The hearing starts on 1st December 10am at London Central.

If you want to observe please send your email request to

[email protected]

The email header should read

PUBLIC ACCESS REQUEST Case NO: 2200179/2022 Date 01/12/2022 London Central Ms R Meade - Westminster CC & Social Work England

I just asked for the link and pin and I also included my name & address, but I'm not sure if that is necessary.

I believe as ever that veg still needs sowing.

Happy to donate again.

@Ameanstreakamilewide, I think it might have been Denise Fahmy's case in May of this year where the judge wasn't keen on the live Tweeting initially. I heard something about the Daily Telegraph threatening to get their barrister onto it, then it was permitted.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, anybody.

That's the one! Thank you.

I just couldn't remember for the life of me.

Just heard from the court:

Following up on my previous email below.

I can confirm that the hearing will take place in person with some evidence being given remotely. The evidential part of the hearing will not commence until 2pm tomorrow, Thursday 6 July 2023 with tribunal reading time prior to that.

Any parties that wish to make representations regarding access/live tweeting et cetera will be considered at 2pm tomorrow afternoon prior to the commencement of the evidence and any interested party is welcome to attend in person to make any such representations.

WallaceinAnderland · 05/07/2023 17:20

Does that mean that if we have already requested live access we just wait til 2pm tomorrow to see if it's granted?

ickky · 05/07/2023 17:24

I think I will send another request at 2.01pm tomorrow.

It sounds very much like anyone who wants to attend/report/live tweet needs to attend the court in person from 2pm tomorrow, and it doesn’t look likely that there’ll be remote access. This is a shame, I’d hoped one positive to come out of Covid restrictions was greater access to courts and justice.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 05/07/2023 21:44

And having 'greater access' to the Courts, is surely the essence of Open Justice?

FriendofJoanne · 06/07/2023 07:10

Wishing Rachel the very best of luck this afternoon. We’re all with you in spirit. This is such an important case for Social Workers, thank you.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 06/07/2023 08:54

Keeping everything crossed for Rachel today

AutumnCrow · 06/07/2023 09:02

Yes, all the very best for today.

IAmNoLady · 06/07/2023 09:15

This is a shame. I can understand why this may be beneficial from the court's point of view. I imagine in the Alison Bailey case a lot of time was spent, trying to manage the viewers. From monitoring user names, to use of the comments box.

But good from an open justice point of view? I don't think so.

princessleah1 · 06/07/2023 09:21

Best wishes for today Rachel.

Rightsraptor · 06/07/2023 09:41

Best of luck to Rachel today. X

ArabeIIaScott · 06/07/2023 09:46

All.the best for today, Rachel.

Tribunal Tweets should get permission to live tweet at 2pm.

Here are some of the abbreviations

Claimant: Rachel Meade - RM or C
Barrister: Naomi Cunningham - NC
Respondents: Westminster City Council - WCC
Social Work England - SWE
Barrister: Simon Cheetham - SC

I am also sending another email request to the court at 2pm.

We’re with you Rachel.

ickky · 06/07/2023 14:12

TT have been given permission to tweet.

Tribunal now discussing anonymity order etc.

OP posts:
ickky · 06/07/2023 14:16

Employment judge - EJ Nicolle (presiding)
Abbreviated - EJ

Now discussing timetable and when they are not available.

OP posts:
ickky · 06/07/2023 14:20

Doesn't seem that they discussed the online access, they are straight to witness statement from Rachel.

OP posts:
ickky · 06/07/2023 14:26

SC asking RM is she is aware of the professional standards of conduct as a social worker and now referring to prohibited activities including use of social media to bring social work into disrepute.

OP posts:
ickky · 06/07/2023 14:34

The Tribunal are now reading the complaint made to SWE about RM. No details are being given about what the complaint entails.

Tribunal Tweets have tried to get remote access and failed. Very annoying.
