I was just thinking that the GC analysis is the only one that can explain the behaviour of police forces up and down the country.

The liberal position is “It’s awful that the police are institutionally racist and misogynist, but it’s great that they stand up for LGBTQ+ people!”

No. The promotion of trans ideology is part of the misogyny.

Jesus fucking H Christ.

And we wonder why the police never do anything, they are all there pontificating over the word 'done'.

ArabellaScott · 12/11/2022 17:48

Felix I'm sorry but if women are getting house calls, arrests and charges for being 'rude on Twitter' then something is going awry. We know full well that women being stalked, harassed and abused don't always get seen or don't get help when they are seen. I've lived in areas that were 'no-go' zones for the police.

We hear it on here quite frequently. The police do some good work of course; there is also an element of performative stunts for the social media accounts, and to appease the latest fashionable agenda. Not to mention there is also a known, serious problem with institutional misogyny.

It's nice that you spend so much time here defending the police and I do value hearing your POV. I'm afraid I'd give it more credence if you weren't trying to pretend the police are perfect. Because we all know that there is room for improvement.

Thats only happening if these women are engaging in hate speech. What is awry is people thinking hate speech is just “being rude” or “unpleasant”.

No it isn't.

That's the fucking point.

This article is a hard read, and outlines why many women feel they cannot trust the police:

How dead police officer’s family found harassment and racism rife at force

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/11/2022 19:11

I've just read that ResisterRex
It's deeply embedded with (as we've seen in this thread) denial, excuses, minimising and looking away everywhere. It continues because countless good officers fail to stand up and challenge / report what's going on.

That article's horrific - and utterly depressing

Charley50 · 12/11/2022 19:34

@Felix125 what force do you actually work for? I am wondering because regarding the vetting issues, 8 forces were investigated (deep dive); different types of region, e.g cities, towns and rural.

One of the investigators was on radio 4'saying that such a pattern was recognised that it could be safely extrapolated to be happening in forces the whole of the UK.

What is 'hate speech'?

Oh gos that article. Shocking, not surprising. Police culture is rotten from the top, and attracts too many of the wrong type of people.

I feel that only people who DO NOT want to be in the police, should be recruited into forces right now.

Charley50 · 12/11/2022 19:48

Yes Felix, what is 'hate speech'?

Yes, you just redefine anyone disagreeing with you as 'hate speech', and then do what ever you like: manipulate statistics, harass people (mostly women[ for stating fundamental facts, that kind of thing.

Onnabugeisha · 12/11/2022 22:48

The police don’t define what is an arrest-able offence. It’s in the laws Parliament passes. And the police aren’t going around arresting women for being “rude on Twitter.” They can only arrest you if they’re charging you with a crime.

ArabellaScott · 12/11/2022 23:14

Marion Millar
Kellie Jay Keen
Kate Scottow
Caroline Farrow
Jennifer Swayne
Sarah Phillimore

And others.

The police are complicit in oppressing women, often using the nonsense 'non-crime' hate incident process.

How many of these were arrested?

ArabellaScott · 12/11/2022 23:19

All but Kellie Jay Keen (interviewed by police) and Sarah Phillimore (NCHI), I believe. Those are off the top of my head, there are others.

Onnabugeisha · 12/11/2022 23:15

How many of these were arrested?

Off the top of my head, at least 3 out that list -

www.southwalesargus.co.uk/news/20069683.gwent-police-drop-jennifer-swayne-newport-stickers-case/

news.stv.tv/scotland/crown-office-drops-hate-crime-charge-against-feminist-marion-millar

www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/mum-arrested-front-five-kids-7667500

Strangely enough, the cases tend to be dropped. And the Police flat out lied about Jennifer putting blades behind posters. Absolutely no evidence of that all all. They haven't retracted that though.

And I can't remember the exact details but I think Sarah Phillimore had a crime recorded against her name, without her knowledge? Something like that.

Onnabugeisha · 12/11/2022 23:23

I had no idea this was happening. Googling now.

Onnabugeisha · 12/11/2022 23:31

You’re right that is disturbing.

Waitwhat23 · 12/11/2022 23:32

Another woman was repeatedly harassed by a PCSO because of a sticker on her front door. There's voice recordings of the aggressive and intimidating manner of the PCSO on Twitter.

We used to have Dementia Friends stickers on the cars to support that initiative, but those have now been removed
Why? They seem fairly innocuous, nothing remotely comparable to the rainbow shite?

Waitwhat23 · 13/11/2022 00:15

And despite women being arrested and harassed for 'hate speech', threats of violence made against women are just ignored -

The political party in power in my country currently -

Does anyone know if the Brunel student who made gun threats against women faced any charges in the end?

Academic paper revelling in making violent threats against women - thecritic.co.uk/watch-me-take-a-knife-to-your-throat/

And of course - www.terfisaslur.com

I wonder if any of the countless death and rape threats were investigated by the Police. I'm guessing 0.

The police force that harassed Jen Swayne is the same police force exposed for misogynistic and racist behaviour in today’s Sunday Times article.
