I thought posters were sounding quite happy on this thread tbh

You may disagree with her but she is trying to get this difficult issue right. A teenager trans girl was murdered this week. Isn’t it time to take some of the heat and the hatred out of this debate and focus on being kind and treating people with dignity?

And two women are murdered each week by their violent male partners. Men are violent to a much much greater level and frequency than women and this is one of the reasons why we want to keep them out of our spaces. Men being in women’s spaces is an inevitable consequence of trans ideology.

As for Brianna, the Police have said there is no evidence of this being a hate crime. Although it seems they have now been told to re investigate this possibility. But please don’t use the death of a child in your attempt at emotional blackmail- it’s sickening

Shelefttheweb · 15/02/2023 15:27

Wiluli · 15/02/2023 15:19

Because police has confirmed it’s a line of enquires they are actively following ?

Yes I think the number of teenagers killed in stabbing this year is shocking too.

I’d love to see a tiny % of the anger here towards NS for the decision with prisons towards the Tory party for the shambles they have created with the court system which means rapists aren’t prosecuted and the Met Police are a disgrace. That’s a far bigger threat to women than trans people are.

I'm very vocal about this both online, in my job, and with my friends and family.
If you're not aware of the anger about this you're either not looking or assuming it's other people being angry. And of course, what makes the headlines is kind of arbitrary.

And again, it's not "trans people" that I believe are a threat to women. It's male people. I wouldn't even know how to tell if someone is trans now, especially after Sturgeon indicates their gender is in question based on their actions.

NicolaSturGONE · 15/02/2023 15:31

I'm seeing very few sad messages that aren't from SNP MPs or MSPs. the overall mood is jubilation.

I can't see Kate standing for FM. She's on maternity leave, plus isn't she a christian? How would that work with the trans rights agenda? I don't think Humza is popular. Swinney has already tried and failed. Mairi Black is a possibility but could she do both Holyrood and Westminster? She'd just further the trans agenda which has been evidenced as a vote loser. So who then??

Kier Starmer will be doing absolute cartwheels as this has handed him the election (although I'm not too happy with Labour's stance on trans either).

Signalbox · 15/02/2023 15:31

I've not read the whole thread...

LOJ has declared that "history will be kind" to NS.

He's so obsessed with how people of the future will view us isn't he?

Is that what comes of being continually critical of what people were doing 10 / 20 / 30 / 100 years ago.

most people on MN don’t care about trans people they just believe they are mentally I’ll and call themselves feminists for it . I never quite understood how such bigotry can be so promoted

"Bigotry" again. So boring. It's always easier to fling insults than produce clear analysis.

Shelefttheweb · 15/02/2023 15:32

Met Police are a disgrace

Will you be directing some of that ire at the Labour London Mayor, Sadie Khan, who has authority over the Met?

EdithStourton · 15/02/2023 15:33

Sorry, mate, but you're being clueless.
I do care about the wellbeing of trans people, but I'm also concerned about:
women's sports
women's prisons (does the name Isla Bryson ring any bells?)
women's safety (given that transwomen offend much like men do, and women have single-sex spaces like changing rooms to protect them from men)

It's not bigotry to want to protects women's rights.

I was thinking that! I must just be used to the cut and thrust of FWR.? Although the rest of MN is a fairly terrifying place to me!

yourhairiswinterfire · 15/02/2023 15:35

I can't imagine the state of the MN collective blood pressure Grin
It's like a tabloid comments section these days. Perhaps less daily mail reading and more haiku might help...

Well that's us told. Silly women talking politics, tut tut. Bad for the blood pressure, better get back to the small things our little lady brains can handle like changing nappies or sitting quietly in the corner looking pretty with our knitting.

I wonder if LOJ thinks history will be kind to Maggie Thatcher? She was the formidable female politician of the previous generation that he’s invoking with this tweet.
Although unlike Sturgeon, Thatcher didn’t pretend to be a feminist…

Sadiq Khan has been outed as trans? On Mumsnet?

Wow. That’s a plot twist I didn’t see coming! congrats to London’s first ever Lady Mayoress, I guess…

EsmaCannonball · 15/02/2023 15:40

It's come to something when my absolute baseline for a politician is 'an ability to recognise and acknowledge objective material reality' and so many of them can't even elevate themselves to that low standard.

Anyway, nobody likes a collaborator. Bye, Nic!

@Wiluli

Not to mention she is highly respected abroad and I I’ll be very hard to find someone who can do the same .

They like her in Russia. They call her Beluga.

🤣🤣🤣

Fluffymule · 15/02/2023 15:44

I’m enormously happy that she’s gone.

I do think there is more to it than her indefensible and unforgivable betrayal of women and children with the GRR issue - pending financial scandals and the other issues many posters have already mentioned.

However the one thing I’m grateful to Sturgeon for is that her dogmatic fealty to Gender Ideology coupled with her arrogance put the cold hard reality of what GI politics and TWAW means when imposed in actual real life.

With massive media headlines, unforgiving, unfiltered visual evidence, the emperors clothes were shown to be missing. And the public saw, and didn’t like it.

Other politicians know this now. Of course the battle isn’t over yet. But I do think Sturgeons downfall, now forever linked to her position on GRR and GI, will help.

tigger1001 · 15/02/2023 15:44

"It seems the only ones celebrating are ranger supporters in Glasgow , if you are like them you can join . I wouldn’t be very proud of it"

What has football got to do with it??

I'm on the east coast and don't support rangers. I don't base my political views on a football club. I am happy she is going. Although am also worried about who will replace her. I can't help think she went before she was pushed (or at least pushed publicly) and wonder what will be uncovered now.

Maybe scotland can now recover and be somewhere I am again proud to live.
