After so many years seemingly howling in the wind, FINALLY the MSM are taking the issues , seriously, it's on front page news, discussed in Westminster, BBC, ITV, C4,it's all over Twitter, even the bloody GUARDIAN is reporting on it, and, by the outrage over Adam Graham, the convicted rapist being put in a women's jail, it looks like we are on the right side of history after all...

A timely reminder for some gardening. Link in tweet.

It's crap to have to ask, but ask we must.
If we don't get a serious injection of cash, it is very likely that KPSS will have to cease operating this year.
No one else does what we do. The prison reform groups have abandoned women. What we do works.

Still not seeing what there is to be "gleeful" about IMO?

Let me explain Marge, it's one part 'we told you so', one part pure relief that we can finally speak freely after years of 'shut up bigot, no debate' and two parts renewed hope that women might one day be protected from predatory men. Our glee is tempered by the knowledge that we're still nowhere near where we need to be and still more women will be harmed before we're done but the recent breakthrough in public consciousness is a big step forward so I think we've earned a little glee. It speaks volumes about you that you don't understand that, what kind of person would not be pleased that vulnerable female prisoners will be spared having a rapist as a cell mate?

Guiltycat · 31/01/2023 13:48

TRA's often seem to delight in twisting language. So, for thsi post, lets assume:

Word 'man' = Biological male

Word 'woman' = Biological female.

Word 'transwoman'=Biological male who wants to pretend he the same as a biological female, for whatever reason. Often by performing offensive stereotypes or because of a magical 'innate essence', that alos seems to boil down to performing offensive gender sterotypes funnily enough.

So...

Transwomen are men. Because gender is not sex.

Men don't belong in women's single sex spaces. Not a one of them. Even if they are lovely.

This is not because ALL men/transwomen are rapists. It is because enough of them are that they pose a large risk to women/children as a group.

As soon as you make the wording clear, and waft away the gender woowoo fog, the logic is unescapable.

As some politicians are beginning to find out.

Oh, the irony of Margarita posting outdated statistics, which are now completely the other way round and calling people liars. As well as pretending that nobody with a sex offence, or violence against women is in a womens' prison, despite me posting two examples.

  • @MargaritaPie yes or no question for you (which no doubt you won't answer).

Do you genuinely believe Isla Bryson is a woman? Yes or no*

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 31/01/2023 15:53

NowDoYouBelieveMe · 31/01/2023 03:10

Trans women are women.

Same question for you. Yes or no question.

Do you genuinely believe Isla Bryson is a woman?

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 31/01/2023 15:56

I very much doubt I'll get a reply to that simple yes or no question from @MargaritaPie or @NowDoYouBelieveMe.

Funnily enough I never ever a get a reply to my one sentence question of "how exactly does one live as a woman?"

Am really genuinely interested to hear those answers.

Madamedefargelikescrows · 31/01/2023 16:55

I think we were incredibly lucky that this was such a high-profile trial because we know that Adam Graham was not the first man in a woman's prison or in his case being kept in one awaiting sentencing and then he would have stayed in one because other men are already in women's prisons.

The gaslighting all along was that this couldn't happen when it already had and when we said it already had, it was a tiny amount, and when we said "dangerous men", it was TWAW and you're a bigot for trying to say that all transwomen are violent abusers and rapists - despite of course not saying that at all.

I'm not sure how this case came to be so high profile but I'm bloody glad that it did.

You'll get a reply but it'll ignore your question and will either be a debunked infographic, an unsubstantiated comment against a public figure (toss up between JRK, Marion Miller or Joanna Cherry) or possibly (as Scotland is currently in the news) a 'joke' about the Scots language/culture.

This is why it's became high profile

Without the woman face

Is any one just a little bit gleeful right now?
Boiledbeetle · 31/01/2023 17:18

And of course what he put teenage girls through

Is any one just a little bit gleeful right now?
hamstersarse · 31/01/2023 17:42

I am feeling a little gleeful, but I also have very quickly reverted to sorrow for all the young trans people who have been hoodwinked into making permanent changes

Imagine seeing the shift in narrative so quickly and vocally...and I guess, seeing it for what it is and probably experiencing some WTF have I done. I feel really sad for these young people.

Whatthechicken · 31/01/2023 18:20

Not read the whole thread, so apologies. Not gleeful, we still have a lot of work to do …it’s so ingrained and people are still determined to ‘be kind’ even to the detriment of themselves. I’m so pleased it’s all over the media though.

