I am glad Nicola Sturgeon is gone, she had no ability or interest in listening to critics and it is impossible to write good law or govern well without doing so. Time and time again she has put ideology above sensible decision making. Children became simply tools to be manipulated to her own ends - be it named person, gender ideology, voting, independence etc. Even a Scottish government report admitted that the face coverings they were required to wear in the pandemic possibly increased infections but by making school children wear them people in the community would be more likely to follow suit so they should keep them mandatory in schools.

Some people cry ‘she gave us free university tuition’ but try and get into study law in Edinburgh and you will find English students can get places and you can’t.

BaronMunchausen · 15/02/2023 15:47

@Wiluli I guess everyone here is either English or really doesn’t care we stay under English rule for another hundreds of years

Strange as it might seem, there are people here who aren't even British 😱

Some of us attach importance to the rights of women and girls internationally.

Well that's blatantly untrue. Anyone who's hung around here for any amount of time would know that posters have a great deal of knowledge and acquaintance with people who are trans identifying. Many are here out of concern for children's safeguarding, often their own child. I've been in these parts under different names for over 10 years and have a gender non-conforming child and a friend who is transsexual having had the op over twenty years ago. Don't you dare come here with your half truths and smears.

- -They like her in Russia. They call her Beluga. - -

Don’t be silly ! I actually based that sentence on facts .

You're humourless, aren't you? Beluga Sturgeon / caviar.

I hope @SuePine73 keeps on being silly because that made me properly larf.

TeiTetua · 15/02/2023 15:51

Before we dance and sing, let's hear who's going to take her place and whether they're actually likely to be an improvement. Good people are harder to find than bad ones.

FrostyFifi · 15/02/2023 15:53

It seems the only ones celebrating are ranger supporters in Glasgow

Those that know me, and my utter lack of interest in football, and revulsion of anything Old Firm, will be startled to hear that I'm now a Rangers supporter.

I suppose it'll make buying me gifts easier?

This is true. But we are allowed a moment of hopeful joy, aren’t we?

And there is hope is so much of the media reporting linking NS pushing through the GRR to her resignation now.

Why you are all so happy about this is beyond me. If youvthibk the tories will do a better job for women’s rights you are deluded !! Not to mention she is highly respected abroad and I I’ll be very hard to find someone who can do the same . I guess everyone here is either English or really doesn’t care we stay under English rule for another hundreds of years . They treat us so well 🙄🙄🙄

Why you are all so happy about this is beyond me.

I'm not happy, but I don't blame those who are. Mostly I feel relief that she can do no more damage soon, anger that she's created an almighty mess and now gets to leave it to others to fix and disappointment that she failed both the strategy of convincing the people that the SNP is competent in power by failing on education, health, drugs, poverty, ferries, infrastructure, etc etc and the entire independence movement.

If youvthibk the tories will do a better job for women’s rights you are deluded !!

Most of us don't but it cannot be denied that Conservative MSPs are the ones that have most consistently raised serious issues about women and children who are being harmed by self-id policies and gender identity ideology.

Not to mention she is highly respected abroad and I I’ll be very hard to find someone who can do the same .

That is changing as the gloves have come off. Did you read Craig Murray's post? The First Minister has been given an unnaturally easy ride by mainstream media (almost entirely unionist) for years, and yet in the past four weeks, as Murray points out, that has changed. We've had four weeks of relentless questions, and now there will be a reckoning of her actual performance. Her reputation will be in tatters after that and rightly so.

I guess everyone here is either English or really doesn’t care we stay under English rule for another hundreds of years . They treat us so well 🙄

Guess again, but please cease the xenophobic rhetoric and stick to talking about the UK Government rather than making disparaging remarks about an entire people.

Nicola Sturgeon
Said our concerns 'weren't valid'
Oh, how times have changed.

Ha ha! I love this

EsmaCannonball · 15/02/2023 16:01

Maybe she planned this whole shit-show so she and her husband can go to the same prison?

Shelefttheweb · 15/02/2023 16:05

What is likely to happen now is a bit like what has happened to the Tories; the SNP will scrape by longer than they should with second rate leaders because the opposition is still too weak (and caught up in identity politics) to hold them to account.

We need the SNP to lose their concocted majority and spend a term in opposition. During that time the whole SNP needs a total refresh with new MSPs selected for their political acumen and integrity rather than loyalty to the party leaders. They need to rethink their approach and realise they need to earn independence through good management of Scotland, not by blaming Westminster. And they MUST get rid of that undemocratic promise never to question the party.

Penguinduvetcover · 15/02/2023 16:07

The timing of Isla Bryson couldn't have been worse.

Disagree, the timing of Adam Graham couldn’t have been more perfect!

BalloonInvestigator · 15/02/2023 16:12

It was the pink leggings photo for sure. A picture paints a thousand words......

Penguinduvetcover · 15/02/2023 16:12

I am proud to be Scottish living in Scotland and I am delighted with NS announcement today. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

it was certainly a picture of an “individual “ with a fully functioning dick!

NicolaSturGONE · 15/02/2023 16:15

SNP voters needn't worry, Nicola can still self identify as first minister.

Childrenofthestones · 15/02/2023 16:15

Now that's a bigoted comment if ever there was one.

Bellie710 · 15/02/2023 16:24

Best news ever!

Sugarfree23 · 15/02/2023 16:26

What we all need now is for Keir to also stand aside.

We need a strong 💪 labour party who also know the difference between men and women is dicks and fannies, not jeans and hairdos. (Or pink leggings)

Isla that photo was like a gift from God

Kate Forbes is being tipped. She's said to be an opponent of the GRR act.
