Cynically, I suspect that the only reason he will possibly be put into a male prison is because the amount of attention this case has had, as with the Isla Bryson case. A less high profile prisoner would undoubtably be placed into the female prison estate as per the (as yet unchanged despite being under review for quite a number of years now) SPS policy.

Agreed. If it weren't for Bryson's pink leggings and poorly concealed dick all over the front pages, they'd be fully on board with putting this man into a women's prison.

He's 'identified' as a woman for at least 6 years and meets all the requirements for a GRC under the Scottish Government's own rules. The reverse ferreting to disassociate from him by newspapers, the Government etc is very telling.

I'm local. I hear (caveat: I don't know) that she's doing 'as well as can be expected'. What's particularly sad is that, whilst no one can predict a sudden monstrous act like this, Miller did exhibit a clear escalation of anti social behaviour & criminal behaviour (stealing women's underwear) for some time. Its abhorrent that he will he able to formally 'change sex' in prison & re-emerge (in many years) as a 'woman' with a clean sheet. He's a predatory male sex offender. For life.

I'd like the Labour Party to be asked specific questions about what happens if an individual with a GRC behaves in this way.

I think at the moment they are in a woman's prison.

I do hope this man never gets access to vulnerable women.

And women are not being transphobic for pointing this out.

Twenty years is a reasonably long sentence but it would be better if he was guaranteed to die in prison. The ordeal that young girl suffered was absolutely horrifying, there's no rehabilitation for depraved men like this.

I'm glad that he's been given a long sentence. In sex crime cases, I feel that they should have to do every day of their sentences.

I hope that the young victim can feel safer now, even though she'll never fully get over what he did to her.
