It sounds very much like there is now a double rapist in the women's wing of Soughton (HMP Edinburgh - never seen it called that before).

I also want to see an article about which sex prison guard is doing the body searches on trans prisoners. As I understand there's a strip search evetytume prisoners (re-)enter prison and that it should be done by the same sec guard(s). Personally I have major issues with any strip searches and would prefer they were done with scanners like at the airport, but obviously there's no chance of that investment being made. Given that they are a routine part of prison life, who is this falling to?

well, I suppose it does follow SPS’s previous logic… if a man who says he’s a woman can transferred to a female prison… then why can’t a man* who says he’s a minor can be transferred to a young offenders facility?

Both are making a claim that defies material reality… humans cannot get younger and humans cannot change sex.

But if you can change one box on a birth certificate, why not two boxes? Why not all the boxes?

Am fully aware that TRAs will weaponise the far right narrative - because they are so predictable in doing so.

It is so frustrating. The No debate narrative did so much damage. Why have communities not engaged proper,y? Everyone should have their safe space, just don’t try to erase one set. Don’t ask/demand that people budge up. Engage properly and you’ll find that you may have an huge well of support to navigate a way forward.

Until that happens, I will happily read and embrace any article that covers the situations that should have been filed under “will never happen”. I do t care what online paper it’s in.

Glad to see the coverage but those IPSO guidelines need to be the next thing to be highlighted.

I can imagine a very meta Daily Mail article, with a Daily Mail journalist and their editor doing a DM sad face under the headline "We were forced to describe a double rapist as "she" or face a £1m fine". Subhead - "The shocking situation as journalists are banned from reporting on reality to our readers by the same pressure groups who got double rapist transferred to women's jail"

Just read the article from Janice Turner who mentions Maria Millar as the head of the committee who ignored all the evidence to women’s safety.

Good job I already loathe the women for the damage she did to disabled people a few years back talking about ‘free cars’ and implying they are all lazy when she was in that role. Oh, and she fiddled her expenses. Is it any wonder we’re in this level of murky shit with people like her around…

I’m fascinated to know why so many countries just accepted this and swept legislation in. Our government is at least holding off. Almost a watch and wait approach (probably the only useful thing they’ve done in 12 years).

Re Daniel at Polmont, it looks like he was first jailed for life in 2004 when he would have been the appropriate age for the facility. Not sure why he has not been transferred out however.

Say what you like about the Mail but they have been the only national paper to have been consistent in their opposition to GRA
