I think we're all missing a trick - the fashion at the moment seems to be to call yourself anything and get very stroppy when others refer to you by your actual name or your actual sex. If your ego is very fragile you might feel this is not quite as exotic as you'd like it to be though - so it's time we all embraced our inner creativity and went with whatever our feelz tell us we are.

I just sat here for a while and thought about my dear old much loved friend Mark who died last year. Then I thought about changing my name to Mark. I horrified myself because I respected Mark and I still respect all his family and friends. The conclusion I've come to is that this man must be quite mentally unwell to take someone else's identity.

for me (possibly inspired by Julie Andrews) a person's name is literally what they call themselves, so I'd have no problem whatsoever in using this new name if Izzard and I were on first name terms. and, yes, it goes without saying that a person's choice of name doesn't impact the material reality of what, biologically speaking, they are.
