Shocking scenes in Auckland, TRA pours liquid on KJK

JacquelinePot · 25/03/2023 09:59

I'm not even sure what to say about this, I just find it really shocking.

Baying mobs surrounded the intended event, one got onto the podium and poured red liquid all over KJK and KJK had to be removed amidst a huge crush.

I hope everyone is OK.

Those protesters are so kind and tolerant, aren't they?

Where is this cartoon from?

Thats more like it, better than the misogynistic ones I’ve seen so far

@Whaeanui So many thoughts, & so much love & goodwill, are concentrated on the women of NZ now.

New Zealand podcast/radio show that has extended their program into a 3 parter to discuss Albert park and take calls from women who were there

I am listening to this now. So scary to hear the experiences of the women omg

I know, some of them are still so shaken by it.

The TRA who assaulted KJK has been invited to the UN to honour women during Women's Month. You could not make this shit up.

Nearly 15,000 signatures collected from people who want to register their disgust at the TRA's behaviour on Saturday.

nilsmousehammer · 27/03/2023 16:21

Jesus H. Christ.

There needs to be an active protest on that, it's appalling. Celebrate a man for beating up a women trying to platform women's voices? And call that 'honouring women'?

nilsmousehammer · 27/03/2023 16:23

Reading on, apparently this already took place.

Violent men representing 'women's rights'.

Absolutely fucking done with this.

IcakethereforeIam · 27/03/2023 16:23

I've seen that @FOJN that seems to have happened very fast though. Could it be an older occurrence? I think they had a bit of a profile before due to being a refugee/DSD sufferer.

<everything crossed>

IcakethereforeIam · 27/03/2023 16:36

Kiwibank posted on 3rd March that Shaneel Lal, misogynist and cry bully, was one of its three finalists for young NZer something or other. Hopefully, it's being rethought. Though looking at the receipts posted on that thread I'm astonished he was ever considered. And what do I know? He might still win. Apparently, he writes a column for the NZ Herald. That shouldn't surprise me. There's a Change petition about that if anyone wants to look it up.

I've just noticed the lady who was punched seemed to have been wearing a Maori iteration of the AHF t-shirt. That makes me smile and simultaneously feel so sad. I hope she's okay.

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 16:41

NZ Herald has two racists writing for it, a guy who is obsessed with the colour and race of sportspeople and makes tired old racist stereotype comments about them and one who called Polynesians leeches because she thinks they take too much from NZ- she’s South African! The fact they have a woman hater too doesn’t surprise me.

Didn't do enough checks about the UN invite, my bad. Looks like it's already happened.

WRT Jazz: Most kids show some gender non-conformity, even when older. at 3 I think it's pretty meaningless, they haven't even reliably coded whether many things are meant to be male or female.

Jazz has been shown on the tv show, at least once, on a date with a girl. But all the evidence is that Jazz has never felt sexually attracted to anyone, or sexually aroused under any circumstances.

I think people sometimes over-estimate how many kids that get drawn into this turn out to be gay. It may have been more in the past but now things seem somewhat different. Parents who transition young kids like Jazz was seem to have other kinds of motivations, and a lot of the teen girls have a weird fantasy version of a very girly version of teen male homosexuality which is promoted in a lot of graphic novels..

I wanted to tell you all that the group of Maori women that invited her felt very scared and embarrassed and full of guilt for inviting her when it turned out to be so dangerous but have been so comforted from the uk women here and online for all your support. They’ve had to rescue a member who was doxxed and search for the lady who got punched, someone had their foot broken too… but all your support is helping. They are distraught at being referred to as far right. Please keep the support coming and remember: Maori women invited her, they are committed rights activists and are NOT NAZIS.

It is definitely not their guilt, well done to them for trying.
I am so sorry some were hurt so badly.
Maybe one day we will hear their voices, soon I hope. Never give in you lovely women.

On Friday my opinion of NZ was a pleasant country of easy going, slightly leftist people who were either Jacinda Adern or Kane Williamson, where Maoris were highly respected members of society, as evidenced by the All Blacks performing the Haka in their honour. I now see it as a country populated by racist, sexist wife beaters that would embarrass the BNP and performing the Haka as egregious cultural appropriation.

StepAwayFromTheBiscuitJar · 27/03/2023 19:52

This type of stuff is part of the reason why I've been politically homeless for years. I don't like all the smarmy Tory boys but the left has had a high contingent of bonkers for as long as I can remember.

First it was feminists protesting the alt right and basically doing similar things to what the TRAs are doing now - violent mobs physically blocking people from entering events they didn't like or disrupting speakers and stopping them having their say, etc. Now it's turned inwards and become infighting. There really doesn't seem to be a moderate choice nowadays.

Whaeanui · 27/03/2023 20:01

I have conflicting feelings about the ABs performing the haka. We haka first at rugby matches, before anyone did anthems and at a time when they were trying to discourage us from speaking our language at all. It was done poorly then though! It wasn’t until the 90’s that we started singing the Maori version of the anthem as well- and the woman that first just did it at the rugby World Cup, Hinewehi Mohi, was crucified by media and public in nz. She was so excited and then suddenly everyone was angry. So for a long long time, the only thing we had was the All Blacks doing our haka. When they started to practice and learn it properly in the 80’s, because the Maori captain insisted, then it become really well performed and led almost exclusively by Maori players only- sometimes a captain will fill in and might be pakeha. That they also composed a specific haka for the all blacks working with Maori leaders and experts, is also a sign of respect that I think is very genuine and with Maori players involved. However, they sold a chunk of NZ Rugby to an American tech firm recently and I hate that 😂

Violent mobs of feminists, eh? When was this?

'basically doing similar things' - like what? Pouring liquids over the main speaker? Using drums, bullhorns, music, etc to drown out every speaker? Kicking on windows, punching grandads? (and that's not even the whole list)

Have you seen this lot on here when the new Tunnocks delivery arrives.. It's vicious!

And as for the pouring liquids...you can hear the collective click of the kettle sometimes!
