Article in the Mail on views and experiences of GIDS from a former psychiatrist who worked there until 2012. Referrals only increased after that time, as is documented.

Well there’s a shocker! Some people aren’t fit to have a pot plant let alone a child. I hope any doctor seeing this is reporting the parents to social services (do they care these days?).

The emotional abuse being heaped on that child - a million times worse than women I know who joke about their dads wanting a son and taking them to football matches and fishing.

Who is referring these preschool children - who’ve fairly recently discovered that they’re separate people from their mothers and are still grappling with theory of mind - to a gender identity clinic? There’s no possibility of them having an identity that is some essential part of them (rather than imposed from outside).

I hadn't read before that parents who had previously lost a child were over represented in this transing group of parents. Seems obvious now I've read it, but wouldn't have occurred to me before. Not only the kids needing psychological therapies then, but the parents also.

We knew this. How many posts on MN are there that express disappointment at having a boy.

We knew this. Despite it being 2022 and ot perfectly normal for kids to mimic their parents by pretending to look after a baby using dolls or copying things like cooking and ironing, still its seen as odd if a boy does it.

I've also seen alot on social media where parents have 2 boys and their third/4th and final child is a girl and that girl has so much stuff and so many plans for her befire she's even born. I often wonder wwhat they'd do if the girl decided she wanted her brothers toys/clothes etc My dd was a dog for years. Playing is how kids learn. It's not a statement about their identity. And there's fuck all wrong with a boy who wants to sing and dance. They should ve able to do so without being thought of as gay at 3 or trans.

I can't say most of what I'd like to without getting deleted so I will stick with this:-
Any parents who are trying to or are transing a pre school child should immediately have their children removed by social services.
Anyy charities who are referring pre school children and/or supporting the parents to transition a child whether socially or medically should be shut down immediately and investigated for child abuse and promoting child abuse

Agree wholeheartedly. I would add that homophobic parents who want to trans their child because the child plays with the 'wrong' toys or their personality doesn't adhere to regressive sex stereotypes should also have their children removed from them and any Charity or online 'community' that supports such parents in this should be shut down and face criminal charges.

It is child abuse pure and simple, it is enforcing the ideas, wants and needs of adults on children and the children are paying a devastating price.

I hope Cass is investigating fully where this all starts. With trans lobby groups 'training' teachers and pupils, the NHS, the police, all government departments, etc.

And I hope the influence of mermaids on Gids is specifically acknowledged.

If you look at some of the prominent trans-child-in-the-media families they often have a sex imbalance amongst the siblings.

The person I know who transitioned was one of 5 children. All boys apart from the youngest who was noticeably favoured by the mother.

He basically transitioned into his sister. Dressing identically to her. Taking up all the activities his mum and sister had done just the two of them.

All "she" used to talk about was how frat the relationship with the mother had become.

You don't need a psychology degree to see the problems with little children being transitioned yet we've allowed this group of predominantly adult males - many with a fetish - to set themselves up as "experts" and promote socially transitioning and medicalising children to recreate them in their own image.

GIRES organized a symposium in London in 2005 to develop “guidelines for endocrinological intervention”. Additional funding came from Mermaids, two medical charities - Nuffield Foundation and King’s Fund - and the Servite Sisters Charitable Trust Fund. This brought together the creators of the Dutch protocol, American clinicians like Norman Spack in Boston, and key British figures such as Domenico Di Ceglie, the Director of GIDS, and Polly Carmichael and Russell Viner, both at Great Ormond Street Hospital. (The latter two would lead the 2011 experiment.) Some of the participants vigorously lobbied for the Dutch protocol. GIRES have been very active in promoting the transitioning of children. They had some appalling training for adults working with children - complete safeguarding busting advice encouraging the social transitioning of even very young primary children in schools with no reference to safeguarding or parents.
They grudgingly amended it to include some references to safeguarding but again displayed their ignorance of safeguarding by recommending teachers risk assess the mental health of individual children.
Fucking dangerous yet nobody calls them out or stops them.

It can't just be a focus on Mermaids. There are so many groups who've been active in promoting social transitioning, that sex is assigned at birth, that being is is being attracted to the same gender. The list of lies told to children is a shocker. Groups other than Mermaids have posted binders to children behind their parents' backs.

It's not confined to one organisation. And the list of those promoting this includes major, important national charities. None of whom must be allowed to pretend they never took part and oh, I've got a training package now you can all buy and let's pretend we were never part of the problem. No no no.

I know of a parent who has 11 boys then a girl. They were desperate for a girl and would not stop till they got one. I could never decide if I felt more sorry for there son's that it was made so clear to them they were not enough or the daughter who had a lifetime of other peoples expectations and plans placed on there newborn shoulders.

I am a mum of 3 boys and have to deal with other peoples disappointment I didn't have a daughter. Neither me or dh felt disappointed. It's alarming the lengths some parents will go to get what they want. We planned to stop at 2 but ds3 was a lovely surprise.

How did we end up with a clinic of paediatric psychologists and psychiatrists who had forgotten this?

I agree. Any charity or health organisation which promoted this should be investigated. Not least because it shows they are open to dangerous political capture.

Even my STBXH said ‘it’s a shame you didn’t get a little girl’ as if I’m in any way disappointed with my lovely boys (who are their own people with their own personalities and interests).

Maybe they just glossed over the early childhood developmental stuff in the training - since the services being offered are just wildly inappropriate for children that young. Then they completely forgot that they don’t actually know enough about early child development to be treating such young children.

Like someone intent on a geriatrics career probably didn’t prioritise learning or retaining that much information about early child development. But, on the other hand, they wouldn’t accept a 3 year old as a patient - on the basis that their service was completely inappropriate for that child.

Or how an electrician will divert you to a plumber if you call them asking to have your leaky pipes fixed.

One of the psychologists at the Tavistock helped run a tantra group in their leisure time, where they described themselves as a "gender queer elf and political pervert".

I'm using they/their/themselves here as those are the pronouns they prefer. I think the person is a female transitioner, if it matters.
