They are completely tone deaf, aren't they?

Well i hope she's in the midst of sudden bout of severe insomnia

If I was her I'd be booking most of next week out in consultation with my solicitor.

VaddaABeetch · 02/12/2022 18:12

I think she’ll suffer from amnesia nor insomnia

Doubtless Jolyon M and the GLW would be thrilled to oblige. Can they charge it to MM's reserves?

I hope this gives Bev and Kate from LGB Alliance a bloody good Christmas after what Mermaids put them through this year. Absolutely made my bloody day.

Apologies if this has already been covered but could the basis of the CCs Inquiry be EDI?

I know the initial complainants were about safeguarding but The Times article said something else came to light. Also the press release from Mermaids focuses on EDI and the work that needs to be done in that area.

The objects of Mermaids is to

relieve the mental and emotional stress of children and young people affected by gender identity issues and their families.

That means they should welcome all families and not discriminate against those with a protected characteristic. But don’t they currently discriminate against any parent who holds the protected belief that sex is immutable? Would they ever welcome or offer their service to such a parent?

I found this tweet in the Nurtural twitter account linked up thread, it's a bit of a tangent but I thought it deserved an audience

The replies are good too.

I am really enjoying reading this thread. So many apt, brilliant and funny posts!
I’m only on page 4.

bellinisurge · 02/12/2022 18:22

More than happy for law enforcement to investigate those who have "moved" sex offenders to different parishes etc. Because people who claim to be safe are not always safe and people who indulge them rather than focus on safeguarding are disgusting scumbags.
That's how it works, dickheads.

Birdsweepsin · 02/12/2022 18:27

News report on Radio 4 ends thus

"...and it's embroiled ina bitter courtroom battle with another charity which it accuses of being transphobic"

Oh my, BBC. I had no idea you could say that on the radio

littlbrowndog · 02/12/2022 18:27

And when you can change your name and gender to avoid safeguarding checks.

MsRosley · 02/12/2022 18:28

Hopefully this will be like a crucial brick being removed in a Jenga game and this whole teetering pile of gender shit will come crashing down.

ResisterRex · 02/12/2022 18:29

But no one would ever do that with bad things in mind...

SidewaysOtter · 02/12/2022 18:32

Under attack and fundraising to 'fight back'? I'm not going to click on the 'yes, I'll help' button but what are they going to do? Pay for legal advice?

Spend it on yoga instructors so they’re bendy enough to kiss their own arses goodbye.

I want to feel happy about the potential downfall of Mermaids but somehow I don’t. I feel sad for the parents who are going to realise that - out of blind faith or even against their better judgment - they have permitted harm to be done to their children. Sad for the children who are going to realise they’ve done irreparable harm to their bodies in actions that will have repercussions for the rest of their lives, be it physical changes, stunted sexual development, side effects from drugs or potential infertility, for which there will be no cure. Sad that they’re going to see the curtain pulled back from the glittery Emerald City Wizard to find they were sold a lie.

But mostly angry that it took so long to get here, and that so many people - mostly women - have been demonised, threatened, silenced and bullied along the way because of this pernicious ideology.
