I think the potential scandal of the Mermaids debacle will make Kids Company pall into insignificance. Kids kCompany was basically ‘just’ a scam, with the curtain wearer skimming off millions , but the children and adults who were beneficiaries were not basically harmed, except possibly by fostering unrealistic expectations of the eternal handout.
Mermaids and its allies have caused psychological and physical harm to hundreds of children, and terrible distress to most of their friends and relatives. I’m afraid, though, that when you look at how deeply this ghastly ideology has embedded itself into all the institutions of power, that the Hydra has not yet met its Hercules.

As I've said previously on here I believe Trans is huge cash-cow to some people.

I'm delighted that the CC is doing this. I do wish, though, that the Cass Report recommendations had been implemented so that there was decent holistic support in the NHS for gender dysphoric children. The Tavistock's closed and AFAIK no new services have emerged to take up the slack.

The newspapers who had already seen which way this was heading will hopefully have many interesting articles coming out in the following days and weeks. Mermaids have done so much bad stuff and completely forgotten they were dealing with CHILDREN that the articles will practically write themselves.

This also gives the other papers who are too scared to rock the boat permission to dive a little deeper than the very shallow waters they've been in for the last few years.

Sorry haven't had time to read this thread, so this point may already have been made.

This inquiry was launched sometime okay and referenced governance.

This doesn't mean it will be about the purpose of the organisation.

It could be as much to do with goverance conflict of interest that one individual has had control of finances, direction etc.. She may have left just so that the Trustees can now say she isn't part of the management.

Just saying that we might all see that the actual purpose of Mermaids is a problem but a lot of other people dont, sadly.

So I am not getting my hopes up.

All that might happen is they get told off for not have a neutral Board over seeing how the organisation is run.

@IwaIwantToRetire the issue with safeguarding will cover a multitude of sins. Most of which have been very clearly set out by a poster whose child was 'assisted' by MMs.

If the investigation asks even the most basic of questions there will be some particularly unpleasant realities revealed. Even if all that has been revealed by parents, newspapers etc is pure hokum, the reality of sending binders out to young teens, advocating secrecy, will be enough to sink them on that score.

Not to mention the GDPR fail that never really did come back to bite them as hard as it might have!
