They are biologically female. They don't need special targeted marketing when it comes to period products.

well, obviously they do. That's how free markets work. If there wasn't a market for the product then it wouldn't exist. You're upset about something that doesn't affect you. That's silly.

How can there not be a market for feminine hygiene products? There always has been, long before we weren't allowed to call ourselves women 🤦🏼‍♀️

dimorphism · 23/02/2023 19:05

This is normalising girls going down a pathway that results in sterilisation, loss of sexual function and lifelong disability.

Listen to Chloe Cole; or the many many other detransitioners which talk about the damage of being on testosterone. Vaginal and uterine atrophy. The damage of double mastectomies.

I have sympathy for those with dysphoria but there are already period pants for men for 'leaks and incontinence'. Why don't they use those?

Advertising like this is partly why there's been an explosion of ROGD in teen girls. It's not just about what people want to do, in a society what people do affects others, and in this case children.

Selling packers to kids of 4 (or 5 or older) is child abuse - it's clearly sexualisation at a young age. Kids don't need to obsess about genitals at this age. It's insane. You've got to wonder who it benefits, not the children.

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g

Yes. Made in child sizes as well.

Lock the fucking doors.
The lunatics really have taken over the asylum.

They are period pants. They're not exclusively marketed at trans men. The model is a trans man.

Why you so mad.

She doesn't seem mad to me. Are you sure you aren't projecting?

Yet here you are, upset about a thread on the internet ...

Between them and the equally hideous snag tights , I'm lost for words tbh

What's wrong with Snag tights?

CharlotteOwlFace · 23/02/2023 19:52

@Jaxinthebox well nothing I suppose if you like to see tights modelled by extremely overweight men with beards and their chests out

They make tights into fetish wear basically

CloudPop · 23/02/2023 20:10

Surely if you were a trans man you would just get a mirena coil (or other contraceptive methods that precent periods) to avoid periods? Isn't that the gender affirming course of action ?

I don’t t know how that would work with male hormones. I can imagine it being a bit of a toxic cocktail.

I can't say I have noticed any bearded men modelling their tights. Grin I do like their tights though.

The last photo is the best with what looks like a giant woman and a tiny girl-man 😂
What I don't understand is if the girl identifies as a man then why hasn't she had a mastectomy?

Teatime55 · 23/02/2023 20:48

How many of these do you think they sell. And how does that compare to the number of women who have stopped buying their products?

On that subject, I really do hope that transpeople can succeed in 'normalising' having whatever healthy body you were born with.

Nobody should feel they need to remove body parts to conform to any kind of body ideal.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 23/02/2023 20:58

Lolojojonesi · 23/02/2023 16:19

Yep. I just don't get all the hate. It baffles me.

Wanting a historically marginalised group to retain the right to their own name and to the resources they have fought for to mitigate that marginalisation is not hate.

No one objects to a female person presenting however they wish and being made visible in that presentation.

We do object to a female person who insists that womanhood is not the same thing as being female because in doing so (s)he unavoidably requires us to redefine Womanhood for every single one of us. (S)he, in her need to define herself as Not Woman while having to acknowledge the fact she is female, undefines womanhood for all of us and in doing so, disempowers all of us.

It is not hate to reject another person's unilateral imposition of their own prejudice on oneself and ones people.

It is not hate to say "No, this definition you require me to accept for myself is not true and it damages me"

I think that ship sailed some time ago.

What's the problem?! Why shouldn't someone who was born a woman and menstruates, but identifies as male and wants to live as that gender, be able to buy a product that accomodates that? Live and let live, it's not causing you any problem, it's just making life a bit more managable and enjoyable for others...

This. It's just pants. TBH I quite like the idea of cycling short type period pants.

No bikini line worries 🤣

mrshoho · 23/02/2023 21:18

Wouldn't transmen who want to wear a packer prefer the normal plain black normal modibod briefs?? Why the need for these in your face designs?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/02/2023 21:30

Everyone seems to be buying period pants these days. Trans women wear them too apparently. I feel sad for the bio woman who actually has to deal with this shit for real. Not in a imagined way, who has enough trouble dealing with cramps and pain, flooding and the shitty end of being female. Without wondering where the pecker, real or plastic will fit.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 23/02/2023 21:43

CloudPop · 23/02/2023 20:10

Nope. Because having demanded that their personalities cannot possibly exist in a woman's body and thereby redefined womanhood as an unspecified-but-definitely-not-bodily bundle of preferences, character traits and behaviours, there is no reason now not to reassert the fact of their female bodies. As long as you don't actually use the word female, or woman, or any other similar collective noun to group the people who share the same type of bodies together.

Shesasuperfreak · 23/02/2023 21:49

They should just wear a Kotek night pads.

Its makes me look like I'm wearing a pecker!

MargaritMargo · 23/02/2023 21:57

Deadringer · 23/02/2023 17:12

I am as gender critical as they come and I don't have a problem with this. Trans boys/men presumably sometimes have to deal with periods and if this product helps well and good. (Fugly as it is) As long as the promotion of this product (that benefits only a tiny number of people) doesn't take precedence over products for the rest of the female population I don't really care. Pick your battles and all that.

Yeah I tend to agree with this, transmen are still biologically women and will need access to period products and gynae care right?

I don’t like the term gender affirming, how can you affirm a gender by wearing a pair of boxer shorts when you are literally bleeding through your vagina? I don’t believe an item of clothing defines a gender. Apart from that irritating sentence I am not bothered and agree, all women, regardless how they present or live their lives deserve access to period care and products that work for them.

Access? What female bodied person has been denied "access" to period products and gynae care?

Why do we need to agree with this nonsense that these products are also for men, in order for biological females who deny their biology to be able to access them? 🤯

Meh, each to their own.
I don't need or want one of those but why shouldn't trans men have them if it makes them more comfortable?
Chocolate and wine and big pants makes mine more comfortable, if these make someone else more comfortable, that's a good thing, surely?!

turbonerd · 24/02/2023 05:43

OldCrone · 23/02/2023 18:37

Because male is the default. So some girls/women who identify as non-binary need fake penises and sometimes have mastectomies.

Ok. Thanks for answering. That does show some very strange way of thinking though, doesn’t it?

in biology it is female that is the default/standard. Though socially I do see that men have some advantages.
