Solitary confinement is a punishment within a punishment, not somewhere that a prisoner can be held for their entire sentence.

It's pretty disgusting that this is getting more traffic on MN and in the press than the awful abduction and murder of Bennylynn and her daughter. The perpetrator didn't have to dress as a woman to commit that crime and in fact probably raised less suspicion.

You are just looking at the wrong board. This one is purely for SEX and GENDER discussion, so the awful violence Bennylynn was subjected to is being discussed on other boards.

As for wanting the rapist to go to Cornton Vale, Jeez! The risk assessment is to see if the rapist is in danger FROM the other prisoners, not if they're in danger from him. Which they absolutely are, by the way, deny it all you like.

Also, at present there is no GRR bill in place, so all the things you're complaining about have NOTHING to do with that. In fact English law at present is much more beneficial to trans people and the GRR was brought in to bring Scotland up to speed! It is NOT Nicola Sturgeon's bill but received cross party support from MSPs of all parties.

There is ONE women's prison in Scotland, Cornton Vale, and it houses all sorts of women whose crimes range from debtors/ fraud to serious murder, violence and sex crimes. The prison must risk assess each prisoner and some will be in solitary confinement- particularly sex offenders.

The posters who literally hate and fear all men as "more predatory"... could we focus on actual male violence against women by non trans men then ?

This case is a total gift to the anti trans brigade but it's obvious the person was a complete and utter oddity and well known in his community.

Even males who have had extensive body modifications have enough male cues to distress a female inmate.

Are you seriously willing to put female inmates at risk of any type of harm based on a male prisoner's feelings?

You seem to be missing something here? That they are all MALES! (at least that is who I assume you are talking about with 'non trans men') MALES = TRANS IDENTIFIED MALES + ALL OTHER MALES.

You cannot talk about violence against women and children by males without discussing ALL MALES. You are attempting to exempt a group from safeguarding.

Why do you want to exempt any group of males from safeguarding?

A poster only just realising that yes, gender identity ideology does impact so many different aspects of life. Ourselves as women, our lives as mothers, our children, our employment, our sports ... literally nearly every aspect.

And women need to discuss it.

I regularly look at many other topics - eg gardening, property and DIY, housekeeping and can't say I've seen anything about trans in any of them. Is this yet another myth that doesn't stand up to scrutiny? That every topic on Mumsnet is full of TERFS when it isn't true?

This is wrong legally and has been for over 20 years and I cba to fact check the actual date because I'm sure you'll do it eagerly.
It's also wrong medically as there have always been intersex people who've been assigned a gender at birth which has been wrong.

I don't think this whole issue has been something either of you were frothing about in 1999.

The most interesting thing about this whole debate is why it's arisen. Trans people have always existed and were well tolerated for years.
Why do you hate them now, or are you just generally bigoted?
