluded. As I said, where would they find the time, surely frothing is a full time occupation.

Yep and we don't get many Maori visitors in the UK, so we don't see you on a day to day basis.

BTW can you recommend any Maori owned businesses we can buy from?

Seems they’re proud of that one too.

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 09:03

You sound like a broken record

You sound like a racist misogynistic enabler. I sound like a broken record speaking about violence against women and girls and racism? I think you’ve stumbled onto the wrong board, this one actually cares about these issues.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 27/03/2023 09:03

The violence that occured at the protest was not supported by the majority of kiwis. it wasn't even supported by the other angry protestors as you can see in the video the mans own friend pulling him away. There will always be outliers, and opportunists who attend these sorts of things.

//

Outliers? Opportunist? SHE WAS A 70 YEAR OLD WOMAN FFS.

It is pathetically unacceptable to just call a disgusting act of violence like this an act of an opportunist.

I am sick of hearing gender critical views bring deemed literal violence while at the same time seeing something like this.

Wrong side of history, my arse

knittingaddict · 27/03/2023 09:03

I remember from years back that NZ had some major issues with child abuse. We were looking at moving countries at the time. I wanted to check before I posted, so I've been looking online.

It seems that NZ has one of the worst rates for domestic violence and child safety among developed countries. Worse than the UK. It might be safe to wander the streets, but it appears that behind closed doors children and women are definitely not safe.
