Genderfree? I'm not agender or non binary as that implies believing in gender.

In times of old I would have described myself as a Woman, but as non biological women/ transwomen are now women I no longer want to use that word

Trans have spoilt the sex based meaning ot once had.

I have always thought of gender as being distinct from sex. I realize there was a period of time when sex was a bad word so gender was used in its place but the words have been used both interchangeably and in different ways for many decades. To me, sex is biological and this is shared globally. Gender is a socio-cultural representation of the beavioural and psychological norms for each sex in distinct contexts. Women and men around the world have had very different traditional representations and expressions and roles of what it means to be a bio man or woman - how that gets represented is not the same in every society or culture. Gender was the word that to me explained those socio-cultural differences.

somuchtolearnabout · 31/12/2022 07:41

Why are you making it so complicated?

nancydroo · 31/12/2022 07:58

In times of old? Nonsense.

maslinpan · 31/12/2022 09:23

It's a bit on the pricey side, but a good way to clear up any confusion about whether you are a man or a woman or a x or q or a t would be to visit Afghanistan or Iran and see if you have access to an education/job/public spaces. The response should be fairly unambiguous.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/12/2022 09:27

Is every on-line forum board to be inclusive to that group you mention is marginalised, and not inclusive to those who wish to discuss the impacts on themselves ?

Because your answering post seems to show to me that you don’t have anything of value to contribute. Just an attempt to shame the OP for their discussion points. Otherwise you would engage with her and discuss it.

I think that's crystal clear. But no, of course no problems with this person's critical thinking.

Unless you enjoy killing the mood that is?

What the mood of utter tedium? I agree with PP it is SO tedious.

You are being totally disingenuous.

Just call yourself a female if you can't deal with anything else.

And then get on with your own business and stop overthinking something which really doesn't require you to.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/12/2022 09:29

Luckily most of us on FWR just ignore these people, despite their manipulative rhetoric and melodramatic appeals to female socialisation.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/12/2022 09:32

And then get on with your own business

Not sure how the OP's personal identity isn't her own business?

As an aside eresh the projection alone from that post I referred to was so clear, that I felt I was in upside down land!!!

Hence the very long post to sort out through it all. With great effort to keep it in the guidelines.

Chersfrozenface · 31/12/2022 09:46

I have a biological sex and an individual personality. I do not have a gender, that"s a linguistic term and I'm not a noun

So what do I tick when asked "What is your gender?", when the choices don't include "none", as they do for religion?

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 31/12/2022 09:47

god bless

oohhh burn! hope you're Ok @Helleofabore

interesting to see people on this thread confusing sex and gender

I think that's why genderism took off so well. There are plenty of people who genuinely believe in gender. They just think only women can / should have stereotypically feminine characteristics and only men stereotypically masculine ones

and if you're a man with stereotypically feminine characteristics (it often seems to boil down to enjoying being sexually submissive for the chaps on twitter), rather than embracing them and still being a man, you should pretend to be a woman

that way no-one's gender based prejudices are challenged and that makes some people feel much more comfortable

Boiledbeetle · 31/12/2022 09:48

I asked the EDI manager at work if I'd have to put pronouns in emails as I'm genderfree.

She replied thanking me for disclosing my identity and of course not if it made me uncomfortable.

@Metabigot god that person must be... insufferable.

I suppose if someone starts getting in your face though about not using pronoun for yourself you can just look upset, run off to a toilet then come back five minutes later and fire off a quick email to hr/edi about how you are being victimised and bullied by the resident TRA.

Zerogravity · 31/12/2022 09:50

OP I think you will find that we are "boring women". That is, the old-fashioned female type of woman, non- stereotypical and unique. Just that nobody wants to hear about us. Good news: the whole gender bollocks rests on our shoulders. Without us, there is no point in identifying as us. But for good or bad, most of us are too busy to get involved with all this introspection. I like your approach though. If we're going to be forced into giving everyone a label, may as well play along.

Boiledbeetle · 31/12/2022 09:52

Make mischief 2023

Could be our plan for the year. All those that can't be too vocal due to jobs etc. Play them at their own game.

Clog everything up and do what @Metabigothas done.
Then complain complain complain. Best pained face. Best tears. Best "it's just so genderfree phobic, I feel their questions literally really like a stab to my very personal non gendered flowing essence of me-ness". Big cries, full snot version.

The head office will soon get sick of no work getting done and knock it all on the head so we can get back to normality.

skippingthroughthedaisies · 31/12/2022 09:52

Gender is a nonsense. There is only sex. You are XX chromasomes therefore a woman. Be proud to own it.

I was very hurt bernard.

By the fact that someone seems to actually believe they can write “I don't see how anything in my post is dishonest” while using “God Bless” in that way….

The dissonance was like whiplash.

A fine live demonstration! I think I remember the poster on a thread where we discussed the crinkling of period products. Were they the ones who told women that as a woman they had never heard a crinkle of period packaging in all their years????

Boiledbeetle · 31/12/2022 10:09

God bless, when used like that makes my head go to a wired angle and my eyebrow involuntarily starts to rise.

Then my brain has the brief thought tit

MuffytheWooWooSlayer · 31/12/2022 10:23

I don't know what you're all talking about! Gender is amazing and totally emancipating. I was once a lowly "tomboy" receiving side glances from the aunties at Christenings and weddings because I had my hair cut into a bob.

Since I've started identifying as a my true manly manself, courtesy of a lifetime of snake oil testosterone, I've got myself a wife (who conveniently doubles up as my maid and PA) whilst I cruise on my fake-dick having privilege to the top of my career ladder. My favourite hobbies now include walking around at night carefree, ignoring all my relatives birthdays, and leering at women in the gym.

Magic! Y'all are missing out. 😂

Wonnle · 31/12/2022 10:25

Attention seeking ?

nilsmousehammer · 31/12/2022 10:30

I am reminded, for some reason, of my mother mentioning "If all your friends jumped off a cliff would you jump too?"

Boiledbeetle · 31/12/2022 10:47

Not much to add, apart some of my amazing?!? Artwork. Hopefully this whole thing will come falliing down in 2023.

I don't have a gender because I refuse to believe in gender woo. But I'm not gender non conforming. What am I?
Truthlikeness · 31/12/2022 11:02

Well, I believe gender exists - as a set of norms and behaviours we're all subjected to about how the sexes should act/dress/think etc. I just happen to think it's BS and have rejected it my whole life.

What I don't believe in is a mystical gendered soul that tells you, you should be something other than the sex you were born. 'Gender atheist' can be a helpful term for that.

Gatehouse77 · 31/12/2022 11:10

I understand and, if asked, I say I identify by my biological sex which is female.

Like you, I don’t have a gender because I don’t subscribe to the stereotypes. It doesn’t make me agender or non-binary (which describes everybody I know in terms of stereotypes) or anything else from that tick box drop down.

Where possible, and it’s getting harder, I tick other and write a statement. How that gets translated into quantifiable data I don’t know. Being cynical, I suspect not as I would hope!

C1N1C · 31/12/2022 11:14

Create your own term. People can't argue with you these days; you can be whatever you decide you are on a whim without rebuttal.
