India Whilloughby Made a tweet saying that they are more of a woman than JK Rowling.

JK said “Citation needed”

Mark Hamill liked the tweet. Fans thought it might be an accident. But to their dismay it was not as he liked other tweets in the passed. Not they are sad because they HAVE to cancel him.

It must be exhausting being a TRA. It’s nice to kick back and just enjoy life not worrying about trying to force everyone to think like me. It’s actually a huge relief.

Don't these people have jobs and lives? Do they spend all day and night trawling the net looking for reasons to be offended?

Oh, yes - "Katy" Montgomerie or whatever the name is. Literally every hour on twitter raging their misogyny and homophobia. Of course, THEY don't get cancelled for their various phobias because meh, no one cares about homophobia or hatred of women. Very sad, sad deluded people indeed.

bagelbagelbagel · 25/01/2023 19:04

With all these things, it comes down to not misidentifying the individual case as the rule. If a trans person murders someone, that’s on them, not the community. If the Brits nominate only people with penises, that’s on the Brits.

The whole area is way too nuanced to be 'trans women who still have their male genitalia are destroying the rights of women'. Vast swathes understand the concerns and want women to feel supported. The people that wave placards and send death threats are the individual cases, not the rule.

Statistically, you can stack your shit up on both sides. The individual cases are not the rule. They're sound bites.

YouJustDoYou · 25/01/2023 19:06

According to India and "her" ilk, a "woman" is feminine, pink-pastel-loving, skirt wearing etc etc low spoken deliberately demure gentle people? Waers lipstick? Has boobies they like to wearlow cut tops for? I mean....what. Is. A. Woman to them?...

bagelbagelbagel · 25/01/2023 19:08

There are gender disparities in crime. There are ethnic disparities in crime. There are socio economic disparities in crime. There are geographical disparities in crime.

Here trans women are guilty until proven innocent. Much more likely to be evil criminals so curb their rights asap before such horrors occur.

Wrong on so many levels. Mainly on just a basic human level.

ApocalipstickNow · 25/01/2023 19:14

Keep going Marg- bring ALL your examples of death threats and calls for violence.

The posters here will bring examples of threats by TRAs.

it’ll be a bit like the old Duracell Bunny battery advert.

bagelbagelbagel · 25/01/2023 19:14

What would it take for you to win?

A law preventing transwomen from entering female toilets? Full criminal record searches on all transwomen prior to joining female clubs or societies? Full ban on transwomen using female changing rooms?

What does winning look like?

It's water running down a plug hole, really. Transwomen aren't going anywhere.

It's not a game.

Rape and murder and domestic violence aren't funny.

And males should not be in any single sex female spaces.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 25/01/2023 19:20

Oh @MargaritaPie I'm never going to tire of asking you to answer this question (as I'm genuinely interested to hear your answer). I know you always ignore this every time I ask but I'll try again...One sentence reply is fine, try to avoid the use of stereotypes...

Please how you define "living as a woman"? How does one live as a woman and prove this to others?

Transwomen don’t have to go away, Bagel, I’d just like TRAs to stop threatening to beat and murder women.

doesn’t seem a big ask.

What does winning look like?

Sticking to spaces that matches their biological sex.

If transwomen don't feel safe in those spaces i.e that men will attack them for not confirming to gender stereotypes (wearing dresses maybe?) then -

Set up a third space
Campaign for males to be more understanding and tolerant.

This is not a problem for women to solve for them.

It's water running down a plug hole, really. Transwomen aren't going anywhere.

Women aren’t going anywhere, either.

Women wanting single-sex spaces definitely aren’t going anywhere. And there are a lot of us. A lot. And we’re ever-increasing in numbers.

What does winning look like?

Single sex spaces, as women fought for.

1 space for women/vaginas.

A separate space for men/penises.

A third space for those who choose to mix or are not bothered.

But obviously the majority of women want single sex spaces.

PSNonsense · 25/01/2023 19:29

Males commit 98% of sexual and violent crime.

