Shocking scenes in Auckland, TRA pours liquid on KJK

I'm not even sure what to say about this, I just find it really shocking.

Baying mobs surrounded the intended event, one got onto the podium and poured red liquid all over KJK and KJK had to be removed amidst a huge crush.

I hope everyone is OK.

Mana Wahine Korero Gender Identity & Maori Culture

picklemewalnuts · 30/03/2023 22:12

@Whaeanui I hadn't realised how ignorant I am about NZ, Māori culture, and all things connected, until these threads. Is there an idiot's guide anywhere you could point me to?
Some things have been mentioned in passing that I didn't follow up because I was trying to keep up with the core content. Now I can't find the references to look them up! There was something about two rugby players being confused for each other, despite being from different groups (?), and someone has just mentioned Pakeha women.

RealityFan · 30/03/2023 22:44

What an absolute star!
Any interview with The Guardian or Novara News yet?

Whaeanui · 30/03/2023 22:57

Pakeha means non-Maori

I can’t really think of an idiots guide… you could look up things like the land March of 1975, maybe look up Maori women ( Wahine ) activists, I have spoken of a few over the last few days… this lady is a well known singer and presenter ( nothing ti do with this issue but Maori culture ) the channel has interesting interviews https://youtube.com/@teaowithmoana4758

I saw this a while ago that’s interesting on the land wars

I love this from Joolz Denby

RealityFan · 30/03/2023 23:14

Have seen reports on Twitter of NZ police replying to calls from women panicked by the Auckland mob, their reassuring words being, and I quite, "we're not here to help you".

I don't like that image either. It's frightening.

I used to live in NZ and have often talked of going back. Not any more. I fear for my female relatives there now. I sincerely hope that all this sunshine manages to bleach out the rot.

Whaeanui · 31/03/2023 07:16

It depicts this photo Posie took and posted herself

Cailin66 · 31/03/2023 07:18

I like the image, it’s powerful. I think it actually emphasis the strength of KJK. She is one heck of a brave woman.

Whaeanui · 31/03/2023 07:26

I liked this too

I know what the image is, but I think the artist's version looks much more like blood. It's a violent image to my eyes. I don't want to see her depicted covered in blood! The sauce was repellent enough. Maybe I'm a bit over-sensitive.

But that’s the effect that the soup thrower wanted to create: that she’s covered in blood.

It’s a very powerful image not least because it has a very powerful story behind it - anyone looking at it who doesn’t know what happened last weekend in NZ may want to find out more, and will be horrified when they do. The soup thrower has scored a superb own goal because the image strengthens the Let Women Speak campaign.

Joolz is a terfy tattoo artist from
the UK who for many years was associated with the band New Model Army.

https://www.joolzdenby.co.uk/

The JK artwork is by a trans artist called Cat Graffam.

I actually think Cat Graffam is a pretty accomplished artist - the JK image was an illustration for a Politico article that was a dumpster fire of misinformation.

I remember Joolz from the 90s (when she looked like this) and I am THRILLED that she’s a terf ❤️
