Another victim of mixed sex toilets

Came across this report from one of the cities round here.

Head injury, bruises, boys kicking doors down trying to take photos of girls using the toilets...

“It is an ongoing problem at that school, there are unisex toilets so girls and boys have to share and the boys go in and take photos of the girls, kick the doors down and there are no locks on the doors so they are going over to the cubicles to take photos and videos which is a massive concern.”

Gemma claimed that the locks on the cubicle doors have been 'broken off' due to students kicking them so frequently. “Well, there are no locks on the doors, they have all been broken off because the boys kick them so much,” she said.

She claimed that her daughter has been disciplined for using the toilets at quieter times during the day. “What my daughter is doing is she is waiting until it is nearly lesson time to go to the toilet so there are no boys there, and she goes to the lessons late and then gets a detention for it,” said Gemma.'

I can't fucking stand this. No wonder they're rioting.

That school is breaking the law and their illegal act (to make toilets unisex where they aren't individual contained cubicles) has now predictably resulted in serious physical harm to this poor girl.

I bet they didn't do risk assessments as well as not listening to parent complaints.

The Dfe and useless Keegan is responsible too.

I hope this girl's mum sues the school, LA and Dfe so she can get enough money to send her daughter to a single sex private school.

I would set up a monthly donation to any crowdfunder to take legal action.

I'm betting this girl won't use public toilets again if she can't be certain they're single sex. Poor child.

I’m not surprised in the least. In my day we didn’t have mixed sex toilets, thank goodness, but there were boys who thought it was acceptable to grope girls, and also boys who’d rummage through girls’ school bags to find sanitary products to snigger at.

I wonder if the management of that school are clueless and naive, or if they think incidents like these are acceptable collateral damage?

Going to an all girls school is no guarantee these days that there won't also be people with penises at the school.

No but there's less chance this would happen and she could speak to the head to sound them out and make it clear single sex (not gender) would be a requirement for paying to join.

Plenty of head teachers haven't totally abandoned safeguarding: my dds school (state) has single sex loos.

I remember very quietly opening pads in school, so embarrassed that someone might hear, and we had single sex toilets! I can't imagine the humiliation of trying to change a pad or tampon while boys act like animals kicking doors in.

Absolutely disgusting of the school. And disgusting of the parents of those boys to fail so badly in raising them, to be honest.

That is absolutely disgusting, That poor girl, All those poor girls and some of the boys also by the sounds of it. I mean who the hell is benefiting from any of this apart from the bloody bullys!

That head wound is horrific, poor girl. No wonder she is too embarrassed to go to school after that. What a horrific environment for girls to be forced to attend.

The school should be cracking down on this like a megaton of bricks, but it sounds like they have been aware of the issues for a while and aren't taking it seriously.

I wonder if the assault has been reported to the police.

The predators are being enabled by the school.

Is anyone monitoring outcomes from these cases? Is anyone at the school going to be held accountable for breaking the law and serious safeguarding failures? Which parents WARNED about from the sounds of it.

What happens with an injury like this caused by another pupil as a result of failure of the school safeguarding wise? MASH referral?

Why the push for unisex toilets? I once wrote to a local theather about the conversion of the ladies' to unisex toilets.

About 4 years ago, DD herself rejected one of three posible secondary schools because the toilets were unisex. Stupidly, I didn't even think of it! But at 11-12 she just knew, luckily.

The boy needs a proper punishment too - this is at least three transgressions in one, violation of privacy, physical injury and the intent to take a photo of her undressed.
Just having a door kicked in on you fully dressed is frightening as fuck, let alone the violation of voyeurism and head injury on top.

I don’t know how things work within a school system but as a mother I would want a police report made. This isn’t normal teenage lack of impulse control, it’s sexually predatory behaviour.

I don't want to derail the thread but, as an example, the Girls' Day School Trust has been very clear on this - and predictably has had loads of criticism e.g. from Penis News.

Excerpts from GDST Gender Identity policy:

The GDST is committed to single-sex education for girls. Admissions to GDST schools are based on the prospective student’s legal sex as recorded on their birth certificate.

GDST schools are able to operate a single-sex admissions policy, without breaching the Equality Act 2010 on the basis of an exemption relating to biological sex. The GDST believes that an admissions policy based on gender identity rather than the legal sex recorded on a student’s birth certificate would jeopardise the status of GDST schools as single-sex schools under the act. For this reason, GDST schools do not accept applications from students who are legally male.

Regrettably, parents need to go to the Police and file a complaint rather than relying on the school to take action.

When a school tells parents that "evidence shows that mixed sex toilets are beneficial" - ask them from their data.
There is none - except from the very self interested toilet manufacturers / installers who push this fake fact at schools for their own financial benefit. Stonewall captured schools just accept this with girls repeatedly being the casualties.

It makes me so angry that teachers have so little regard for their female students, and don’t care what is/can happen to them in mixed sex toilets.

Why aren’t they up in arms about this!

I reckon if we actually looked at how many schools are in hock to Stonewall who are busily gaslighting children to believe they've been born in the wrong body and that girls have no right to boundaries from boys and men, we'd be horrified.

This is horrendous.
Hope the parents go to the police/ofsted/ and sue the arse off the school and the LA, this girl has suffered harm as a result of the school’s lack of safeguarding.

That poor girl! The toilets should not be mixed, as this article very clearly shows. Obviously we can all agree the violence is completely wrong.

Even in general I don't think I'd like it now as a 30 yr old woman. I was morto in womens bathrooms opening pads etc in my teens I can't imagine doing that in a mix one as a self conscious teen.

This is a totally unacceptable situation, that poor girl. I have emailed Minister for Women and Equalities, Kemi Badenoch, the local MP Colleen Fletcher and the Secretary of State for Education Gillian Keegan to bring this to their attention. Probably won't do any good at all, but maybe if enough people did they might actually do something.

Interestingly the school in question started out as a boys only school in 1954, it seems that the attitude towards girls has not evolved since then.
