I have no words really. She's a zealot.

I can't imagine why the green party (who want to decrease the world's human population) might support an ideology that evidence shows leads to adult sterility. Just doesn't make sense does it.

Is that called Deep Ecology? The theory that we must reduce the world's population by 90% or we are doomed. I suppose some self appointed elite group will take charge of the process.

A sort of crap Bene Gesserit for our sad old world.

Forgotthebins · 15/01/2023 09:17

I wonder what she actually thinks being trans at the age of six means. Children’s bodies haven’t even begun to develop their adult form at that age. How can you know you feel distress about your body shape when you don’t even know what it is yet?

BabyStopCryin · 15/01/2023 09:35

At that age you don’t really understand death and believe allsorts of weird and wonderful things.

she is not really thinking is she?

It would be useful if people like her could explain what they mean.

Just shouting 'bigot' at anyone who asks really isn't helpful.

BabyStopCryin · 15/01/2023 09:43

When did the greens stop trying to save the whales and protect Mother Earth?

Signalbox · 15/01/2023 09:55

I’m not sure Maggie’s status as a non-parent has much to do with this. You might equally argue that parents are leading the way on this because look at Susie Green &co. This whole ideology relies on parents uncritically offering up their children to the alter of gender ideology.

SiobhanSharpe · 15/01/2023 10:00

How very stupid. This is clearly not thought through at all, unless there is an underlying (and far more sinister) agenda at play. We can only guess at that.

I understand that the rate of deaths as a result of drug addiction in Scotland has increased since Nicola et al have been in power; isn’t this one of the more pressing domestic issues for its politicians to focus on?

Scotland has the worst rate of drug related deaths in Europe -

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/scotland-drug-deaths-record-glasgow-b1893623.html

A quote from the article -

'In April, Ms Sturgeon had admitted that the SNP government “took our eye off the ball” on drug deaths and pledged £250 million over the next five years for rehabilitation and community services.'

Concentrating on transgender people, and doing their best to increase the population of transgender people, might be a sort of displacement technique to cause distraction and throw a form of opium to the self-congratulatory feelings of the ‘right side of history’ people. No need to solve material problems of physical humans and the physical earth.

It is also proving a good way to build a dictatorship complete with compelled speech and non-speak in every public institution.

LoveCillian · 15/01/2023 10:35

This is just wrong

Sidaway · 15/01/2023 10:53

I've just realised this is why it's important for the trans lobby to deny that sex is real. Or conversely, it's the logical conclusion of denying that sex is real.

So if we say "It's wrong to encourage children to trans out of their birth sex, they don't know anything, let them grow up first", their thoughts are "But there's no such thing as birth sex! It's a construct! Whatever the child feels, IS what the are".

If we say "It's important to teach children to accept reality" there response is "But sex has no reality".

(Rubbish of course - if there's no such thing as birth sex, why the need for puberty blockers, hormones and surgery? But there you go...)

She’s a dangerous fool. She’s taken the word as truth of people who tell her children who say they’re trans will be trans adults. She needs to read the journal article in this thread that dismantles the entire house of cards of the so-called “evidence” of this:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4718090-the-myth-of-reliable-research-in-paediatric-gender-medicine

But what makes her a dangerous fool is that even if she was given it to read she wouldn’t. And even if it was read aloud to her she’d ignore it.

Except when you gently encourage sterility in a group where Autism, homosexuality (particularly in the female sexed members of the group) and mental health difficulties are heavily over represented statistically, the word 'eugenics' starts to also come to mind.

Did you see Maggie Chapman’s latest car crash interview on LBC? 😂keep on keeping on Maggie you really are peaking the nation!

Truly the gift that keeps on giving.

Abhannmor · 16/01/2023 23:25

She is genuinely scary. Because I don't think she is a grifter or just playing party politics over this.

She's a real true believer in something utterly insane.

Helleofabore · 16/01/2023 23:33

She seems to think that children under 16 should vote is what I also took from that interview .

In what world is that sensible at all?

toomanytrees · 17/01/2023 00:45

I googled the Scottish electoral system and couldn't figure out the list system. Scottish people must be geniuses to understand this!

Question for those in Scotland. When you write to your MSP, do you also write to a list MSP? Would Maggie Chapman get any letters or is she mostly unaccountable to the electorate?

So for my area, I have -
1 constituency MSP who is elected under the fptp system.
7 regional (list) MSP's who are elected through the proportional representation system.
1 MP for my region

I can write to any of these and have done for various issues, including the GRR.

Maggie Chapman is a list MSP for the North East Scotland Parliament region so anyone in that electoral region can write to her. You generally have to be a constituent of their area in order for MSP's to deal with your enquiry unless you are writing to an MSP who is a Minister of something (I think).

toomanytrees · 17/01/2023 02:03

Thanks for the explanation, Waitwhat23. Each system has its pros and cons. But I now understand how the tail can wag the dog.

BabyStopCryin · 14/01/2023 22:47

Does she have children?

I don't have children and find her suggestion abhorrent. She is zealot and plenty of parents also espouse these messed up beliefs, her childless status isn't the issue.

BabyStopCryin · 17/01/2023 06:27

I wonder is she’s ever met a six year old.

NotBadConsidering · 17/01/2023 06:45

You don’t have to have children. You don’t even have to have met any 6 year olds recently. Surely, surely she can remember her own growth and development and remember when she herself developed her own personal sense of identity and comprehension of adult ideas, even if she can’t even remember what she was like at 6.
