Oh I am so pleased to see this thread reinstated @mumsnet.

My thoughts and prayers for peace and healing are with this little girl and her family.

I hope justice can be done. No-one deserves to be a scapegoat, the proper routes of justice must be taken.

But I think the dual nature of how this is being reported is very eye-opening.

If prosecuted, would he be likely to be jailed?

Helleofabore · 08/02/2023 10:00

Thank you MNHQ for reinstating this one!

AlisonDonut · 08/02/2023 10:01

Oh what a tangled web we weave.

This is going to be a tongue twister as Nicola has to now explain why there is a fourth sex, male, female, rapist and now child abductor.

ShireWifeofNigelFarage · 08/02/2023 10:01

This photo, from the Daily Mail is awfully incongruent with the online reviews. I made a collage!

@Vebrithien - even if the girl wasn’t physically harmed it’s a vary serious offence. Whether he’ll be bailed on a tag or to a bail hostel I don’t know, but I would sincerely hope not as the man is clearly a danger to children and once charged will have nothing to lose. Considering the circumstances he would be best off pleading guilty (which would obvs be best for the girl too).

Thank you @ShireWifeofNigelFarage . I am glad to hear that, even if he didn't physically harm the girl, it is still a serious offence.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 08/02/2023 10:12

Don't you know, it's just a man when they've done something bad to women now.

VargaV · 08/02/2023 10:13

MargaritaPie · 07/02/2023 21:55

What does this have to do with transpeople?

As much as it pains me to click on and skim through a Sun article, it referred to the suspect as a man and doesn't mention trans anywhere.

Never happens eh?

Datun · 08/02/2023 10:14

I see someone has already linked to the Reduxx article where he talks about removing boundaries from children and 'misguided morals.'

She was found relatively quickly. I dread to imagine what would have happened to her had it taken longer.

scratchedbymycat · 08/02/2023 10:22

Stonewall includes cross dressing as "trans" and in Scotland he most certainly would be accepted as a woman by the police and courts if that what he said he was.

Yes, in Scotland, a man is a women if they say they are. That's the principle of self-ID. This bloke identifies as a women on both his Facebook profiles - even the one that has his man picture. (You don't need to look like a women to be one). He is most definitely trans.

ShireWifeofNigelFarage · 08/02/2023 10:23

VargaV · 08/02/2023 10:13

Never happens eh?

PIE only ever really pops up to deny trans can be related to fetishistic behaviour or that a trans criminal is actually trans.

Obvs we know not all ‘trans’ is a fetish thing, swishy little boys who have to trans before they are allowed a My Little Pony is obviously something else (homophobic parents, clout chasing parents, parents groomed by false suicide statistics etc) and teenage girls who take on a male identity shortly after periods start (who wouldn’t be tempted by manhood at the thought of 35 years of menstruation?) is more like anorexia or cutting.

But adult males who transition from middle age onwards? Ones with a history of minor sex offences (eg stealing underwear off washing lines)? PIE must think we are all idiots.

VargaV · 08/02/2023 10:39

@ShireWifeofNigelFarage

Oh yes, never happens. The poor trans are marginalised victims. Some lovely examples of the poor wee wimmin here: terfisaslur.com

wingsoverscotland.com/nicola-sturgeons-identity-crisis/

The Act does, though, expressly include cross-dressers as “transgender”, so any suggestion that Andrew Miller is simply a cross-dressing man, as an explanation for how he’s being referred to in the press and by Police Scotland, would appear to fail immediately.)

They do know that for many (most) men, cross dressing is sexually motivated, right?

I never understand how they can be so upfront about willingly sacrificing the general public, including children to men's fetishes.

Boiledbeetle · 08/02/2023 13:50

Nicola's head must be going into 'I just want to be catatonic in a corner' mode by now

Vebrithien · 08/02/2023 13:52

The BBC article now says "Andrew Miller, also known as Amy George".

Which is more than it said earlier.

catandcoffee · 08/02/2023 13:55

Great news they are using both names... the ☀ is shining on this story.
Hope that poor little girl is unharmed !

scratchedbymycat · 08/02/2023 14:04

Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't women been visited by the Scottish police for hate crimes wrt misgendering? If so, can those women bring a case against Scottish Police? Why are the police allowed to misgender /deadname but no one else is? You can see how Sturgeon's "the individual" keeps her legally safe.

ShireWifeofNigelFarage · 08/02/2023 14:06

trying to understand the seriousness of possible charges/sentence lengths

This text on this Scottish doc frustratingly small:

www.scotlawcom.gov.uk/files/8712/7989/6603/rep102.pdf

Looked at the CPS site for quick feel on potential charges and abduction and kidnapping are two different offences (kidnapping may apply if she was physically snatched, if coerced or lured it’s more likely abduction?)

Minimum sentence for abduction in E&W looks like 7 years?

Most abduction cases are estranged parents so gotta wade through that.

Apparently Scotland have a common law crime called ‘Plagium’ which is ‘child stealing’. Doesn’t look like it gets used tho.

ShireWifeofNigelFarage · 08/02/2023 14:09

Scratch that, plagium was definitely a thing as recently as 2017, though rare (4 cases that year)

It would be very unfortunate if an offender 's lawyer was able to argue in court that the case should be dismissed because the extent and nature of media publicity had swayed the jury and made it impossible for the accused to get a fair trial.

Slothtoes · 08/02/2023 14:17

Reading this made my blood run cold. I hope that poor girl is getting the support she needs after this horrific experience.

Considering they found the child IN HIS HOUSE I would imagine the best course of action would be pleading guilty.

so glad she was found.

as for that man whose house she was found in. Words not enough to say
