Trump has peaked

Surely the gender nutters have to reverse ferret now? Surely?

He is a transphobe. He's totally uninterested in this except as a point to beat the Democrats. Nothing about the safety or dignity of women. He is actually the person Sturgeon was talking about.

Well the Democrats only have themselves to blame for giving Trump room to talk actual sense. People are angry about this, and it will win him votes.

Indeed. His perspective on this comes from a position of transphobia and opportunism, not a genuine concern for women and children.

This is a man known for sexually exploiting women, including very young women ffs.

Unfortunately, The Nicola got all confused between The Donald and the Scottish public.

senua · 01/02/2023 15:19

Bad timing. Just as Britain was starting to understand the problems, courtesy of Sturgeon ...
Now we will all be labelled Trump-supporters.

He's a hate-mongering transphobe. A real one, not a "believes sex is binary and immutable" one that we get accused of being. If supporting trans people would get him votes he'd probably lie about and pretend to support them because he's a shameless in pursuit of what he wants. But he hates them because they are of no use to him.

He hates women, he hates lesbians and gay men, he hates immigrants, he hates people with disabilities. He is racist.

The fact he has made this statement has nothing to do with the protection of women's rights, nor to protect vulnerable young people from irreversible damage.

I can agree with Hitler, Pol Pot and Trump that the earth is round. It doesn't mean I'm on their side.

Very well put.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 01/02/2023 15:09

Well that's interesting. Wonder how long it will be for the "you're discussing Trump - you're all right wing fascists" to arrive. Then we can have some fascinating discussions about supporting male rapists, sex offenders and paedophiles to access victims in women's prisons versus listening to a vile politician speak (mainly) sense about the sterilisation and mutilation of children's bodies and minds.

Already in full flow on Twitter - I saw the chatter before I knew what had actually happened. There's lots of triumphant 'you're all right wing bigots!!!' going on.

I don't think Trump is doing it because he wants to support women and girls but if the TRA's want to go down that route, then they might want to examine their own links to horrible people. 'It was all for Beth' and all that.

And as we've seen recently in Scotland, shouting about how kind and progressive you are while standing in front of signs calling for women to be beheaded sets a bit of a jarring note. And as Lorna Slater found out to her cost, you need to have evidence to substantiate claims about right wing funding etc or you end up looking a lying idiot.

OTOH British feminists have long known that the 'nuculur family' and gendered roles are detrimental to the well-being of women and children.

That history doesn't just disappear because an orange man wants Big Parma and off-licence hormones investigated.

is this a pre Groundhog Day in joke?!

DarkDayforMN · 01/02/2023 15:25

Isn’t one of his main potential rivals for Republican nomination next time round making hay with this issue? DeSantis, or am I thinking of someone else? I haven’t been paying a huge amount of attention to US politics but it seems like he’s been a bit slow to read the room here. He’d be daft not to exploit this issue, it’s an open goal.

AutumnCrow · 01/02/2023 15:26

Yeah, Ron de Santis is a Republican hot favourite. He will make much of this. He can also point out that Trump must have know in 2016-2020 that this shit was going down and did nothing.

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/02/2023 15:28

With these reasonable ideas we're a side order to the banquest of racism.

That's a great analogy.

And yes, one of the issues is the increasing polarisation of American politics. There's no room in the middle for common sense, inclusive politics. There are boring reasons for this which I won't go into. But the left increasingly defines itself as NOT RIGHT rather than being innovative and progressive.

Someone described it to me as a mountain rage. We are all together in the foothills, most of us not Trump, child safety, being prosperous, being free, being able to keep your family housed, safe and well etc. The politics are the tops of the mountains. Where people pretend that the only way to do the foothills stuff is by doing what they believe. GCFs and TRAs are both shouting about child safety and disagree about how to achieve it. We all need to bring it back to the foothills. Trump however, doesn't even care about the same foothills as all the sane people. He's living in a different place.

JoodyBlue · 01/02/2023 15:29

Pharmaceutical investigations and the right to sue doctors though. That will have an impact on the profiteering medics. It might mark the beginning of the end if insurance companies will no longer pay for procedures. The highlighting of it is good, as surely the conversation will start to happen now in the states.

oldwomanwhoruns · 01/02/2023 15:31

Indeed it is an open goal for anyone, as @DarkDayforMN says.
Any politician, on either side of the pond, who has failed to take the side of reality in this 'debate' needs their head examined. I can't see why any politician would take any other stance.

First line. Going against your gender ideology is not hateful. Way to make yourself look crazy.

Shelefttheweb · 01/02/2023 15:36

Trump still has a very loud voice and a lot of influence. But sadly it might further entrench the genderists because ‘if trumps says it it must be wrong’ even if he says the sky is blue.

littleburn · 01/02/2023 15:38

It's a bit like I'm also in agreement with a lot of truly appalling people that the earth is round and water is wet. These are evidence-based facts, not value judgements.

LeavesOnTrees · 01/02/2023 15:41

I can't stand Trump but he's right to be standing up against the mutilation of children.

He comes at this issue from the opposite end to GC feminists. He absolutely knows what a woman is and wouldn't accept TWAW, but from a male macho chauvinistic, women are there for my pleasure, perspective.

This is the part that stood out to me. There will be some fucking terrified people out there right now and I couldn't be happier.

ResisterRex · 01/02/2023 15:50

I'm sorry but the mutilation of children is an open goal. The left have only themselves to blame and should wake up and start fixing their mess in the States. And that includes men in women's prisons and all the rest of this dangerous ideology.

Trump is a politician. He sees de Santis stealing a march on him and the fact this will resonate with parents - as de Santis proves himself. Trump sees this as an opportunity for himself. Biden threw women under the bus on day one. I'm only surprised it's taken until now for a major, well-known public figure to use their platform on this issue.

What on earth are you on about? I'm a radical feminist.

We are told endlessly that we're 'transphobes' for not following TRA bollocks. Trump actually is one.

WarriorN · 01/02/2023 16:00

"Child sexual mutilation"

The phrases he uses need to be said more often in general media.

He's not the greatest spokesperson for feminists (at all) but the language needs to be used more frequently in these debates.

It's all so sanitised it's become celebrated.

WarriorN · 01/02/2023 16:00

I'd like to see a democrat defend the mutilation of children.

Backstreets · 01/02/2023 16:02

Can't believe the cowardly left has given this absolute christmas present to the right. Some of the worst people out there get to sound reasonable and sane compared to TWAW.

Appalonia · 01/02/2023 16:03

Wow, that was incredibly clear wasn't it? And almost everything we've been wanting, especially the ban on 'heathcare' and the indoctrination in schools. I'm really gobsmacked to see any politician say it as it as, and especially Trump, he's never been so articulate!

the fallout from this is gonna be huge...
