I find that tweet quite odd.

Was J seen at the Tavi?

Prior to Green mermaids was more reasonable and open ended. The child I know who was referred to the Tavi around 2010 had a very tactful suggestion around simply enjoying fashion. Which suited him hugely and he was much happier - he'd been quite happy when younger. It was people telling him he couldn't wear xyz that was the problem

Most drs would be v aware that telling a child to play with boys toys is incredibly sexist and unprofessional

Yes. That tweet is still perpetuating the absolute nonsense of toy preferences dictating sex. Which is why, to me, it looks like the opinion of a child. And one who is still repeating what they have always been told.

Surely Green knows enough by now to stop with this sexist claptrap. Mermaids have reverse ferreted on 'born in the wrong body' and all the stuff about stereotypes. But unfortunately, there was no alternative explanation offered for Jackie Green being trans. It's still 'dolls'.

Absolutely tragic.

WarriorN · 27/11/2022 09:19

I also don't believe it's a true representation of what happened.

Datun · 27/11/2022 09:25

No, it"s what SG said, not the doctors.

They took away all Jackie's toys, ffs. How traumatic is that?? Heartbreaking.

It really is. I don’t want Jackie to wake up and sue SG. I really hope Jackie spends the rest of her life believing that she is, and should always have been, a girl. The alternative- realising what has been done to her - is too horrific.

The Director of Governance & Designated Safeguarding lead at Stonewall (Mo Wiltshire) is also on the move (but leaving at the end of the year per her tweet).

Rearranging deckchairs ....

teawamutu · 27/11/2022 09:32

No Mermaids expose in today's news, it seems. Makes it more likely that the catalyst is the LGBA judgment?

KatMcBundleFace · 27/11/2022 09:36

@teawamutu I was just wondering the same........

I think so too. Can't wait for the news and I hope it is going to involve massive expense liability.

@Happylittlechicken time for your application to go in

Office Angels and not a dedicated charity recruitment agency like (googles charity recruitment) TPP or Harris Hill? they seem to have treated this as if it's just another office job and not a specialist one.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 27/11/2022 09:49

Personally, I think Mermaids will end with a whimper, not a bang. I doubt there is some massive unrevealed scandal. The real scandal is that the Establishment continued to support them, in spite of everything they were doing, quite openly.

SidewaysOtter · 27/11/2022 09:56

That was my first thought on seeing the link. Office Angels is the sort of outfit you go to if you want a receptionist for a regional car dealership, not the CEO of a very visible and controversial charity.

gruffalosbrother · 27/11/2022 09:57

Surely they would have gone to one of the big cheese charity recruiters and brought in a professional interim with a good track record as a safe pair of hands. I don’t think it’s the same charity although salary etc would fit. I would have thought they would be doing direct approaches to interims and twisting their arms to take it, probably with a higher than expected salary

gruffalosbrother · 27/11/2022 09:58

I mean direct approaches through decent headhunters but they what have they ever done decent and professional

Boiledbeetle · 27/11/2022 10:00

The thing is Susie left in a hurry, and it's obvious that the place is run by staff who don't know much of how to do anything professionally and properly, so if it is the mermaids job being advertised they probably just used the agency they all came from!

I'd really like to see some research into the mental maturation of these individuals. Jackie, Jazz, etc.

Are we actually dealing with totally undeveloped children in adult bodies? And is there any way to help them grow up? Because although the full realisation of what's happened could be devastating to them, deliberately keeping them emotionally and mentally immature can't be right.

That says it all really doesn’t it. They don’t want someone who can manage a total shit show: I’m just off to see if they’ve got anything on the guardian or charity job websites because that’s where they’ll find people. No offence to office angels but they’re really not equipped to be briefing and short listing CEO for a charity like that or charity ceos at all

She should have included the court case and the CofE story in that

The data breach should have had more of an outing and so should ehe Discord server revelation

Assuming the ad in Office Angels is for Mermaids, it tells me that they haven't a clue about the right person they need at this point and are just searching for a warm body; not someone who can guide them through what look like very choppy waters.

With both the Js you mentioned I wonder how much control their parents still have over the lives of their now adult children.

Even without the effects of the medication their parents seem the sort who would strive to keep their children close and reliant on their parents for any major decisions in lives.

That way the child/adult never has time to experience life on their own without the constant pecking of their brain by the parents who did these things to them. So never gets to appreciate what has been done to them.

I would bet money on the fact that both those kids expressed concerns and thoughts that maybe they were already in the right body and did they actually need surgery. But will have been talked round by their parents.

No one really knows for sure, but it’s unlikely that there is any way to help the cognitive function of adults who were intellectually stunted by being deprived of puberty, especially if they no longer have the anatomical capacity (gonads) to produce sex hormones.

It really can’t be. Seriously, it can’t be. There’s nothing on charity job or guardian jobs I just looked. I truly don’t think they could have gone to office angels. And whoever did go to office angels also haven’t got a clue if that’s where they’re looking!

Birdsweepsin · 27/11/2022 10:16

@gruffalosbrother there is always the possibility that they have someone lined up, but in the interests of fair competition they have to advertise the job.

The '2 days office, 3 days home' also suggests a pre-existing choice.

That would explain the utterly vague jd and the choice of recruitment website. "Just go with whoever is cheapest to advertise with"

Well @Happylittlechicken is taking one for the team so we shall hopefully find out soon enough! She's already populated her social media with the requisite dodgy stuff and ensured she appears in the very top of the Google searches!!

I do hope its the mermaids job though as the placing of the ad with office angels will hopefully mean most serious contenders don't spot it, so at least one of Happy's different 28 genders applications should get an interview!
