Violent mobs of feminists, eh? When was this?
Well, not to the level of the TRAs but there are striking similarities.
I'm not very up to date as my short lived fascination with identity politics wore off about a decade ago but I remember that Milo guy constantly having his events crashed by feminists. In one they got in and set off the fire alarm. The guy was a smug prick tbf but I quite enjoyed watching his debates.
The other one that springs to mind was actually mentioned on here recently. It was a protest of Warren Farrell where a mob of feminists were blocking entrance to the event and the police had to be called, at which point they started acting abusively towards the police.
What reminded me about the above was that it shared similarities to the treatment of JK Rowling etc where people demonise without actually taking the time to understand what the person is really saying.
In this case Warren Farrell was I believe saying that no doesn't always mean no, or at least not historically. He gave the example that sometimes a woman will say 'no' but indicate otherwise with body language etc, and that this used to be seen as 'exciting' . He was basically saying that women sometimes play hard to get and that some men enjoy the chase. However, the feminists were quoting him as saying 'date rape is exciting' which is another statement entirely.
Yeah, he was a bit of a muppet for not anticipating the shitstorm those type of comments would make but he didn't seem to be saying in any way that date rape was exciting, yet the mob had their 'reason' by that point. All the TRAs have done is stole all the identity politics stuff from feminists and taken it to a new level of bonkers IMO.