I had a conversation today with some people who know my position and have agreed with it in the past…but today they spoke about maybe segregating prisons on the basis of the type of crime committed- so forgetting all about sex segregation. People are thinking about it more, but not thinking it all the way through, not considering the difference between the sexes and the threat that men pose to women. We still have work to do.

Women Puuuulllll!

turbonerd · 31/01/2023 19:07

Not gleeful, but I suppose some respite in a still slightly uphill Battle.

Pie is really outdoing Pieself today! I am awestruck at the TOTAL lack of (waves hands about) EVERYTHING 😂

Perhaps Pie is Emma Watson? Or Nic Sturgeon?
wouldn’t that make sense?

I hope the thread where people were still afraid to «out» themselves as GC will fill up with people deciding they will speak up in their workplaces from now on.

I kicked in an Open door in my workplace last year. It was very Nice to discuss it openly with people who care.
Have tried to talk to DH, but apparently it is not interesting 🤷🏽‍♀️ Despite the fact he has two daughters. His stance, in his defense, is that the trans lobby are so bonkers that he cannot take them seriously. But perhaps he will have to, soonish.

Bouledeneige · 31/01/2023 23:22

Im pleased about it but we still have a long way to go to return all single sex spaces to women. Maybe refuges will be next as the logical next step but we still need to get changing rooms, toilets, hospital wards and lots of health and care services back. And we will get NATALT - and be told not all trans are rapists.

Surprised your OH is so unconcerned with two daughters. Friends and family with daughters are very protective in my experience.

I remember my father who dabbled in politics raging about this group. I wonder if any of them have been involved in recent years?

miri1985 · 01/02/2023 00:17

Anyone care to speculate on what the next volte face will be?

We've already had "no we never meant people were born in the wrong body" and now were having "of course trans women who are rapists shouldn't be housed with women".

Could it be "of course no one under 18 should have puberty blockers" or will it be "no we never wanted trans women to play sports against women"? Or something else?

OnlyTheWeedsGrow · 01/02/2023 01:05

BloodAndFire · 31/01/2023 13:32

What is there to be "gleeful" about? Wouldn't you rather the double rape didn't happen at all to begin with?

Possibly the most slimy, dishonest, disgusting, immoral, foul, slanderous thing I've ever seen posted here.

You should be so thoroughly ashamed of posting this. Not even you could possibly believe for one single moment that that is what the poster meant. Not even you.

🔺🔺 ⬆️Agree with every single word of this ⬆️🔺🔺

FrancescaContini · 01/02/2023 02:30

Gleeful here. Very much so.

But totally agree with a PP: what about the teenagers brainwashed into thinking that they could change sex? What about the ones who have embarked on their “transition journey” 🤮?

I'm guessing it will start small but there will be a self righteous push for third categories in sport 'to suit the needs of everyone' because the whole ridiculous gaslighting push to force people to believe that there is literally no difference between male and female bodies was just unsustainable. The volte face will be 'of course there's a difference - we didn't mean literally! Why are you not focusing on safety for everyone, bigot?'

The embarrassing climb down by awards ceremonies has already begun (courtesy of Sam Smith).

hryllilegur · 01/02/2023 09:36

Third categories is fine. TRAs can campaign to try to get additional, separate provision for trans people.

And they can leave disability provision alone, while doing so. It’s hard won and very vulnerable to being repurposed. In fact, sharing it in any way often creates a sense of entitlement in those using it and arguments that their needs are equal to disabled people. See, for example, every thread about buggies having to move for wheelchairs on buses or threads about disabled toilets.

TRAs can campaign to try to have limited resources allocated to special provision for them. I’m totally for that. But only if we stop the ‘most vulnerable and excluded’ rubbish and the suicide threats narrative as justification for prioritising TRA demands over everything else.

They can campaign but decision makers need to exercise a sense of perspective and not just parrot myths.

pattihews · 01/02/2023 09:43

I think it'll be very interesting to see whether there is a push for separate third categories for everyone who falls under the trans umbrella or not.

We now understand that getting into women's space for validation purposes was the aim for the majority of TWs. It may be that there is no demand for third spaces because third spaces won't satisfy that desire.

FrancescaContini · 01/02/2023 09:53

With the NHS on its knees and the country in disarray/discontent generally with strikes and the COL crisis, I don’t think anybody would have the patience or money to tolerate the idea of even DISCUSSING creating “third spaces” for people who consider themselves too special to use the facilities/areas they’ve always used until they realised how special they are, let alone go ahead and build these “spaces”.

People need to get a grip and use one of the two spaces is designed for their sex. Everyone knows what sex they are.
