Let's hit the state sanctioned violence against women where it hurts - in their pockets.

Off the top of my head:

Wine - Oyster Bay, Villa Maria, the Ned, Wairau Cove, Brancott Eatate, Cloudy Bay
Lamb - check the label to make sure it's British
Manuka honey and ordinary honey - M&S stock quite a few.
Wool
Allbirds shoes
Canterbury clothing.

Have I missed anything?

Also write to the PM: [email protected]
Minister for trade: [email protected]

And tell them you're boycotting and why. There's no point if they don't know you're doing it!

I am aware of the data, and you don't seem at all qualified to comment on it.

Why don't you train up for a few years, and put yourself in a position to carefully evaluate the stats and the context around the stats.

If you are still making analysis of this sort then and insisted you were correct, and you were in employment, your employer would fire you.

Ha, it's very clear that you have no understanding of statistics at all :-)

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 15:35

That’s not prejudice, as a pp said

She is talking about 'males' and pointing out that now 'some' males are allowed to access these spaces because they have identified as 'women'.

Yet, that throughout time we have called out the "creepy man" who calls themselves a woman to get access to women's spaces to expose themselves.

This is true. Historically men dressing as women in the women’s loos were called creepy and everyone thought they shouldn’t be there. What is prejudice about that? I don’t know how old you are but I’m fairly old and this is accurate. I’ve been flashed in a changing rooms as a child by a man, he was naked completely and my mother called him a creep. Today a naked man in a women’s changing room would not be escorted out immediately like that man was then

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 27/03/2023 15:37

I've got to hand it to you, @suggestionsplease1 : you really have memorised the TRA social media playbook

  1. That assertion is wrong/bigoted, and you have no data to prove it
  2. You do have data, but not from a reputable source
  3. The data are from a reputable source, but are wrong for <insert pseudo-scientific or made-up statistical reason of choice> so the data don't prove what you think they do
  4. Multiple people have shown me why the data do, in fact, prove that, so I'll chuck in some random insults
  5. I have some data to disprove yours, but you're too stupid to understand it/I am too busy to share it with you

Have I got them all?

It's there in plain sight, I'm afraid I'm not going to handhold you through it.

Posie Parker "We remember a creepy man how they made us feel and now we're telling our daughters don't worry love – he calls himself a woman!

We knew when we were younger that those were the creepiest of men!

We knew it!

We could say it!

Nobody rang the bloody police about it because the police knew it!

We knew!

Way back a guy wrote a book about serial killing and often serial killers because serial killing is often a sexual kind of motivation. Starts with flashing, exposing one’s self, then it is minor sexual assault, then it is rape, then it is murder, that is how serial killing works. It is sexual fetish we know how strong they are. Often, those men were auto gynophiles.

We knew this. We knew it. The Police knew it. And now suddenly they have been rebranded as stunning and brave and vulnerable."

Excellent! Keep posting that section.

Maybe you can point out where she is saying that either the person who is doing this is a trans person OR that all trans people who are male are exposing themselves to women and girls?

We know that some males, including some trans people who are males, will do this though and the current societal pressure is to shame the women and girls who complain when it happens. Such as WiSpa. Such as Lia Thomas.

We are getting closer at least.

I look forward to you pointing it out though exactly where rather than your own twisted interpretation that you vaguely mention.

You reckon we have 10 year old's understanding. Explain it to us like we are 10 years old.

So ALL the readers can see what you mean.

You live in the arse end of nowhere, in a place that relies heavily on tourism

Can I just say that those gallantly defending nz to these comments and are outraged on our behalf, we say this ourselves!! It’s a fact. NZ has a big problem with such a small population and so many overseas, we don’t have enough people and therefore we have insufficient resources to have a good, free health service for example. Tourism is really really important and people in that industry are desperate for people to go back.

Clymene · 27/03/2023 15:41

@CremeEggQueen - you're late to the thread so you really don't need to post every thought that occurs to as you read from the beginning. The conversation has moved on.

I don't see that the section quoted is necessarily about transpeople. I don't assume that someone talking about creepy men is equating them to tw. Doing that would be kind of transphobic imo.

Yep.

Many Australian's have been known to say 'we are the arse end of the word'. I use that term all the time.

It is pragmatism that reflects our relationships with the rest of the world. And it is sometimes used as a positive as well for many reasons.

Silverperch · 27/03/2023 15:47

There's such a smug, patronising tone from women who come on here defending what happened.

And then there's the voice of women like Whaeanui.

I know whose voice I respect.

I think they're more saying that a 10 year old could easily understand where bigotry is, and so could others really on this board instead of playing daft and pretending they can't see, or saying they need a handhold in order to see it.
It's exactly like you see with racism and homophobia
Just different flavours of bigotry, but all the same

Racism. Like commenting on a person of colour's skin colour as a fake tan?

Do you mean the posters who can’t see punches to a 70 year old woman and mob violence and focus on anything else instead.

Yep there’s a few, only a minority tg.

Clymene · 27/03/2023 15:53

Fine. Bore away. 👍

You won't mind if I don't engage with any of your points because it's really dull repeating conversations.

Hate to do the "Not All UK" but I'm going to - PP and fans dont speak for me!
Dont know what's going on in the UK lately but we seem to be going backwards.

Have you denounced the violence against women yet?

A man Smacking a 70 year year old woman in the face is progressive apparently.

As is barricading scared women in a rotunda. And throwing an unknown substance at a woman is funny and paying out on her after with 'soup' mentions is the peak of such comedy.

But no. No denouncement.

I've always denounced any violence, and I do in this case too.
Never acceptable whoever it's coming from.

CremeEggQueen · 27/03/2023 16:09

Throwing a liquid on somebody is fucking stupid too, and I dont get why people sometimes minimise it
Its assault, pure and simple and "oh it's just tomato juice/milkshake whatever, no big deal.... 🙄
Yes it is, it could have been anything and it's never funny

Excellent. Discussing heavy fake tan on police officers of mixed race is also pretty confusing to see minimised. I agree!

The data from the US and Canadian prison systems look very much like the data from the UK, with roughly the same percentage of trans women having been sentenced for sexual violence crimes and that percentage being higher than the same for the general male prison population.
