Continuation of Thread 1

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions, grr"- that sort of thing).

I watched him with all the nonsense coming out of his mouth and in the end, I became so fixated on his teeth that everything else faded into the background, which wasn't hard because those teeth are probably brighter than the actual sun.

He is very creepy and tampon companies need to understand that women really don't want creepy men telling them about their periods. If I was still menstruating I would boycott any brand that used men in their advertising. Enough of this utter bloody nonsense. Thinking about it, it won't be too long before they have men telling us how to do menopause properly and to stop hating ourselves for getting a bit dry down there. Or something.

duc748 · 12/01/2023 01:40

I just don't understand what the tampon companies are thinking, Crows. Surely it doesn't make any business sense to piss off your market? Trying to be 'edgy'? But surely that's the last thing the product needs? Or taking the piss, thinking they have a captive market? I'm at a loss.

Britinme · 12/01/2023 01:41

Agreed @duc748 . I wonder how good their market research is.

Britinme · 12/01/2023 03:08

I tweeted this as part of a reply today to someone who said he had no evidence of men in women's prisons. https://prisonwriters.com/trans-females-in-womens-prisons/?gclid=CjwKCAiA2fmdBhBpEiwA4CcHzeyxNgg5KMTj9-r6PXUCZoQBCaCtQTqZRknAa0iT1erEbqch8ta3BoCQ2EQAvDD_BwE

Women don't hate themselves but the existence of scented pads proves companies that make SanPro hate women.

I use the mini pill at the moment so no periods for me but If I did, I would now use period pants. I think they are great and would have loved them when I was a teen in a low income single father household. I have spent so much money on SanPro over the years. 😣

TRSOH being unintentionally funny.

If you have an hour to spare, this philosophical dissection of gender ideology (linked on another thread) by Rebecca Reilly-Cooper is absolutely riveting.

Here's something else for people to avoid knowing about. Why do tampon companies think this is a good idea?

twitter.com/ripx4nutmeg/status/1612717064023588864?

Oh good, another tampon fetishist mansplaining periods and feminism. We are blessed.

SinnerBoy · 12/01/2023 10:33

What on Earth do the company and the weird bloke think that they will achieve with it? It's bonkers.

As for the mad bookbinder, it's utterly pathetic attention seeking.

SinnerBoy · 12/01/2023 10:34

McGill university attack. OK, it's the Mail, but at least it's in the mainstream news now:

Kucinghitam · 12/01/2023 10:50

The tampon thing is just bizarre - I can only conclude that P&G (the parent company) must have done market research showing that Righteous female humans who love servicing male desires will flock to their product in sufficient numbers to offset the Wrongeous female humans who abandon it. Would love to see the data on that...

IcakethereforeIam · 12/01/2023 11:04

This is a take on the 2 spirit thing I hadn't considered (although tbf 2s isn't mentioned), it may have legitimate route but often it seems to give men another layer of armour.

The rates of imprisonment of indigenous people is something else that shocked me. I knew it was bad but...!

"A particle of Hitler is lodged in every exasperated petty-bourgeois" (catchy slogan on McGill protest placard).

Its like Kevin The Teenager, isn't it? You're all fascists! 😀

ScrollingLeaves · 12/01/2023 11:59

This petition has gone past the 10,000 required to get a response from the Government, and has been gathering signatures very fast indeed recently but was slow in being discovered by people. It closes on the 18th so needs help to reach 100,000 signatures so that Parliament will consider a debate.

Please would you consider signing and sharing it if you have not done so already. And if anyone would put it on a good Twitter thread like that head teacher chat one, that would be good. ( I am not on Twitter.)

To sign and share the petition to stop teaching ‘gender identity’ ideology to children in RSE lessons in schools.

Signed and shared.

Do they check anything? I'm a UK citizen (dual nationality as I'm also American) but I've been out of the country too long to have a vote.

I think as long as you are either a UK citizen or resident, you can sign.

duc748 · 12/01/2023 14:31

Signed. Although I'm not a fan of petitions at all, and don't usually.

Britinme · 12/01/2023 14:32

Signed.

Jeffrey on a particularly feminine Enby day, I think this was one of the first times I had the pleasure of encountering him.

I've just seen a little clip of Kathleen Stock on the Tweeters, about the meaning of words. There was some chat on here recently about not splitting trans and women (as TRAs insist we should) but rather keeping them together as transwomen. She goes a large step further, saying:

"Men who think they're women should be allowed into women's sports" is nothing like as convincing as "transwomen belong in women's sports." So we need to get the language back. I think that's non-negotiable.

What say you all? It's been noted before that the overreach of the TRAs may lead to them losing ground rather than gaining it. Accurate language would be a start.

Tricyrtis2022 · 12/01/2023 16:34

That makes sense to me, bignose. All this playing about with obfuscating language doesn't help women and girls one bit. I'm a big fan of Plain English.

bignosebignose · 12/01/2023 16:38

Heh, I didn't actually mean to type "large" before "step" but my subconscious must have decided that it is.

duc748 · 12/01/2023 16:45

Language matters, as per the continuing muddying of 'sex' and 'gender'. The terms (certainly in current usage) are not interchangeable. DVLA wanted to know my gender today. OK, they 'meant' sex, but this sort of thing is not helpful.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 12/01/2023 16:53

To go a step further, I think a lot of them are men who claim to think that they are women.
