Question about trans women cycles

I have a genuine question

I have a new ish work colleague who I get on well with and enjoy her company. She's a lesbian. Except that her girlfriend is a trans women. That's fine. I'm happy to refer to her by her chosen name and pronouns.

But what confused me is my friend saying more than once that their cycles had synched up and so they had one week a month when they were both super emotional.

Can this be a thing? Do trans women take different hormones at different times of the month? Genuine question, not being goady

Obviously only asking out of sheer nosiness. The first time she mentioned their cycles I didn't know that the partner was a trans woman and so now feel it's too late to ask!

In reality I’d probably just grimace, change the subject and then give that individual a wide berth…. Not because I’m anti-trans, but because I can’t be doing with the oversharing fakery of it all.

I thought you were talking about bicycles Blush But no. Obviously they can't sync - there's no cycle to sync.

Ha! Me too. Was wondering if we might be straying into cross bar angles and saddle shape territory.

IcakedefargeIam · 23/01/2023 21:26

I thought the whole syncing up thing had been discredited anyway?

Baldieheid · 23/01/2023 21:33

Unless her partner has had a womb transplant (pretty much science fiction at this current moment) then no, that person does not have a menstrual cycle of any kind.

If her partner is actually female biologically, that's different. But if this person is a biological male? Nah, not happening. I could speculate on a number of possible reasons for the fabrication but honestly, it would be a waste of time.

Borris · 23/01/2023 21:36

I knew there couldn't be an actual period. I think the partners still has a penis as waiting for surgery so clearly no vagina or uterus. But I wondered if the hormones taken varied to make a fake cycle

Nope, it's fantasy and science fiction combined then.

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2023 21:41

So a woman and her boyfriend have synched their periods?

Blister · 23/01/2023 21:43

On what planet do colleagues clarify their partners genital status and periods? Truly being special is a key to an alternate universe.

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 23/01/2023 21:44

TBF to your colleague, my husband is well moody when I’ve got my own period and dd and I joke that he’s got his period too. Realistically I think it’s more bad temper because he knows he isn’t getting sex for a least another week. Maybe your colleague’s boyfriend is the same.

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2023 21:45

Men can't be women.

men don't have periods

Your colleague is deluded

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 23/01/2023 21:46

If you browse AIBU, you will find any number of threads of women saying that whenever they're ill their male partner is iller.

If she has a headache, he has a migrane; if she has a cold, he has flu; if she has a sprained ankle, he has a broken one; if she has period pains, ...

mumda · 23/01/2023 21:47

Borris · 23/01/2023 20:53

She does have terrible period pains, think heat pads up her jumper while at her desk. This is how the synching up comments started.

She should seek medical attention. Excessive pain should not be tolerated as a woman thing.

Cycles. Haha. Reactive to someone else's moods isn't good.

Oh I have classified the genital status of many of my work colleagues over the years.

They all had penises.

And a few of them have had reason to be concerned over the status of my periods and needed clarification from me that all is well!

😏

He’s pretending to have period symptoms while he role plays womanhood.

Exactly.
Makes me furious.

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2023 21:49

Clarified although I have classified them as well but that's a different story

CandlelightGlow · 23/01/2023 21:55

Is misgendering someone no longer against MN talk guidelines?

trucklebrunch · 23/01/2023 21:57

You colleague is bonkers

What - 'man with a penis' who's shagging a woman claims that he has a menstrual cycle? The only person doing any misgendering here is the man who's claiming to be a woman, based on some weird (male) notion of what a woman actually is.

Blister · 23/01/2023 22:00

I don't think you are allowed to misgender but you can correctly sex someone. The male individual of this story,if he actually exists, is male.

VerveClique · 23/01/2023 22:01

Can you really mis-gender the apparent partner of an apparent colleague of an anonymous poster on an internet forum?

I think at the point a sign saying decapitate Terfs was shown alongside members of parliament mumsnet realised all bets are off we are done with be hind. Men are not and never can be women. No debate.

Boiledbeetle · 23/01/2023 22:08

But you still can't misgender India W that thread is a mass of deletions!

Your lesbian colleague does realise her girlfriend could still get her pregnant. Doesn't she?
