BT apparently misgendered Isla, and she went to the papers about it:

'She said: “I have been asking them to change my name for almost a year but I keep getting letters with my dead name on it.

“I sent proof of my gender identity but it hasn’t made a difference. I’m sick of being treated like a second class citizen.”

BT apologised for the mix-up and offered Bryson £140. But she said: “It’s had a seriously emotional effect on me. They’ve tried to buy me off but I said I wanted £5,000 in compensation.”'

Grifters gonna grift.

Rightsraptor · 31/01/2023 12:29

Isla Grifter then? Just change the 's' of Isla into an 'm' and there we have it.

Fenlandia · 31/01/2023 12:31

So jarring that an article that makes no bones about calling a double rapist a 'fiend' also politely uses she pronouns throughout.

ArabellaScott · 31/01/2023 12:41

You're right, Fenlandia - I even called him 'she' without noticing!

For the avoidance of doubt: there's nothing female about this rapist.

He can have 5000 fuck offs instead.

Then I really am out of fucks to give about the gender ideology bullshit.

OnlyTheWeedsGrow · 31/01/2023 12:45

How long was it between the arrest and the court case? He didn’t see the gender fairy lights until after arrest…

IcakethereforeIam · 31/01/2023 12:54

So, while he was awaiting trial for rape, he went to the newspaper about being 'dead named' on a 'phone bill? The brass neck of this guy!

Of course the newspaper may not have made the connection because he would have been charged in his male name.

BoredOfThisMansWorld · 31/01/2023 12:55

Oh fantastic!

Anyone else here have their foreign name misspelled constantly?

Or have it assumed that they took their partner's surname or wish to disclose their marital status?

I'd be happy with £140 for every time that happened, tbh. I'd be quids in

TitsInAbsentia · 31/01/2023 13:17

Oooooh I like this, Sky have been sending letters to MR TitsInAbsentia for about 12 years, I never have been, never wanted to be and never will be a MR so I must take offence at this mis labelling and being action immediately!

IcakethereforeIam · 31/01/2023 13:18

@TitsInAbsentia Flowers thoughts and prayers

ResisterRex · 31/01/2023 13:23

🤔

www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2023/01/29/un-nicola-sturgeon-common-sense-violent-sex-offenders-jail/

"Court chiefs had wanted to send Bryson to Glasgow's men-only Barlinnie prison. Bryson was was named Adam Graham when committing the rapes and has not legally changed gender.

But the SPS guidance allowing criminals to self-identify their gender meant the rapist was initially sent to Cornton Vale. Following a huge public outcry, Bryson was moved to a men's cell in Edinburgh's Saughton jail."

I've had my (very British) surname misspelled
I've been addressed in work documents as 'Dear Sir' - hell, I've been called 'Sir' F2F (I have short hair) when I was buying the Times because 'it's usually men who buy the Times.' 🤔
I've been called Mrs when I'm not.
I've talked to overseas colleages who called me by my surname because the convention in their country is surname then first name so they assumed my surname was my first name

Can I have my thousands for hurtyfeelz plz?

TitsInAbsentia · 31/01/2023 13:39

'it's usually men who buy the Times.'😂 Wait, did someone actually say that to your face?!

If a man now goes in to a store to buy tampons should the shop assistant be super careful with the pronouns?

puffyisgood · 31/01/2023 13:44

I sympathise to a degree, it's bog standard for utility companies to be sending out letters to deceased heads of household for many years after a tearful widow first asked them to change the billing details. But £5k, seriously.

Early 80s, but yes, she did. I paid, she said thank you sir, and I mentioned I didn't think the haircut was that short - hence the comment about the men buying the Times. I said it's OK, OH is outside and he'll explain the long words to me.

ArabellaScott · 31/01/2023 13:51

It seems to be a good example of how criminals are likely to try and abuse gender ideology as a way to gain. Whether financially or as a form of power play, it's clearly a system Isla Bryson has seen as an opportunity.

Just further demonstrating that 'abusive men have never needed to claim to be anything other than they are' is the horseshit it always has been.

The brass balls on him more like.

334bu · 31/01/2023 13:53

How many of these types of incident are also reported as so called hate crimes? How strange that there has seemingly been an increase I such incidents.

ArcaneWireless · 31/01/2023 13:56

Alas, I am not in the humour for tidying my given fucks nicely away.

Therefore my fucks will be expressed through mobile eyebrows and sneery lip. On show for everyone to see.

A bit like ‘little Isla’ was in that pink lycra.

£5k by Christ for hurty feelies.

Nope. You can fuck that sky high.

More details emerge. Bryson has fathered three children. I feel for all the women he has harmed and the children he's left without support.

This also illustrates the problem with 'the tiny number of people' argument. One man - how many women's lives has he damaged?

Way too bloody long!

Second rape was 2019. Victim reported straight away. Not sure how long it took for the charge to be brought but as there was a witness (victim’s mum heard it) and forensics it must’ve been much easier to get to the charging stage than is typical for rape, (and the earlier rape became the second charge).

Presumably it’s taken at least two years to reach the top of the courts list, and then it was temporarily delayed at the end of last year (iirc?)

Court delays are a fucking nightmare and it’s not just letting grifters grift, but also giving men charged with rape enough time to sign up for sodding beauty courses.

We do alllllll the time. Think, our family name is Hasegawa and we get Hansegunta, Jasewawa, Hasegumwa etc. We just eye roll....maybe I should sue for hurty feelz too though....

Starlitexpress · 31/01/2023 14:14

It's not a "dead name", it's a previous name, the use of this ridiculous emotive language is not doing anyone any favours.

Have a friend who's surname was changed by deed poll (I assume that is what this person did or did they just do it unofficially? ), any forms that ask for previous names she just puts it down and sends off a photocopy if they need for their records.......actually maybe she should start claiming offence and demanding money!

What fucking "proof" of his gender identity could be possibly have??