Women can't tell which ones are 'genuine' trans, and which are just men out to harm women.

Hence why sex based spaces exist.

It's not a difficult concept to understand.

What does "living as a woman" look like? Genuine question. Try and avoid the use of stereotypes or "changing your name on your electricity bill".

Define how one lives as a woman? I'll wait.

BloodAndFire · 25/01/2023 19:32

@HedgeWench that's brilliant

MiladeeBeserko · 25/01/2023 19:35

Not RTFT, but to be fair, JK herself had a few wobbles before jumping in full force. It's scary. He seems like a nice bloke. Give him time

Ahhh. The old ‘you may as well let males have what they want, they will just out wait you’ defense.

Hilarious really.

A). History has never shown these males to not have male crime patterns.

B). The longer this plays out, it shows the motivation clearly that these males have.

I do not think you have thought about this…

For me personally: a recognition that gender does not always supersede sex, and a mutually respectful discussion of how to balance the conflict of rights which sometimes arises between natal women and trans women, without the fear of being labelled a bigot or being accused of denying someone’s right to exist etc

Reading this report now. Some comments, not necessarily narrowly focused on the topics of this thread:

-As misogyny is not even listed among possible types of hate which would be recorded, we have no idea what might have happened to hate crimes against female people over time. No idea at all.

-Most perpetrators (or alleged perpetrators) of hate crime (all of it, not just trans hate crime) in the report (when identifiable) are said to be male, however, so probably not feminists.

-Most victims (or alleged victims) are also said to be male with the exception of the transgender group where more than half of the victims are said to be female.

This is a clear example of the definitions of 'female' and 'male' probably having become mere abstract inner feelings as the odds are pretty good that the female group of victims in the trans hate category consists of trans women. When misogyny data is not collected or recorded at all, it's not surprising that the victims of hate crime tilt towards the male sex.

-The proportion of reported hate crime incidents which happened in the cyberspace varies by type of hate category:
It is 18% for disability, 7% for race, 10% for religion, 13% for sexual orientation, and 27% for transgender identity. So much larger for the last group.

-The total number of recorded hate crime incidents (alleged ones, I think) in the transgender category is 113 in 2020-21. The total number of sexual orientation hate crimes (alleged ones, I think) in 2020-21 is 1675, the total number of race hate crimes is 4303 and so on. It would be interesting to relate these to the sizes of the relevant populations.

I mentioned trying to relate the incidence of hate crimes (or alleged hate crimes) to the sizes of the relevant populations, and I have tried to do that with the sexual orientation and trans crime numbers which are, respectively, 1675 and 113.

The LGB population in Scotland is estimated to be about 2%. The data from the census on trans population doesn't seem to be out yet, but it might be close to the 0.5% census figure from England and Wales.

If people were experiencing hate crime events on the basis of sexual orientation at the same rate as on the basis of transgender status, then we would expect the number of events reported to be roughly in the same four-to-one ratio. This is not the case. The sexual orientation crime rate is roughly fifteen times the transgender hate crime rate.

I hate the rhetoric of winning and losing.

What I would like to see, however:

  • a robust legal definition of transgender
  • adequate facilities and services for women that can be trans exclusive, adequate facilities and services for trans women and adequate facilities and services for women that can be trans inclusive
  • no trans women in women's sports. That's non negotiable, I am afraid. But trans women are welcome in men's sports or to set up leagues and clubs of their own
  • a process by which women and trans women can challenge men who are claiming to be transgender for nefarious reasons in any of the above scenarios without suffering detriment themselves
  • no medical intervention below the age of 22

To start with......

Blister · 25/01/2023 21:06

Quick quick we need to talk about anyone and anything which can distract us from the rapist penis sharing the same space exclusively reserved for women which we just voted as having no evidence of happening!

Blister · 25/01/2023 21:08

Wait what? That thread wasn't meant for this thread... but I'll leave it here, it's kind of apt.and mn really needs to sort out the jumping paragraph thing.
