Equality Act - what next?

The petition to look at this seems sadly to have virtually ground to a halt:

Government have responded with a dismissive:

'providers are already able to restrict the use of spaces/services on the basis of sex and/or gender reassignment where justified. Further clarification is not necessary.'

What next?

We know that providers, while technically able to exclude males, just do not and will not. Nobody seems to agree on or understand the law fully. Legal experts get in huge tangles arguing about it.

The current situation means women are excluded from many women's spaces, there is no provision for single sex services apart from Beira's Place in Scotland, there are still males in women's prisons, and in hospitals.

What do we do if the government and EHRC won't listen? Whatever the law says, this situation is untenable.

What number are we aiming for today?

Or is that to ambitious on a cold damp Monday morning?

@ScrollingLeaves OK yeah this is strange. This thread no petition in title and on FWR appears in Active. The other with the word Petition and in the petition section does not appear in the active. So is it the board they are posted on that determines it? Our does it not show threads with certain words?

This petition was going well during the Isla Reynolds new cycle guess we need a final push out to our networks

I knew there'd be something. I noticed you beat me too it so I posted a link to an AIBU diversity inclusion and referred back to the petition link just above my post.

Nearly at a half thousand marker 85,494 signatures

I reported the ‘Petition to update the Equality Act - thread 2’ which is on the ‘Petition’ board to say it isn’t showing up in ‘Active’.

This has meant a huge waste of time and untold signatures not gained probably.

85500 people have signed. We still need another 14500 people to sign

@ScrollingLeaves I've just posted on both. I did this one first then the other one in petitions. So the petition board one should be above this one right? Wrong. It's not there
