Equality Act - what next?

The petition to look at this seems sadly to have virtually ground to a halt:

Government have responded with a dismissive:

'providers are already able to restrict the use of spaces/services on the basis of sex and/or gender reassignment where justified. Further clarification is not necessary.'

What next?

We know that providers, while technically able to exclude males, just do not and will not. Nobody seems to agree on or understand the law fully. Legal experts get in huge tangles arguing about it.

The current situation means women are excluded from many women's spaces, there is no provision for single sex services apart from Beira's Place in Scotland, there are still males in women's prisons, and in hospitals.

What do we do if the government and EHRC won't listen? Whatever the law says, this situation is untenable.

I am considering putting a link to the petition on my LinkedIn on IWD but I'm struggling how to word it. My audience is predominately middle aged white men. Any suggestions?

Just to feed back to you all, I only got a generic reply from Standing for Women with regards a bumping tweet about this.

I imagine they are all super busy putting sparkly tops into suitcases and generally prepping for the SFW Oz and NZ tour understandably.

The petition is doing amazingly well but happy to try again if it flags, as am sure PP would support MN and this petition.

@NotBasically perhaps something like the Staniland question

'Do you believe that male-sexed people have the right to undress and shower in a communal changing room with teenage girls?'

You could give an example of such a male sexed person, such as the lovely Isla with the picture that, arguably, cost Nicola Sturgeon her job. Such flattering pink leggings.

Does anyone know why not?
