I am willing to engage in a mutually respectful social contract with someone by avoiding using a pronoun they have told me they do not wish or agree with - which means making an effort for them and jumping my language through a lot of hoops. Already quite a rude demand, all in all. I will not however lie and use a word I do not believe or agree with for them. I will expect the reciprocal respect of accepting using their name instead.

If they wish to push me on this, they're going to find me driven to discourtesy and they may wish they hadn't, because I will not be enacting a belief I do not hold. Social contracts are two way and respect is a reciprocal thing.

Holy hell! Not been on social media for ages, but is this how far down the rabbit hole we've come with this now? These tw people are totally off the planet out of touch with real life, as in trees and water and oxygen and biology! In days gone by people talking like this would have been given a permanent vacation from public life, not given a twitter account and a tv show! I have a visual impairment and my eyes are tired from trying too hard today so I just listened to that and didn't watch it. I knew exactly what I heard, every bit of me knew exactly what that was. The back of my brain that tells me when to be scared/apprehesive/extra alert knows exactly what that was.

As a side note in nearly 40 years of being a (not very womanly) women I have never threatened to take someone outside. Clearly I am just womaning wrong

I am not really upset about it anymore but it has changed my perspective on humanity greatly. I grew up reading books with themes like “Good always conquered over evil” or “there true will always prevail” and I guess those things aren’t always necessarily wrong but… evil and lies will certainly do a great deal of destruction before they are defeated and it’s quite possible that “good and truth” could take an entire life time to get their shit together!
