Gender affirming in women’s clothing sizes.

It's like a school playground where all the bullies gather round and laugh and point at people who don't fit in.

People who don't fit in? Like men wearing period pants?

What's the problem?! Why shouldn't someone who was born a woman and menstruates, but identifies as male and wants to live as that gender, be able to buy a product that accomodates that? Live and let live, it's not causing you any problem, it's just making life a bit more managable and enjoyable for others...

So glad you wrote this. I don’t understand the outrage either.

nepeta · 23/02/2023 16:33

Erasing/redefining all words which have been referring to people of the female sex does have an impact on our lives, and this is one example of the trend.

risefromyourgrave · 23/02/2023 16:34

I love that the model is striking a muscle pose, just so we know that they’re a masculine person.

Gender is an oppressive social construct which tries to shoehorn people into particular roles according to our sex. It should be obvious why feminists have a problem with someone trying to 'live as a gender'.

CandlelightGlow · 23/02/2023 16:39

I like them, good for them! The model looks great and it's nice to see a trans man modelling period pants as plenty of trans men do still get periods 😇

I don't like using moon cups but I do want more sustainable period products so I reckon I'll buy some, thanks for linking.

Yep. I just don't get all the hate. It baffles me.

Please quote the posts you believe are hateful. Disagreement is not hate.

@ArabellaScott
Thanks for the new tongue twisters. I'm going to be saying:

Pugly period pants with a plastic pecker pocket

and

My plastic pecker pocket can be used for petty pilfering

all day now 😂

Appropriately enough, today is International Tongue Twister Contest Day (apologies if you both knew that): www.checkiday.com/3b18bce505b32e00b3c61261048941ee/international-tongue-twister-contest-day

sqirrelfriends · 23/02/2023 16:48

I’m gender critical but I don’t understand why a company wouldn’t want to make profit from a product for trans men who have periods.

It doesn’t impact anyone or take anyone’s rights away so I don’t see the issue really. I don’t personally want to live as a man but if someone does then what business is that of mine?

Also as a feminist, I believe all females should have access to their preferred period product. So what if it looks like pants.

It's also National Chocolate Covered Peanuts day.

I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere about peanuts/periods/chocolate/pants.

Put paid to period pain and pack a piece of peanut brittle in your plastic pecker pants' pocket?

I'll get my coat.

Peter Piper picked a packer and popped it in his period pants. A packer of puny penile proportions Peter Piper picked.

If Peter Piper picked a packer of puny penile proportions, where’s the packer of preposterous penile proportions that Peter Piper previously picked?

Deadringer · 23/02/2023 17:12

I am as gender critical as they come and I don't have a problem with this. Trans boys/men presumably sometimes have to deal with periods and if this product helps well and good. (Fugly as it is) As long as the promotion of this product (that benefits only a tiny number of people) doesn't take precedence over products for the rest of the female population I don't really care. Pick your battles and all that.

I’m buying some just for the pouch, warmth and no vpl. Dunno about gender affirming but they’re very useful. That way they can broaden their customer base. They’ve missed a fab chance there. So glad they do them in womens dress sizes though…..

No, it's a mixture of incredulity and weary despair that a company which provides products for the female experience of menstruating is buying into an ideology which teaches girls, often vulnerable girls, that there is something wrong with their healthy female body. These pants may be fairly trivial but puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and surgery are not. Promoting these pants is normalizing this ideology.

For: Light to moderate periods or discharge, on those days you want to wear a packer.

Wtf is a packer??

There is something seriously wrong with you. How old are you people? How is this funny?

Pathetic and vile.

sqirrelfriends · 23/02/2023 17:30

It’s threads like this that make people think mumsnet is transphobic.

No one’s rights are being infringed on, no one has been been called a degrading name. It’s like the issue is with people being trans.

That advert is for fake penises for girls. It's clear from the photo that they are not for adults and the advert refers to 'boys' not men.

You might not have a problem with companies flogging plastic penises to children. I absolutely do.

Happylittlechicken · 23/02/2023 17:32

Do you think 4 year olds should wear fake penises @CandlelightGlow ? Do you feel that is an appropriate product to manufacture and sell? Why?

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 23/02/2023 17:35

ffs that is just ridiculous. As you have said seen it all now. What is happening in this world that men trying to take over our spaces and now our bodies. Men do not get periods even if they are trans.
