I hope her kid's okay.

Me too. After being paraded all over the media a few years ago, Jackie went very quiet a couple of years ago. I wish Jackie all the best. It can’t have been easy having their private life discussed so publicly.

SapphosRock · 25/11/2022 21:31

Omg this is massive!

Just had a look at the trustees and they seem to be fairly new. Bobbi Pickard must have left.

I also hope her kid is okay.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 25/11/2022 21:32

I'm sure she'd be great - look at her credentials - taking a trans woman to court for transphobia (and losing spectacularly).

I may have mentioned that to Mimmymum on twitter once or twice 😂

Abhannmor · 25/11/2022 21:33

I wish there was some means of compensating Jackie - and the other victims.

Baaaaaa · 25/11/2022 21:34

ArabellaScott · 25/11/2022 21:05

Yes. Green has obviously been aided by various people with more nous and power than she has herself.

Agree entirely. Mimmymum is a foot soldier, not a general. It's still great news. The mermaid edifice is crumbling.

Happylittlechicken · 25/11/2022 21:35

Maybe Jackie Green is realising, like Jazz Jennings, just how much this has blighted his life. jazz is on record as admitting he’s never had an orgasm or even dated anyone seriously. He’s starting to realise he’ll never have a romantic life, the drugs he’s on have caused him to gain weight exponentially and as he ages, he looks more masculine. These poor poor kids.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 25/11/2022 21:36

Whatever my personal views on Susie Green and her behaviour - her child deserves privacy and dignity and I do hope that they are OK.

I wish there was some means of compensating Jackie - and the other victims.

Suing the mother for personal injury, procuring bodily harm through puberty blockers, followed by a coercive operation in a foreign country, where the child could not reasonably have been a consenting party.

Baaaaaa · 25/11/2022 21:38

Oh... mimmymum and suzie green are not the same person.

I'm getting my zealots confused.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 25/11/2022 21:43

I predict that Mermaids will fold within 12 months

Needmoresleep · 25/11/2022 21:44

I hope that Stonewall et Al have started to realise, post Cass, that interfering with children (and I recognise the nuance) is not a good look. Perhaps Mermaids have outlived their usefulness. It was alway mad that organisations such as the FCA picked Mermaids as a corporate charity. It started off, pre-Susie, as a parent support group for parents whose children had a relatively rare gender dysphoria, and where the approach was ‘watchful waiting’.

A steady hand is needed to steer the Good Ship Mermaids out of choppy waters before it completely founders.

Cometh the hour, cometh the woman

Step forward...

Mimmymum!!!!

I hope the child realises what has been done to him and gets whatever help he needs.

Her child is an adult in their mid 20s now I believe, with no association with MM. Let's leave them out of this - they have a very very low profile on SM as it is.

ThisIsMyGCname · 25/11/2022 21:49

CaveMum · 25/11/2022 20:36

@ThisIsMyGCname Balenciaga did a photoshoot involving young children posing with what can only be described as teddies in bondage gear. They’ve “apologised”.

Thanks @CaveMum .

You got the chance to say it twice?? I was blocked the first time I mentioned it to her 😂

Why have you highlighted my post out of all the posts wishing JG well?
Do you think somebody whose puberty was blocked is like any other adult?

bellinisurge · 25/11/2022 22:05

I agree. Hope everyone leaves her adult child alone.

Slothtoes · 25/11/2022 22:05

The trustees are legally responsible for what charities do, though I think- not the CEO?

AlisonDonut · 25/11/2022 22:06

I have seen a suggestion that it is being investigated as to whether what she did to her son constitutes a crime or not.

So...time will tell.

SnapeAlways · 25/11/2022 22:09

Don’t forget Green got women arrested for saying what Suzanne Moore said on Twitter this evening.

I also hope Jackie is not experiencing trauma and has access to support.

RedToothBrush · 25/11/2022 22:20

guinnessguzzler · 25/11/2022 17:56

Indeed, quite a non statement after six years of service. Interesting.

That's a 'she fucked up big time' and she's been pushed not left on her on terms statement if ever I saw one...

Needmoresleep · 25/11/2022 22:21

Perhaps Belinda Bell, chair of trustees has, after her cross examination, belatedly realised what a shit show it is, and mindful of her own liability, decided to try and normalise things. Susie may well have been obstructive as she is used to running things. So she had to go.

WomaninBoots · 25/11/2022 22:21

Can we say "strlis*tion of children is child abuse" yet?

I hope this sickening edifice crumbles. I hope people suddenly start to break out in cold sweats as they realise what they've done. I hope the whole thing falls off the tracks before any more children are irreversibly damaged.

I really hope that if the shit is about to actually hit the fan that people actually notice and say "oh look, everything is covered in shit" rather than just carry on regardless...

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/11/2022 22:29

Very late to this, but wow. SG has always seemed to me to be someone who isn't all that bright or well-informed, but doesn't grasp how much there is that she doesn't know. Used to work in IT but as far as I know she isn't a graduate, has had no training or high level experience in management, HR, finance, safeguarding or charity administration, so must have been massively out of her depth as Mermaids grew so fast in recent years. The IT leak a few years back was inexcusable and happened in her one and only area of expertise.

Did she appoint the Trustees? Surely others must have had some involvement there as well? I can believe she appointed the egregious Mew, though, and from the look of that tweet screenshot above probably sacked him when his photos became public.

She has been influential in WPATH, see screenshot, so has had influence well beyond these shores. I also saw someone on Twitter claiming that Helen Webberley has said she turned to SG for advice on transing children. That reflects extremely badly on both of them if true. SG should know that as she has no knowledge or training as an HCP or in psychology or any relevant academic discipline she should never have been trying to advise an HCP how to treat a particularly vulnerable patient.
